Glimpses Through Time by Dwight Bernard Pdf

This book is one of my mother’s inspiration, she named me Dwight after a journalist who used to visit the home with one of my uncle. So I discovered my gift for writing and penmanship from about 5 yrs old . This book is a combination of some very first writings and some very new ones . I tried to basically touch on all faucets of life , so came about the title :glimpses through time . As humans we evolve , it’s never constant, life is like a bicycle , you pedal and you learn to balance in order to pivot or propel, so as to attain. My hope is to stimulate and to engender an awakening of the expression within all of us.

San Juan: Glimpses in Time by Michael Jean Nystrom-Schut Pdf

From my home in San Juan, a lovely sector of central Tibas, situated just north of San Jose, Costa Rica, while the candle flickers I commence the writing of these varied glimpses. Warning! What you are about to read are personal memoirs! They are much to do about self. They amount to a large group of random thoughts, sporadic observations. I always feel I am somehow supposed to write my thoughts down what a big ego I must have because (I like to think that) if you put them all together, they form a loose-knit way of seeing the world. They are a part of my worldview. Everyone has one of these whats your view of the world look like? I am going to be a world philosopher when I grow up, you see. That is what my intention is, since I have always been preoccupied with how to see things, how to process things. How odd is life anyway. Thats why my interest in philosophy to figure out the oddness of life. Normally, I think philosophy can be pretty dry and boring. But, for me, its terribly exciting. In this book, what you are about to delve into will resemble the form of an ongoing story. It will consist of a sequence of six weeks of shadows and lights (i.e. days and nights). After that time, wherever I am at with it, I will stop, and simply and abruptly start to write another book about something else I know not what. Here though, I will (I suspect) be sharing with you a series of ideas, dreams, fears, logical thoughts, illogical thoughts, wonderings, wanderings and general psychobabble. I say that because I intend to impart thoughts and ideas about whatever might be in my ongoing existence in being. This could be anything, I assure youas of course it could be for anyone. Exactly what will appear in the pages that represent the next six weeks of my life, I do not have any idea that, for me, is going to be much of the fun of writing it!

150 Glimpses of the Beatles by Craig Brown Pdf

Winner of the 2020 Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction A distinctive portrait of the Fab Four by one of the sharpest and wittiest writers of our time "If you want to know what it was like to live those extraordinary Beatles years in real time, read this book.” —Alan Johnson, The Spectator Though fifty years have passed since the breakup of the Beatles, the Fab Four continue to occupy an utterly unique place in popular culture. Their influence extends far beyond music and into realms as diverse as fashion and fine art, sexual politics and religion. When they appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, fresh off the plane from England, they provoked an epidemic of hoarse-throated fandom that continues to this day. Who better, then, to capture the Beatles phenomenon than Craig Brown—the inimitable author of Ninety-Nine Glimpses of Princess Margaret and master chronicler of the foibles and foppishness of British high society? This wide-ranging portrait of the four lads from Liverpool rivals the unique spectacle of the band itself by delving into a vast catalog of heretofore unexamined lore. When actress Eleanor Bron touched down at Heathrow with the Beatles, she thought that a flock of starlings had alighted on the roof of the terminal—only to discover that the birds were in fact young women screaming at the top of their lungs. One journalist, mistaken for Paul McCartney as he trailed the band in his car, found himself nearly crushed to death as fans climbed atop the vehicle and pressed their bodies against the windshield. Or what about the Baptist preacher who claimed that the Beatles synchronized their songs with the rhythm of an infant’s heartbeat so as to induce a hypnotic state in listeners? And just how many people have employed the services of a Canadian dentist who bought John Lennon’s tooth at auction, extracted its DNA, and now offers paternity tests to those hoping to sue his estate? 150 Glimpses of the Beatles is, above all, a distinctively kaleidoscopic examination of the Beatles’ effect on the world around them and the world they helped bring into being. Part anthropology and part memoir, and enriched by the recollections of everyone from Tom Hanks to Bruce Springsteen, this book is a humorous, elegiac, and at times madcap take on the Beatles’ role in the making of the sixties and of music as we know it.

Glimpses of God by Cookie Magee, DMin Pdf

Glimpses of God are opportunities to recognize, with greater clarity, the presence of God in the various places, people, events, circumstances, objects, and languages of our daily life. I offer them to you as an opportunity to reflect on how much God is a part of your life, and how He has chosen to be in relationship with you, how you have chosen to be in relationship with Him, and how through this relationship, you become one of His greatest Glimpses. They are glimpses because we can miss them if we are not paying attention. If we open our heart to His love, our ears to hear his gentle whisper, our eyes to see His light, our hands to feel His hand in ours, and our feet to walk with Him, then we are growing in our relationship with our God and exuding His presence in a clear and vibrant way. I believe that it is in and through this relationship that we are able to recognize His invitation to be a Glimpse to others on our life. I believe it is then that we see more clearly His presence within ourselves. As we recognize His presence within ourselves, and strive to see it more readily in others, then we grow not only in love with our God, self, and others, we are filled with a deeper peace, a greater joy, and a sense of being beloved. If we are open to sharing these gifts with others, then we too are being a Glimpse of God to those in our family, our neighborhood, our community, our society, our church, our friends, those we encounter on a daily basis and even the stranger.
