End of Upsetting Games by Lucien Nzeyimana Pdf

Life is not always a bowl of cherries. As the world we live in becomes more complex, we face new challenges, unforeseen and almost unimaginable only a generation ago. Yet for those living in oppression, little changes with time. Jacob Barak was born and raised in Burundi where Evildoers treated members of his tribe as immoral beings. Yet as a young boy, he was full of joy and optimism. As he grew and his horizons widened, he saw the injustice his people were subjected to. He witnessed firsthand soldiers and civilians pounding their country fellows with sledgehammers and rocks or stabbing them with butcher knives and bayonets. Soldiers and cops could just kill innocent people, burying many others alive. Some of the killers were his schoolmates, classmates, neighbors, or friends. Others were their parents or siblings. Victims were his relatives, friends, or just acquaintances; and they were of all ages. Professionals were the main targets of the Evildoers. Assailants and their victims had much in common. They were human beings, and they were Burundians. Most importantly, they were created in the same image of God. As innocent civilians, including his own family, were either killed or sent into hiding, Jacob strived to make a change. His life journey took him into many dangerous situations, escaping certain death on several occasions. He crossed the borders, lakes, and oceans to seek asylum in foreign countries, only to see that, once our basic needs are met, we will always strive for more, ultimately seeking peace and love. After struggling in numerous refugee camps, where he often slept under the open sky, Jacob had finally had enough. Now already an adult and a father, he was determined that his children would live a different life away from hatred and injustice. Still, by moving to Canada a land of living blue skies, as he liked to call it he did not find life a rose as he hoped. Thus, Nikita Chissocco, his childhood friend, seemed to be a dream come true. She epitomized the joy he had lost a link to his homeland, a friend, a lover, and a mother to his future children. Little did he know that she would only bring misery to his life. Always a free spirit, she soon brought his old enemies into his life, threatening his family but also his very life. Jacob decided to end the upsetting games by chasing demons from his house. And you, how far are you prepared to go in order to fulfill your dreams?

The Ends Game by Marco Bertini,Oded Koenigsberg Pdf

How companies like Dollar Shave Club and Rent the Runway rewrite the rules of commerce by pursuing outcomes rather than products and services. The seventh book in the Management on the Cutting Edge series—for business professionals looking to do deliver excellent customer service while maximizing value and revenue. Would you rather pay for healthcare or for better health? For school or education? For groceries or nutrition? A car or transportation? A theater performance or entertainment? In The Ends Game, Marco Bertini and Oded Koenigsberg describe how some firms are rewriting the rules of commerce: instead of selling the “means” (their products and services), they adopt innovative revenue models to pursue “ends” (actual outcomes). They examine companies such as: • Dollar Shave Club • Rent the Runway • Netflix • Spotify • Michelin • Adobe • Pearson • And many more! They show that paying by the pill, semester, food item, vehicle, or show does not necessarily reflect the value that customers actually derive from their purchases. Revenue models anchored on the ownership of products, they argue, are patently inferior.

The Team That Forever Changed Baseball and America by Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) Pdf

Of all the teams in the annals of baseball, only a select few can lay claim to historic significance. One of those teams is the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers, the first racially integrated Major League team of the twentieth century. The addition of Jackie Robinson to its roster changed not only baseball but also the nation. Yet Robinson was just one member of that memorable club, which included Carl Furillo, Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese, Pete Reiser, Duke Snider, Eddie Stanky, Arky Vaughan, and Dixie Walker. Also present was a quartet of baseball’s most unforgettable characters: co-owners Branch Rickey and Walter O’Malley, suspended manager Leo Durocher, and radio announcer Red Barber. This book is the first to offer biographies of everyone on that incomparable team as well as accounts of the moments and events that marked the Dodgers’ 1947 season: Commissioner Happy Chandler suspending Durocher, Rickey luring his old friend Burt Shotton out of retirement to replace Durocher, and brilliant outfielder Reiser being sidelined after running into a fence. In spite of all this, the Dodgers went on to win the National League pennant over the heavily favored St. Louis Cardinals. And of course, there is the biggest story of the season, where history and biography coalesce: Jackie Robinson, who overcame widespread hostility to become Rookie of the Year—and to help the Dodgers set single-game attendance records in cities around the National League.

Ending the Document Game by Commission on Systemic Interoperability,National Library of Medicine (U.S.) Pdf

"This report is all about people and using computers to connect them and their healthcare information. It is a report about how we get consumers and clinicians to use these tools, how we pay for them, and what we want the computers to do. But computers are only a tool, a means to an end. We have focused this report on computers because they seem to be the best tool--and maybe the only tool--that will allow the nation to change the way healthcare works... This report articulates a vision of an information-connected healthcare system, where consumers' privacy is protected and their convenience facilitated, where doctors and nurses have the information they need to efficiently deliver safe and effective care, where our public health and homeland security can be protected while still guarding each individual's privacy. The report recommends specific actions and broader policy objectives, all with the goal of allowing healthcare to effectively use computers and information technology. If followed, the Commission's recommendations will accelerate healthcare's transformation." [From Foreword].

Sinner by Sierra Simone Pdf

An Entertainment Weekly Top 10 Romance of 2018! I'm not a good man, and I've never pretended to be. I don't believe in goodness or God or any happy ending that isn't paid for in advance. In fact, I've got my own personal holy trinity: in the name of money, sex, and Macallan 18, amen. So when the gorgeous, brilliant Zenny Iverson asks me to teach her about sex, I want to say yes, I really do. Unfortunately, there are several reasons to say no--reasons that even a very bad man like myself can't ignore. 1. She's my best friend's little sister. 2. She's too young for me. Like way too young. 3. She's a nun. Or about to be anyway. But I want her. I want her even with my best friend and God in the way, I want to teach her and touch her and love her, and I know that makes me something much worse than a very bad man. It makes me a sinner. And it's those very sins that are about to save me... ***Sinner is a standalone companion to Priest about Father Bell's brother Sean. You do not have to read Priest or Midnight Mass to read Sinner***

The Never Ending Game by Raymond Hickman Pdf

Amir, Los, and Ashely had been friends for as long as they could remember. They had formed a bond that was rare for people that lived in separate households and were not blood related. Los’s family ties to a dangerous organization in California connected the three friends to the streets where they eventually formed their own organization. The Black Border Brothers was formed, and Amir and Los maneuvered drugs, weapons, and currency through the dregs of the streets in Kansas and Missouri. With success comes jealousy, deceit, and hatred. Their organization began colliding with others, and they were forced to defend what they had built at all costs. The M.O.P. was a major factor in Kansas City, the Italians were the Black Border Brothers gateway to receiving their drugs, and the Jamaicans were funding their foes with loads of currency. These three organizations were a constant threat to their survival. Through all of this, the three friends struggled with their relationships and attempted to balance their personal lives with the murder and mayhem that the Black Border Brothers were causing in the streets. They also struggled with remaining friends through their fears, dreams, and adversities. Amir and Los were two males with conflicting personalities, and it was difficult to remember the blood pact they had forged as children when money, sex, and murder was a constant distraction in Kansas City- the dangerous place that they called home.
