Eternal Insecurity or Eternal Security by James McClain Pdf

Is it possible for a person to know with certainty that they have a future with God in Heaven? Some hold the position that no one can know the answer to that question until they pass on from this life. In a sincere search for an accurate answer, guesswork will not provide the kind of clarity we seek. It has to be one of the most serious questions-if not the most serious question we each need the answer for. Either a person can know that assurance or they cannot. If we can know we have a home in Heaven, then how? If we cannot have that assurance, then why not? Is it too much to hope for that a person could have the promise of eternal peace with God? As Believers, we rejoice that the Lord Jesus promised His followers peace "not as the world gives," and that one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is a continuing ministry of peace while we, His people, are here on earth. Could it not be considered Biblically normal for a Believer to enjoy the comforting assurance of eternal life even as the Lord promised His followers abundant life while on earth? If not, it certainly appears that Believers are missing out on peace, comfort, joy, happiness, security, and a source of fervor for a life of service to the Lord. I believe the Lord wants the best for His people and that the Bible teaches we will "never perish" and "never thirst again." Perhaps the most challenging question a professing Believer-especially a new convert has to deal with-is whether or not a Christian could ever go to hell. It is shocking to find that there is such unsettled belief about such an eternally serious question. I was raised in a church that taught a person who professed Christ could be truly redeemed, saved, born again, and then later in their Christian walk, turn away, be deceived away, rebel, sin away their faith, and end up lost and undone and headed for separation from God. It's as if what they are advocating is "OK, Jesus, your sacrificial blood was sufficient to get me saved, but if I'm going to make it to heaven someday, I have to be faithful, read my Bible every day, pray regularly, witness to others daily, win others to Christ regularly, attend every church service and church-sponsored event coming or going, in effect saying Christ's Work needs supplemented! I now believe that this doctrinal position is blasphemy." When Jesus cried out from His cross, "It is finished!" He wasn't talking about His ordeal of suffering, He was talking about His Sacrificial Work of Redemption, nothing to be taken from It, nothing added to It. He alone accomplished it. (Heb. 1:3) Anything mankind would offer could try to take away from His Glory. The good works that a Believer does (Bible reading, witnessing, praying, etc.) are done because we are saved not in order to be more assured of making it to Heaven someday. Nothing human could ever supplement the atoning Work of the Lord Jesus Christ, a ministry only HE has (Heb. 1:3)

Eternal Security Or Eternal Insecurity? by David Novitsky,Dustin Layton Pdf

We live in a world where Christianity is doubting a lot of what the word of God says. Once Saved, Always Saved by R. T. Kendall Pdf

"R. T. Kendall is a dear friend with a deep love for the gospel and the ministry. His words are worth reading and taking to heart." --Ed Stetzer, author and president of LifeWay Research The Bible commands us to make our calling and election sure. Why is it then so many Christians today struggle with the issue of assurance? Embracing the doctrine of eternal security, author Dr. R. T. Kendall, in Once Saved, Always Saved, encourages Christians struggling with legalism, bondage, and fear, and he points them toward God's glorious promises. First published in England in 1983, Once Saved, Always Saved presents a practical biblical and theological argument for the eternal security doctrine. It defines the "once saved, always saved" doctrine, explains the meaning of being saved, and clarifies why being saved is such a tremendous happening. This study also discusses sanctification, and it's utter importance in Christian life, and its connection to the kingdom of God. It focuses on the judgment seat of God, showing the importance of being disciplined in the Christian life, and finally presents a strong case for believing in and living the doctrine. Addressing an often controversial but relevant subject, Once Saved, Always Saved teaches that God is sovereign, gracious, and wanting to convey his love and full assurance to those who trust His son. Although a true Christian cannot be lost, Dr. Kendall shows the grave consequences for those who do not persevere in godly living.

Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart by J. D. Greear Pdf

“If there were a Guinness Book of World Records entry for ‘amount of times having prayed the sinner’s prayer,’ I’m pretty sure I’d be a top contender,” says pastor and author J. D. Greear. He struggled for many years to gain an assurance of salvation and eventually learned he was not alone. “Lack of assurance” is epidemic among evangelical Christians. In Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart, J. D. shows that faulty ways of present- ing the gospel are a leading source of the confusion. Our presentations may not be heretical, but they are sometimes misleading. The idea of “asking Jesus into your heart” or “giving your life to Jesus” often gives false assurance to those who are not saved—and keeps those who genuinely are saved from fully embracing that reality. Greear unpacks the doctrine of assurance, showing that salvation is a posture we take to the promise of God in Christ, a posture that begins at a certain point and is maintained for the rest of our lives. He also answers the tough questions about assurance: What exactly is faith? What is repentance? Why are there so many warnings that seem to imply we can lose our salvation? Such issues are handled with respect to the theological rigors they require, but Greear never loses his pastoral sensitivity or a communication technique that makes this message teachable to a wide audience from teens to adults.

Four Views on Eternal Security by Zondervan, Pdf

Does the Bible support the concept of "once saved, always saved," or can a person lose his or her salvation? Among the most hotly debated topics in the history of Christian theology has been the perseverance of the saints. How do the Scriptures portray the complex interplay between grace and free will? These and related questions are explored from different angles in this thought-provoking Counterpoints volume. The contributors each state their case for one of four prominent views on eternal security: Classical Calvinist – presented by Michael S. Horton Moderate Calvinist – presented by Norman L. Geisler Reformed Arminian – presented by Stephen M. Ashby Wesleyan Arminian – presented by J. Steven Harper In keeping with the forum approach of the Counterpoints series, each view is first presented by its proponent, then critiqued and defended. This fair and respectful approach allows you to weigh for yourself the strengths and weaknesses of the different doctrinal stances. By furnishing you with scholarly and thoughtful perspectives on the topic of eternal security, this book helps you sift through opposing views to arrive at your own informed conclusions.
