Information Systems Architecture for University Hospitals by Silvano Herculano da Luz Júnior Pdf

The implementation of the Information Systems (IS) Architecture is one of the steps in the construction of the Enterprise Architecture (EA), according to The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), and can bring notable benefits in supporting the management and governance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in organizations, including of health. However, this task is usually followed by several challenges, even more so when we refer to University Hospitals (HU), which are hospitals dedicated to teaching, research, and extension. The purpose of this book is to disseminate an empirical research whose methodological course was carried out in three phases: 1- an extensive Systematic Literature Review, based on 9 specific research questions, to explore the state of the art of the application of EA in health. 2- proposed the 5tep Model, with five well-defined steps to help the implementation of the IS Architecture in HUs. 3- practical application of the 5tep Model together with TOGAF 9.2 and the Archi tool to build and deliver the IS Architecture of a large HU which seeks to improve the provision of services to the population through investments in ICT. As result, in addition to relevant data to the literature on EA and IS through the SLR and the 5tep Model, the delivered IS Architecture for this UH offers a holistic view of the entire ICT, in which identified problems, challenges, possible solutions, and critical success factors for the hospital business.

Strategy and Architecture of Health Care Information Systems by Michael K. Bourke Pdf

Information technology constantly changes and quickly becomes obsolete. The methodology of planning and implementing a health care information system, however, is more constant. Through practical, step-by-step guidelines, the author demonstrates how to establish the strategy and architecture against which vendor and system decisions must be made. Both management and technical perspectives are discussed. Thus, regardless of the technology used, the health care administrator and systems manager learn to implement information systems successfully and to link those systems with business strategy to achieve higher quality and more cost-effective patient care.

Hospital Information Systems : a Concise Study by Kelkar S. A. Pdf

Managing patients and hospital together is what hospital management systems is designed for! The software ensures that the applications involved in the workflow of health services, rely on accuracy in recording patient's demography and data, and accountability of hospital management. Written in a bulleted format, this book educates reader to overcome the shortcomings of hospital industry such as inadequate access to medical facilities, unassessed quality, and shortage of manpower. The book explains how information (like medical records or administrative records) can be stored, accessed and retrieved promptly; how a patient's record can be generated easily based on demography, gender, age, and so on; and how the system can help to monitor a patient's treatment procedure--starting from his/her ailment history, to present health condition, to recovery. The book also efficiently addresses the issues like security of the system and the investment strategies. Besides, the Appendices on topics like New Business Models and Applications, and Overview of Hospitals, add on to the applicative knowledge on the subject. Intended for the students of Hospital Information Systems (HIS)/Hospital Administration or an equivalent training programme, the book is well-suited for the healthcare practitioners (small or large organizations) to streamline their workflow process. The book will also be equally beneficial for the instructors teaching Hospital Administration in various healthcare and management institutes.
