Key Topics in Nuclear Structure by Aldo Covello Pdf
Key Topics in Nuclear Structure is the eighth in a well established series of conferences and is devoted to the discussion of significant topics in nuclear structure. Both experimental and theoretical issues at the forefront of current research on the subject are covered by leading physicists. In particular, on the experimental side the state of the art and the envisaged developments in the most important laboratories, where rare isotope beams are available, are reviewed in detail. On the theoretical side, the various approaches to a fundamental theory of nuclear structure starting from the nucleon-nucleon interaction are discussed, ranging from the few-body systems, where ab initio calculations are possible, to the complex nuclei, where the shell model plays a key role. The proceedings have been selected for coverage in: • Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings® (ISTP® / ISI Proceedings)• Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings (ISTP CDROM version / ISI Proceedings)• CC Proceedings — Engineering & Physical Sciences
Perspectives In Nuclear Physics - Proceedings Of The International Conf by Joseph H Hamilton,H K Carter,R B Piercey Pdf
This book provides an overview of the current research and future prospects in a variety of important areas in nuclear physics by leaders in their respective areas. Advances in both theory and experiments are covered. The topics included new insights into the fission process and the use of fission in the characterization of nuclear fuel waste. High spin spectroscopy studies of both proton and neutron rich nuclei are described. New and emerging areas covered include relativistic heavy ion physics at RHIC as it turns on in 1999, to new opportunities with radioactive ion beams at several laboratories, to prospects for new neutrino studies with the high intensity 1GeV proton beam from the Spallation Neutron source when it is completed in 2005. A major part of this book includes current and future research with stable and radioactive ion beams at the Holifield RIB facility and the performance and first results with the new generation recoil mass spectrometer at Holifield.

Nuclear Structure and Dynamics '09 by Matko Milin,Tamara Niksic,Suzana Szilner,D. Vretenar Pdf
This volume collects the contributions to the international conference "Nuclear Structure and Dynamics", held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from May 4 to 8, 2009. The conference was hosted by the Physics Department of the University of Zagreb and the Ruder Boškovic Institute. Following the long tradition of nuclear physics meetings on the Adriatic coast, organized by our two institutions, the Conference presented a review of recent experimental and theoretical advances in the physics of nuclear structure and reactions, and provided a broad discussion forum on current and future research projects. The main focus was on the following topics: Nuclear structure and reactions far from stability - Exotic modes of excitation and decays - Collective phenomena and symmetries - Ab initio, cluster model, and shell-model approaches - Nuclear energy density functionals - Heavy-ion reactions at near-barrier energies - Dynamics of light-ion reactions - Nuclear reactions of astrophysical interest - Weak-interaction processes. More than 170 nuclear physicists from over 30 countries participated in "Nuclear Structure and Dynamics". The considerable interest in this meeting was reflected not only in the number of participants but also in the large number of received abstracts. Following the suggestions of the International Advisory Committee, only about half of the submitted abstracts could be selected for oral presentation. In addition to 24 invited talks, more than 80 oral contributions were presented. An evening poster session was organized as part of the conference. An effort was made to provide the opportunity for young researchers to present their work, and selected posters were accepted for very short oral presentation.
The Building Blocks of Nuclear Structure by Aldo Covello Pdf
Held in May 1992 in Italy, the 4th International Spring Seminar on Nuclear Physics focused on recent developments which enhanced our understanding of the role of the various degrees of freedom which come into play in the nucleus. Consisting of four sessions, the first three sessions dealt with both theoretical and experimental issues centering on quarks and meson degrees of freedom, single-particle degrees of freedom and collective degrees of freedom. The fourth session discussed several important contributions that nuclear structure physics has made to the other research fields.
