Finding Pax by Kaci Cronkhite Pdf

'The boat appeared when I didn't expect or, frankly, need her. My bucket list was empty. Life was full...But sailing towards me was a boat that would stir the waters, waking decades of loss, revealing history untold, and restoring a legacy that was lost in the wind. For her and for me, I had to wade into that water. I had to go, to search, to find.' Having fallen hopelessly in love with a 1930s Danish spidsgatter, a beautifully constructed 25 ft wooden double-ender, Kaci embarks on an international search to unravel the mystery of the boat's past, and discovers the many lives Pax touched since she first hit the water in 1936. Kaci Cronkhite's seven year search for Pax's history is an elegant little gem, taking the reader aboard not only for sublime, wind-filled sails but also to eavesdrop the conversations and relationships that are built as she learns more about Pax's past, whilst hugely enjoying her present. Finding Pax is a story of discovery and reconnection like no other. The writing is poetic, spare, and full of wisdom: 'In sailing, in weather, in life and death, answers are not endings and questions are not to be feared. The unknowns keep us moving forward.'

Southern Crossfire by Don Weathington Pdf

Set in Alabama in the 1960s, Southern Crossfire tells the story of a white Auburn University student, Duke, who becomes involved in the black voter registration project in nearby Tuskegee. Since he has several friends from Tuskegee, the project leaders convince him to use these relationships to supply information about the plans and activities of local Klansmen. As the story unfolds, Duke encounters many of the social issues that made the '60s such a tumultuous time-loosening sexual practices, drugs, abortion, interracial relationships, even a passing reference to homosexuality. The story has elements of intrigue and betrayal, violence and romance, philosophy and frivolity. Historical characters appear and lend realism to this fictional story-that just could have happened.

Finding Pax by Kaci Cronkhite Pdf

Finding Pax is a fast-paced memoir of mystery, searching, determination, and discovery like no other. Around the world sailor, writer, and traveler Kaci Cronkhite knew better than to buy a wooden boat. But, in 2007, smitten by the voluptuous curves of a beautiful 28-foot Danish spidsgatter--she did. "The boat appeared when I didn't expect or, frankly, need her. My bucket list was empty. Life was full." Within days of import to Port Townsend, Washington from British Columbia, Canada, the boat became the focus of an evolving mystery. One after another, people drawn to the boat began to ask questions and offer hints, tips, and stories from sightings from in remote Vancouver Island, 1980s California, and 1930s-50s Denmark. Stirred by decades of lost history and history untold Kaci embarked on a seven-year investigative research journey-from Canada and the United States back to Denmark which inspired generations. This is a love story about a woman and a boat, written in prose that is poetic, spare and full of wisdom. A brave, inspiring story about following questions wherever they may lead and accepting the unknowns. Finding PAX was a Shortlist Finalist for The Mountbatten Awards Best Book of the Year 2018.

Advances in Bladder Research by Laurence S. Baskin,Simon W. Hayward Pdf

The aim of Bladder Research Congress, San Francisco, California, April 23-25, 1998, was to provide a forum for authoritative investigators who are actively involved in the various disciplines which define the leading edges of bladder research. It is important for such investigators to continue to meet regularly for the purpose of discussing the latest developments in their individual fields, to analyze the significance of current research, to discuss new tactics for unresolved problems, to critically evaluate current theories, and to develop new theories and approaches as needed. The two and a half day meeting was organized into five half day sessions, with each session encompassing one of five topics: (1) Epithelial-Mesenchymal Interactions; (2) Ex tracellular Matrix and Muscle; (3) Nerves and Pharmacology; (4) Infection and Immunol ogy; and (5) Oncology. Each session was introduced by a moderator followed by five to six invited expert speakers with time for extensive interaction from the participants. Two late-afternoon poster sessions allowed further interactions between investigators. This book documents the proceedings of the Bladder Research Congress. It is organ ized into the five half-day sessions of the meeting with moderators overview and an edited transcription of discussions that followed each presentation. I would like to thank Sarah Burke and the Office of Continuing Medical Education, USCF; Joanne Hayward, Editorial Assistant; and Miriam Escamilla, Administrative Assis tant. I hope you find this resource useful. Laurence S. Baskin, M.D.
