One year could change her life forever... All her life, Maliyah Aeron has been judged. Not because of who she is, but because of who her father was-one of the greatest villains Somiar has ever known. The only chance she has to prove that she is different from her father is when the law forces her to face her year of judgement. However, it has been made clear to her from the beginning that she is not wanted by the supernaturals. Only Nina Dalloway, daughter of the head of Woodwyn, is kind to her, despite her brother Ezra seeming to hate Maliyah more than anyone else. Not only is Maliyah continuously put to test as she is taking the trials of judgement, but she also has to deal with the mysterious Kai, who aims to make her life a living hell. Does she have what it takes to prove everyone wrong about her or is she more like her father than she might have thought?

Heritage Of Evil by Peter J. Summers Pdf

Steve’s birth to parents who could not conceive was called a miracle by the local press. Little did they suspect it would lead to their murder by strangers in town, who insisted they knew the awkward teenager. Was Steve the reincarnation of a centuries-old vampire or was he naturally strong and healthy, impervious to injury? This question sends Steve to Romania to seek the truth, leading him into a whirlpool of horror. Coincidence brings AFP agent, Terry Johnson, to the mysterious country also. His own problems escalate when he meets Steve, for whom he feels empathy and, finally, terror.

Learning from the Germans by Susan Neiman Pdf

As an increasingly polarized America fights over the legacy of racism, Susan Neiman, author of the contemporary philosophical classic Evil in Modern Thought, asks what we can learn from the Germans about confronting the evils of the past In the wake of white nationalist attacks, the ongoing debate over reparations, and the controversy surrounding Confederate monuments and the contested memories they evoke, Susan Neiman’s Learning from the Germans delivers an urgently needed perspective on how a country can come to terms with its historical wrongdoings. Neiman is a white woman who came of age in the civil rights–era South and a Jewish woman who has spent much of her adult life in Berlin. Working from this unique perspective, she combines philosophical reflection, personal stories, and interviews with both Americans and Germans who are grappling with the evils of their own national histories. Through discussions with Germans, including Jan Philipp Reemtsma, who created the breakthrough Crimes of the Wehrmacht exhibit, and Friedrich Schorlemmer, the East German dissident preacher, Neiman tells the story of the long and difficult path Germans faced in their effort to atone for the crimes of the Holocaust. In the United States, she interviews James Meredith about his battle for equality in Mississippi and Bryan Stevenson about his monument to the victims of lynching, as well as lesser-known social justice activists in the South, to provide a compelling picture of the work contemporary Americans are doing to confront our violent history. In clear and gripping prose, Neiman urges us to consider the nuanced forms that evil can assume, so that we can recognize and avoid them in the future.

Rewriting Your Family History by Dr. Steve Ogan Pdf

Most families have one negative heritage or another associated with them. Some have struggled with these evil foundations for centuries. Others have accepted persistent reproaches as their lot in life. Yet others, in an attempt to change the tides of calamities, have sought for solutions in places that compounded their situation. What do you do when you notice the scourge of premature death in your family? How do you explain the persistence of poverty in the midst of plenty? Why do some family members work like elephants and eat like ants? Why are women in certain families unable to keep their husbands? Why is divorce a mark of identification for some families? These are the concerns we have chosen to address in this book on principles of dealing with evil heritage

Jewish Traditions in Early Christian Literature, Volume 4 Jewish Apocalyptic Heritage in Early Christianity by William Adler,James VanderKam Pdf

This volume contains five chapters which investigate the early Christian appropriations of Jewish apocalyptic material. An introductory chapter surveys ancient perceptions of the apocalyses as well as their function, authority, and survival in the early Church. The second chapter focuses on a specific tradition by exploring the status of the Enoch-literature, the use of the fallen-angel motif, and the identification of Enoch as an eschatological witness. Christian transmission of Jewish texts, a topic whose significance is more and more being recognized, is the subject of chapter three which analyzes what happend to 4,5 and 6 Ezra as they were copied and edited in Christian circles. Chapter four studies the early Christian appropriation and reinterpretation of Jewish apocalyptic chronologies, especially Daniel's vision of 70 weeks. The fifth and last chapter is devoted to the use and influence of Jewish apocalyptic traditions among Christian sectarian groups in Asia Minor and particularly in Egypt. Taken together these chapters written by four authors, offer illuminating examples of how Jewish apocalyptic texts and traditions fared in early Christianity. Editors James C. VanderKam is lecturing at the University of Notre Dame; William Adler is lecturer at North Carolina State University. Cultural and Tourism Innovation in the Digital Era by Vicky Katsoni,Thanasis Spyriadis Pdf

This book explores a wide range of emerging cultural, heritage, and other tourism issues that will shape the future of hospitality and tourism research and practice in the digital and innovation era. It offers stimulating new perspectives in the fields of tourism, travel, hospitality, culture and heritage, leisure, and sports within the context of a knowledge society and smart economy. A central theme is the need to adopt a more holistic approach to tourism development that is aligned with principles of sustainability; at the same time, the book critically reassesses the common emphasis on innovation as a tool for growth-led and market-oriented development. In turn, fresh approaches to innovation practices underpinned by ethics and sustainability are encouraged, and opportunities for the exploration of new research avenues and projects on innovation in tourism are highlighted. Based on the proceedings of the Sixth International Conference of the International Association of Cultural and Digital Tourism (IACuDiT) and edited in collaboration with IACuDiT, the book will appeal to a broad readership encompassing academia, industry, government, and other organizations.

Engaging Evil by William C. Olsen,Thomas J. Csordas Pdf

Anthropologists have expressed wariness about the concept of evil even in discussions of morality and ethics, in part because the concept carries its own cultural baggage and theological implications in Euro-American societies. Addressing the problem of evil as a distinctly human phenomenon and a category of ethnographic analysis, this volume shows the usefulness of engaging evil as a descriptor of empirical reality where concepts such as violence, criminality, and hatred fall short of capturing the darkest side of human existence.
