Advanced Engineering Mathematics by Merle C. Potter,Jack L. Lessing,Edward F. Aboufadel Pdf

This book is designed to serve as a core text for courses in advanced engineering mathematics required by many engineering departments. The style of presentation is such that the student, with a minimum of assistance, can follow the step-by-step derivations. Liberal use of examples and homework problems aid the student in the study of the topics presented. Ordinary differential equations, including a number of physical applications, are reviewed in Chapter One. The use of series methods are presented in Chapter Two, Subsequent chapters present Laplace transforms, matrix theory and applications, vector analysis, Fourier series and transforms, partial differential equations, numerical methods using finite differences, complex variables, and wavelets. The material is presented so that four or five subjects can be covered in a single course, depending on the topics chosen and the completeness of coverage. Incorporated in this textbook is the use of certain computer software packages. Short tutorials on Maple, demonstrating how problems in engineering mathematics can be solved with a computer algebra system, are included in most sections of the text. Problems have been identified at the end of sections to be solved specifically with Maple, and there are computer laboratory activities, which are more difficult problems designed for Maple. In addition, MATLAB and Excel have been included in the solution of problems in several of the chapters. There is a solutions manual available for those who select the text for their course. This text can be used in two semesters of engineering mathematics. The many helpful features make the text relatively easy to use in the classroom.

div="" This book introduces undergraduate students of engineering and science to applied mathematics essential to the study of many problems. Topics are differential equations, power series, Laplace transforms, matrices and determinants, vector analysis, partial differential equations, complex variables, and numerical methods. Approximately, 160 examples and 1000 homework problems aid students in their study. This book presents mathematical topics using derivations rather than theorems and proofs. This textbook is uniquely qualified to apply mathematics to physical applications (spring-mass systems, electrical circuits, conduction, diffusion, etc.), in a manner that is efficient and understandable. This book is written to support a mathematics course after differential equations, to permit several topics to be covered in one semester, and to make the material comprehensible to undergraduates. An Instructor Solutions Manual, and also a Student Solutions Manual that provides solutions to select problems, is available. ^

SPECIAL FUNCTIONS AND COMPLEX VARIABLES by SHAHNAZ BATHUL Pdf

This well-received book, which is a new edition of Textbook of Engineering Mathematics: Special Functions and Complex Variables by the same author, continues to discuss two important topics—special functions and complex variables. It analyzes special functions such as gamma and beta functions, Legendre’s equation and function, and Bessel’s function. Besides, the text explains the notions of limit, continuity and differentiability by giving a thorough grounding on analytic functions and their relations with harmonic functions. In addition, the book introduces the exponential function of a complex variable and, with the help of this function, defines the trigonometric and hyperbolic functions and explains their properties. While discussing different mathematical concepts, the book analyzes a number of theorems such as Cauchy’s integral theorem for the integration of a complex variable, Taylor’s theorem for the analysis of complex power series, the residue theorem for evaluation of residues, besides the argument principle and Rouche’s theorem for the determination of the number of zeros of complex polynomials. Finally, the book gives a thorough exposition of conformal mappings and develops the theory of bilinear transformation. Intended as a text for engineering students, this book will also be useful for undergraduate and postgraduate students of Mathematics and students appearing in competitive examinations. What is New to This Edition : Chapters have been reorganized keeping in mind changes in the syllabi. A new chapter is exclusively devoted to Graph Theory.

Advanced Engineering Mathematics and Analysis. Volume 2 by Rami A. Maher Pdf

The book Advanced Engineering Mathematics and Analysis. Volume 2 offers a straightforward approach to understanding the theory of several engineering tools used to compute, evaluate, and analyze practical problems. It is a mathematic textbook that can be used by students, instructors, and technical carriers; partially, the book also covers signal processing in the related course syllabus. Throughout the four chapters of the book, besides the pure mathematical examples, several practical issues from different fields are modeled and solved to illustrate the relation between the theory and its applications. The book elucidates the subjects in a self-contained style. The reader can select what he wants to read without following a particular sequence of reading. Volume 2 contains four chapters that consist of two units. The first two chapters deal with the continuous and discrete function (signal) analysis that is based on Fourier's series and transforms, and on the z-transform for the discrete functions. The considered functions are periodic as well as aperiodic. The second unit consists of special multivariable functions, specifically, the space vector and the complex functions. Each chapter is ended with exercises that are arranged according to the chapter sections. The readers will find the answers at the end of the book.
