Excerpt from How to Study and Teach the Bible The Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention, U. S. A., is sending forth this book as the official teacher training manual for Negro Baptist Sunday Schools of America, and we consider ourselves fortunate to be able to secure the services of Dr. S. N. Vass as author - a Sunday school expert and a Bible scholar. Dr. Vass has had more than a quarter of a century's experience in Sunday school and Bible work. This book is the first one written by Dr. Vass bearing on this work, and shows the secret of his wonderful grasp upon the Bible. If there were no other features to the book but the Bible instruction, it would richly repay the price at which we are selling the book. Outline Studies in the New Testament for Bible Teachers (Classic Reprint) by Jesse Lyman Hurlbut Pdf

Excerpt from Outline Studies in the New Testament for Bible Teachers Scriptures finds an abundant reward. There is need in our age of searchers in the Bible, who shall bring out of its treasure-house things new and old. In the Old Bible the most important themes are those which gather around the God-man, Jesus Christ. His coming to earth was the culmination Of all prophecy, the focus of all history, and the center of all doctrine; and the church which he founded has been for nineteen centuries the inspiration Of the world's progress. There are two subjects in the New Testament with which everv follower of Christ should be thoroughly acquainted, and they are its two most prominent themes: the life of Christ on earth, and the growth of the early church. In the life of Christ he should know the order of the leading events; he should grasp its principles, and should enter into its Spirit. Only as we apprehend Christ can we comprehend the truths taught. And inspired by Christ. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Thoughts for Teachers of the Bible (Classic Reprint) by J. Armitage Robinson Pdf

Excerpt from Thoughts for Teachers of the Bible I hope this little book may be of service to teachers, though it does not even touch upon the problem of how the Bible should be taught to children; nor does it attempt to forestall the enquiries which a good and sympathetic teacher is certain to evoke. In these matters teachers must help teachers. What I have attempted to do is to set out plainly some broad principles, the recognition of which may help the faith and understanding of the teachers themselves. They will find out how to teach, when they see clearly what it is they want to teach. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. What the Bible Teaches by R. A. Torrey Pdf

Excerpt from What the Bible Teaches: A Thorough and Comprehensive Study of What the Bible Has to Say Concerning the Great Doctrines of Which It Treats As the aim of this book is to ascertain and state in systematic form what the Bible teaches, the method pursued will be to first give the Scripture statements, and then sum up their con tents in a proposition, following the proposition by such comments as may appear necessary. I. The fact that God is Spirit. Jno. 4: 24 - "God is (a) Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." First Proposition: God is Spirit. Question: What is spirit? Answer: Luke 24: 39 - "Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have." A spirit is incorporeal, invisible reality. To say God is spirit is to say God is incorporeal and in visible. (Compare Deut., 4: 15-18.) Question: What does it mean, then, when it says in Gen. 1:27: "God created man in his own image?" The answer to this question is plainly given in the following passages: Col. 3: 10 - "And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." Eph. 4: 23, 24 - "And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which, after God, is created in righteousness and true holiness." Col. 1: 15 - "Who is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of every creature." (Compare Tim. 1: 17.) The words "image" and "likeness" evidently do not refer to visible or bodily likeness, but to intellectual and moral likeness - likeness "in knowledge," "righteousness" and "holiness of truth." The Roots of Christian Teaching as Found in the Old Testament (Classic Reprint) by George Aaron Barton Pdf

Excerpt from The Roots of Christian Teaching as Found in the Old Testament This little volume has been written for those who would study the Old Testament devotionally. Many are puzzled to know how to use the Old Testament. They have an idea that modern knowledge and mod ern methods of study have wrought great changes in our conception of that part of our Bible, but just what these changes are they often do not know, and when they do know, often experience a vague sense of help lessness with reference to the use to which the Old Testament may be put. Apt to Teach by Emma K. Bomhard Pdf

Excerpt from Apt to Teach: First Book on Teacher Training The increase in the number of text books on teacher-train ing is a sure indication of the growth of the interest manifested by our Sunday-schools in the need of training men and women for this great work of the Christian Church. But if this training is to be applied only to the work in the Sunday-school, then the efforts that are being put forth to increase the facilities for such training would hardly be warranted. It is being discovered that this training of the teachers gives them a more intelligent outlook upon the unlimited opportunities for Christian service in the home. The introduction to systematic, comprehensive Bible study, the knowledge of child development, and of the laws governing the spiritual and moral education Will prepare our young people for the real life work awaiting them, as the fathers and mothers of the coming generation. The English Bible as a Guide to Writing (Classic Reprint) by Charles Sears Baldwin Pdf

Excerpt from The English Bible as a Guide to Writing The importance of the English Bible as a model of style has been often felt, often expressed, but never, apparently, realised in systematic, practical application. Thus to apply it to the practical end of learning to write cannot obscure or belittle its impor tance for other ends. Rather, the one should help the other, as in the study of the Old Testament by the writers of the New. But all that this book presumes to teach from the Bible is how to write.
