Future Spacecraft Propulsion Systems and Integration by Paul A. Czysz,Claudio Bruno,Bernd Chudoba Pdf

The updated and expanded third edition of this book focuses on the multi-disciplinary coupling between flight-vehicle hardware alternatives and enabling propulsion systems. It discusses how to match near-term and far-term aerospace vehicles to missions and provides a comprehensive overview of the subject, directly contributing to the next-generation space infrastructure, from space tourism to space exploration. This holistic treatment defines a mission portfolio addressing near-term to long-term space transportation needs covering sub-orbital, orbital and escape flight profiles. In this context, a vehicle configuration classification is introduced covering alternatives starting from the dawn of space access. A best-practice parametric sizing approach is introduced to correctly design the flight vehicle for the mission. This technique balances required mission with the available vehicle solution space and is an essential capability sought after by technology forecasters and strategic planners alike.

Advanced Space Propulsion Systems by Martin Tajmar Pdf

Space propulsion systems have a great influence on our ability to travel to other planets or how cheap a satellite can provide TV programs. This book provides an up-to-date overview of all kinds of propulsion systems ranging from classical rocket technology, nuclear propulsion to electric propulsion systems, and further to micro-, propellantless and even breakthrough propulsion, which is a new program under development at NASA. The author shows the limitations of the present concepts and how they could look like in the future. Starting from historical developments, the reader is taken on a journey showing the amazing technology that has been put on hold for decades to be rediscovered in the near future for questions like how we can even reach other stars within a human lifetime. The author is actively involved in advanced propulsion research and contributes with his own experience to many of the presented topics. The book is written for anyone who is interested in how space travel can be revolutionized.

A Spherical Torus Nuclear Fusion Reactor Space Propulsion Vehicle Concept for Fast Interplanetary Travel by National Aeronautics and Space Adm Nasa Pdf

A conceptual vehicle design enabling fast outer solar system travel was produced predicated on a small aspect ratio spherical torus nuclear fusion reactor. Initial requirements were for a human mission to Saturn with a greater than 5% payload mass fraction and a one way trip time of less than one year. Analysis revealed that the vehicle could deliver a 108 mt crew habitat payload to Saturn rendezvous in 235 days, with an initial mass in low Earth orbit of 2,941 mt. Engineering conceptual design, analysis, and assessment was performed on all ma or systems including payload, central truss, nuclear reactor (including divertor and fuel injector), power conversion (including turbine, compressor, alternator, radiator, recuperator, and conditioning), magnetic nozzle, neutral beam injector, tankage, start/re-start reactor and battery, refrigeration, communications, reaction control, and in-space operations. Detailed assessment was done on reactor operations, including plasma characteristics, power balance, power utilization, and component design. Fusion Rocket by Fouad Sabry Pdf

What Is Fusion Rocket The concept of a fusion rocket refers to a theoretical design for a rocket that would be powered by fusion propulsion. Such a rocket would be able to offer effective and continuous acceleration in space without the need to carry a significant amount of fuel. The concept calls for fusion power technology that is beyond the capability of today's systems, as well as rockets that are far bigger and more sophisticated. How You Will Benefit (I) Insights, and validations about the following topics: Chapter 1: Fusion rocket Chapter 2: Interstellar travel Chapter 3: Interplanetary spaceflight Chapter 4: Spacecraft propulsion Chapter 5: Nuclear thermal rocket Chapter 6: Gaseous fission reactor Chapter 7: Nuclear salt-water rocket Chapter 8: Bussard ramjet Chapter 9: Antimatter rocket Chapter 10: Nuclear pulse propulsion Chapter 11: Antimatter-catalyzed nuclear pulse propulsion Chapter 12: Robert W.
