The Life You Long For by Christy Nockels Pdf

A beautiful invitation to discover your place in God's heart and let him set the pace for your life—from a wife and mother, singer-songwriter, and worship leader for Passion Conferences and IF:Gathering “Christy Nockels is a gentle, strong voice shepherding us into a fuller life with Jesus at the very center. This book will restore your weary soul.”—Jennie Allen, New York Times bestselling author of Get Out of Your Head and founder and visionary of IF:Gathering Christy Nockels knows firsthand how easily our desire to serve God—even when using the gifts He has given us—can overshadow our delight in simply being with Him. When God called her to lay down her ministry for a season, Christy was forced to confront how her sense of purpose and worth had become tangled up in her work. God then lovingly invited her to discover true rest in His presence as she learned to live as the Beloved. In The Life You Long For, Christy shows us how to let go of hustle and achievement and instead find our identity in the quiet center of God’s love. As we delight in being with Him, we are filled to overflowing with contentment and love that propel us into an entirely new way of being, one in which every act of service and every encounter with the people around us arise from a heart at rest. With irresistible warmth and grace, this book calls you to step fully into the life you didn’t even realize you’ve been seeking, as you find your highest calling not in a duty to uphold but in a beautiful identity to live out.

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom Pdf

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A special 25th anniversary edition of the beloved book that has changed millions of lives with the story of an unforgettable friendship, the timeless wisdom of older generations, and healing lessons on loss and grief—featuring a new afterword by the author “A wonderful book, a story of the heart told by a writer with soul.”—Los Angeles Times “The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.” Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it. For Mitch Albom, that person was his college professor Morrie Schwartz. Maybe, like Mitch, you lost track of this mentor as you made your way, and the insights faded, and the world seemed colder. Wouldn’t you like to see that person again, ask the bigger questions that still haunt you, receive wisdom for your busy life today the way you once did when you were younger? Mitch Albom had that second chance. He rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man’s life. Knowing he was dying, Morrie visited with Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college. Their rekindled relationship turned into one final “class”: lessons in how to live. “The truth is, Mitch,” he said, “once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.” Tuesdays with Morrie is a magical chronicle of their time together, through which Mitch shares Morrie’s lasting gift with the world.

How Starbucks Saved My Life by Michael Gates Gill Pdf

Now in paperback, the national bestselling riches-to-rags true story of an advertising executive who had it all, then lost it all—and was finally redeemed by his new job, and his twenty-eight-year-old boss, at Starbucks. In his fifties, Michael Gates Gill had it all: a mansion in the suburbs, a wife and loving children, a six-figure salary, and an Ivy League education. But in a few short years, he lost his job, got divorced, and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. With no money or health insurance, he was forced to get a job at Starbucks. Having gone from power lunches to scrubbing toilets, from being served to serving, Michael was a true fish out of water. But fate brings an unexpected teacher into his life who opens his eyes to what living well really looks like. The two seem to have nothing in common: She is a young African American, the daughter of a drug addict; he is used to being the boss but reports to her now. For the first time in his life he experiences being a member of a minority trying hard to survive in a challenging new job. He learns the value of hard work and humility, as well as what it truly means to respect another person. Behind the scenes at one of America’s most intriguing businesses, an inspiring friendship is born, a family begins to heal, and, thanks to his unlikely mentor, Michael Gill at last experiences a sense of self-worth and happiness he has never known before. Simplifying Your Life - Learning How to Live Instead of Just Existing! by Dueep Jyot Singh,John Davidson Pdf

Table of Contents Introduction Failure As a Stepping stone Stock Taking and Introspection Spiritual Quotient – SQ Building Bridges and Making Amends Making Changes in Your Lifestyle Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction Most of us are so taken up with the rat race of the 21st-century, that we have forgotten about how to live. We are existing only to pile up more and more material things and thus cluttering up our lives. Just look all around you. The majority of us are so busy earning money and a name for us is that we have forgotten how to make a real life for ourselves. Let us take an example of a man who decides at a very young age to be one of the success stories of the century. He is obsessed with earning money and he works 18 hours out of 24 to achieve that particular goal. And one day, if he is fortunate, his example is going to be set up as an example to be followed by other ambitious young men coming after him. People look at him with envy. He is going to be praised for being a survivor. He may also be considered to be a perfectionist and for being ahead of his times. For nearly a decade or two, he may be tracked by the media dogging his steps to record his every move, hyping up his achievements and applauding his style of functioning in the business world. But what are the side effects and the end result of being such a workaholic? He has now dedicated his life to earning more money, and buying more things to prove to the world that he has reached the zenith of his ambition, and he has no more worlds to conquer. But the media and the people around him are egging him on, because it is now a matter of pride for him to show them what he is capable of doing and achieving. When I was deciding on which career options to follow, in my late teens, someone asked me why I would not want to train to be a doctor. I had the marks, I had the aptitude and I had the ability to become an efficient doctor. In return, I told him that I would be wasting five years of my precious life, in training and internship. That would make me 22 years old. After that I would be training under someone for another 10 to 15 years in order to gain more experience. That would make me around 37 years before I decided to set up my own practice. Another 10 years before the people all around me got to know about me. By the age of 47, I would have been a total burnout working day in day out with absolutely no rest in order to make a name for myself among the cutthroat competition of doctors already present in the city or in the country. I would be suffering from tension, high blood pressure, incipient ulcers, and other stress related problems, because I would always be worried about possible successes and failures, potential malpractice threats and all other perils faced by successful doctors. All this was airy fairy persiflage, said my counselor. A doctor had a very lavish lifestyle, if he was successful. I would have everything I wanted because I had achieved my ambition of becoming a successful doctor and a name in my field. But then, I told him, how much time would I have to enjoy that material success? I would be on call 14 hours out of 24, during the training, with no thanks, except the gaining of experience. When and if I became successful, when would I have the time to enjoy holidays abroad, magnificent homes of my own and the latest stylish souped-up jalopies? I would have absolutely no time for any outside interest, except talking to my friends, where I would possibly boast of my own achievements and the things I had bought, all under the garb of asking their opinion about that particular lavish item.

Live Lead Learn by Gail Kelly Pdf

Gail Kelly’s presence reaches far beyond her own profession. The first female CEO of one of Australia’s big four banks, listed by Forbes in 2010 as the 8th most powerful woman in the world, and mother of four (including triplets), Gail is celebrated as one of our finest, most innovative thinkers on leadership and workplace culture. In these personal, practical chapters, Gail Kelly shares what she’s learned over her remarkable career, drawing from her personal and professional life. As a leader, she argues passionately for the importance of putting people and customers at the heart of a business; of leading with courage and generosity of spirit; and of resilience. Some of those lessons were learnt at times of high pressure, and Gail takes us into her thinking as she led Westpac through the global financial crisis and the merger with St. George. But Gail’s voice speaks to each of us, whatever our role in life. She explores the absolute importance of loving what you do; learning to learn; backing yourself; and most importantly, placing your family above all things. At the heart of Gail’s refreshing, authentic, integrated approach is how both individuals and companies thrive when they openly address the meaning of what they do, and understand the need to live a whole life. Live, Lead, Learn is the inspiring story of one of the world’s most prominent business people, who started as a Latin teacher and became mother of four and CEO of Westpac – and everything she has learned along the way.
