Exmortus by Todd Maternowski Pdf

The holy men of Exmortus Abbey have unearthed a terrible evil. To save their floundering faith, they dug up an artifact of immense power —and unleashed the demon avatar of long-dead gods.Ash Xavier, a brilliant young knight-in-training, survives the avatar's brutal onslaught on the Abbey only to see his entire world crumble around him. With no weapons, no horse, no map and no chance, he must use his wits alone to take the artifact across hundreds of miles of hostile terrain to safety in the fabled city of Helios —provided he can survive that long.EXMORTUS, BOOK I: TOWERS OF DAWN is a work of epic dark fantasy in the mold of George R.R. Martin or Gene Wolfe, with fresh angles on the classic literary problems of growing into adulthood, sword-and-sorcery adventure, love and sex, friendship and betrayal, guilt and innocence, murder and exile, battles on land and at sea, creepy demons and how to deal with unkillable beasts at the worst possible times.EXMORTUS: TOWERS OF DAWN is followed by the second book of the trilogy, EXMORTUS BOOK II: TEMPLES DIABOLIC, and the third and final installment, EXMORTUS BOOK III: TOMBS OF HALF-GODS.

Thrash Metal Drumming by Ryan Alexander Bloom Pdf

Learn to play like Dave Lombardo, Gene Hoglan, Nick Menza, Charlie Banante, Igor Cavalera, Gar Samuelson, Tom Hunting, Paul Bostaph and many others greats! Thrash Metal Drumming uses an organized progression of standard exercises along with transcriptions of great thrash recordings to teach the core concepts behind the original wave of 1980s thrash and the new wave of 2000s thrash. Learn the theory and then see the actual usage in context. Topics covered include: warmups, rock and punk influences, skank beats and related double time, double bass, cymbal chokes, thrash fills, and feel changes. These concepts are accompanied by 32 audio examples and 64 transcriptions of intros, grooves, and fills from '80s legends like Slayer, Anthrax, Overkill, Megadeth, Kreator, Destruction, Nuclear Assault, Dark Angel, Testament, Annihilator, Exodus, and Sepultura, plus '00s new wave names such as Warbringer, Evile, Vektor, Gama Bomb, Havok, Skeletonwitch, Bonded by Blood, Exmortus, Toxic Holocaust, and Municipal Waste! Thrash drumming is the foundation for all modern genres of heavy music and the knowledge found in Thrash Metal Drumming can be used verbatim for thrash playing or as a solid base from which to expand to more extreme musical styles. Death metal, black metal, deathcore, metalcore, slam, djent and many other heavy genres trace their drumming heritage directly back to thrash in the 1980s and the skills are directly transferrable. The importance of thrash as an underpinning to all modern heavy drumming cannot be oversold. Also included are tips and advice for: touring, kit setup, tuning and tone, health and safety, and time and metronome markings, plus an abbreviated history of thrash and a list of classic albums for essential listening. Brought to you by Hudson Music and the author of The Complete Double Bass Drumming Explained, Live Drum & Bass, and Encyclopedia Rudimentia.

Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle Pdf

The Ethics of Aristotle is one half of a single treatise of which his Politics is the other half. Both deal with one and the same subject. This subject is what Aristotle calls in one place the "philosophy of human affairs;" but more frequently Political or Social Science. In the two works taken together we have their author's whole theory of human conduct or practical activity, that is, of all human activity which is not directed merely to knowledge or truth. The Nicomachean Ethics is the name normally given to Aristotle's best-known work on ethics. The work, which plays a pre-eminent role in defining Aristotelian ethics, consists of ten books, originally separate scrolls, and is understood to be based on notes from his lectures at the Lyceum. The title is often assumed to refer to his son Nicomachus, to whom the work was dedicated or who may have edited it (although his young age makes this less likely). Alternatively, the work may have been dedicated to his father, who was also called Nicomachus. The theme of the work is a Socratic question previously explored in the works of Plato, Aristotle's friend and teacher, of how men should best live. In his Metaphysics, Aristotle described how Socrates, the friend and teacher of Plato, had turned philosophy to human questions, whereas Pre-Socratic philosophy had only been theoretical. Ethics, as now separated out for discussion by Aristotle, is practical rather than theoretical, in the original Aristotelian senses of these terms. In other words, it is not only a contemplation about good living, because it also aims to create good living. It is therefore connected to Aristotle's other practical work, the Politics, which similarly aims at people becoming good. Ethics is about how individuals should best live, while the study of politics is from the perspective of a law-giver, looking at the good of a whole community.

The Festival by H. P. Lovecraft Pdf

It is the time to celebrate Yuletide – a festival that ancient Germanic people celebrated during the darkest times of the year. A man returns to his home town to share this special day of celebration with his relatives. But there is no regular festival waiting for him – instead he is about to meet something terrifying... Yuletide is not, after all, that similar to Christmas – it was believed that supernatural forces were particularly strong during that time of the year. H.P. Lovecraft (1890–1937) was an American horror writer. His best known works include ‘The Call of Cthulhu’ and ‘the Mountains of Madness’. Most of his work was originally published in pulp magazines, and Lovecraft rose into fame only after his death at the age of 46. He has had a great influence in both horror and science fiction genres.

America 51 by Corey Taylor Pdf

A skewering of the American underbelly by the New York Times bestselling author of Seven Deadly Sins, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Heaven, and You're Making Me Hate You The always-outspoken hard rock vocalist Corey Taylor begins America 51 with a reflection on what his itinerant youth and frequent worldwide travels with his multiplatinum bands Slipknot and Stone Sour have taught him about what it means to be an American in an increasingly unstable world. He examines the way America sees itself, and likewise takes a look at how the world views us, and his findings should come as a surprise to no one. But behind Taylor's ranting and raving is a thoughtful and intelligent consideration, and even a sadness, of what America is compared to what it could and should be. Expertly balancing humor, outrage, and disbelief, America 51 proves that no element of what constitutes America is safe from Taylor's adept and scathing eye as he flawlessly skewers "the greatest country in the world" in his own signature style.
