SIMBA THE FIREBOY by DEREK GONEKE Pdf

A race against time. Simba, child of the prophecy, has earned himself a powerful ally—Queen Oglove of Yttrium. Now capable of withstanding even the deadliest alien bullet, along with the Queen, Simba travels back through time to Ahec, where the answers leading to the Stone of Conquest are said to lie. With time racing against them, will Simba’s dreams for a peaceful world finally come true? Or is this only a prelude to much bigger and more sinister events? A vindictive retaliation. Quinn knows where Simba is—and he needs to get there fast. His children, now turned against him, are now unredeemable in his eyes. The lust for power has completely blinded Quinn, making him even more spiteful than ever. Together with Deputy Wong and Lady Hex, Quinn sets out to Ahec, where the Stone of Conquest is presumed to have been kept by no other than the banished Queen herself—Oglove’s mother. As their forces continue to balloon in numbers and mount in strength, Quinn is overcome by both grief and joy. Grief for the family he has lost and insurmountable joy for the impending end of Simba’s journey—his greatest nemesis. Everything is not as it seems. Queen Oglove can remember clearly the day her mother was shamed and banished, word after f her villainy had reached the ears of his Majesty, the King, her father. With the balance of the universe hanging by a thin thread, the conception of stones, Treasure of Ocal and Stone of Conquest, didn’t bode well for all who had life. Dubbed to be the mind behind what is considered the most powerful magical tool, the former Queen’s identity remains a mystery. However, after finding out the link that could lead them to her, Simba and the Queen journey to the infamous forest, rumored to trap anyone that enters the realm beyond it forever. The beginning of the end. Eila had felt them from miles away—her intuition was never wrong. Her father’s deceit has made them question the values that had guided them before meeting Simba, and this has done wonders for her judgment. With the enemy’s forces waiting on the outskirts of Ahec, Eila fears for Simba and the future of the universe. However, her trust remains in the prophesied child. Only lies in him the freedom for which all covets.

Fact-Finding without Facts by Nancy A. Combs Pdf

Fact-Finding Without Facts explores international criminal fact-finding - empirically, conceptually, and normatively. After reviewing thousands of pages of transcripts from various international criminal tribunals, the author reveals that international criminal trials are beset by numerous and severe fact-finding impediments that substantially impair the tribunals' ability to determine who did what to whom. These fact-finding impediments have heretofore received virtually no publicity, let alone scholarly treatment, and they are deeply troubling not only because they raise grave concerns about the accuracy of the judgments currently being issued but because they can be expected to similarly impair the next generation of international trials that will be held at the International Criminal Court. After setting forth her empirical findings, the author considers their conceptual and normative implications. The author concludes that international criminal tribunals purport a fact-finding competence that they do not possess and, as a consequence, base their judgments on a less precise, more amorphous method of fact-finding than they publicly acknowledge.

Black Male Fiction and the Legacy of Caliban by James W. Coleman Pdf

With The Tempest's Caliban, Shakespeare created an archetype in the modern era depicting black men as slaves and savages who threaten civilization. As contemporary black male fiction writers have tried to free their subjects and themselves from this legacy to tell a story of liberation, they often unconsciously retell the story, making their heroes into modern-day Calibans. Coleman analyzes the modern and postmodern novels of John Edgar Wideman, Clarence Major, Charles Johnson, William Melvin Kelley, Trey Ellis, David Bradley, and Wesley Brown. He traces the Caliban legacy to early literary influences, primarily Ralph Ellison, and then deftly demonstrates its contemporary manifestations. This engaging study challenges those who argue for the liberating possibilities of the postmodern narrative, as Coleman reveals the pervasiveness and influence of Calibanic discourse. At the heart of James Coleman's study is the perceived history of the black male in Western culture and the traditional racist stereotypes indigenous to the language. Calibanic discourse, Coleman argues, so deeply and subconsciously influences the texts of black male writers that they are unable to cast off the oppression inherent in this discourse. Coleman wants to change the perception of black male writers' struggle with oppression by showing that it is their special struggle with language. Black Male Fiction and the Legacy of Caliban is the first book to analyze a substantial body of black male fiction from a central perspective.

Fathers on Film by Katie Barnett Pdf

The father is an enduring and iconic figure in Hollywood cinema and in the 1990s, narratives of redemptive fatherhood featured prominently in some of the decade's most popular films like Kindergarten Cop (1990), Mrs Doubtfire (1993), Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lion King (1994). Interpreting such films through the lens of feminist and queer theory, along with masculinity studies and psychoanalysis, Katie Barnett offers an insightful and interdisciplinary discussion of cinematic fathers. Barnett reveals that the father figure is often portrayed as one that invests in and is part of a discourse of reproductive futurism. This plays out across a range of genres including rom-coms, fantasy, sci-fi, drama, and disaster. By exploring both blockbuster and more low-budget films of the 1990s, Barnett explores the figure of the father against the crisis of masculinity in the United States, and indeed more globally, at this time.

Apprenticeship with Jesus by Gary W. Moon Pdf

Ask a crowd of Christians whether they believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior, and all hands will go up. Ask the same crowd whether they live like Jesus, and most of those same hands will come down. Why is this? Why is it so hard to bridge the gap between belief and real life? Respected author, professor, and psychologist Gary W. Moon thinks it has to do with our hyper-intellectual but non-experiential method of living the Christian life. In this winsome book Moon provides a thirty-day apprenticeship with Jesus, whereby readers will actively practice being with Jesus day in and day out. Each day's reading uses compelling stories and scripture to illustrate a point and closes with a suggested apprenticeship activity.
