Introduction to David Koresh by Gilad James, PhD Pdf

David Koresh was a cult leader who gained international notoriety in the early 1990s. Born Vernon Wayne Howell in 1959, he changed his name to David Koresh in the early 1980s. He joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in California in the 1970s, but was expelled due to his radical beliefs. Koresh then moved to Texas and began preaching his own version of Christianity. He founded the Branch Davidian sect, which had about 100 members living in a compound near Waco, Texas. Koresh believed that he was a messiah and had a direct line of communication with God. He interpreted the Bible in a unique way and believed that the end of the world was coming. In 1993, the compound was raided by the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms) after allegations of child abuse and weapons violations. The siege lasted 51 days and ended in tragedy when the FBI attempted to storm the compound, resulting in a fire that killed 76 members of the sect, including Koresh. The incident has been the subject of much controversy and investigation, with many questioning the tactics of law enforcement and the role of Koresh in the events that unfolded.

The Courage to Be Free by Ron DeSantis Pdf

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER / #1 WALL STREET JOURNAL BESTSELLER / #1 PUBLISHER'S WEEKLY BESTSELLER / #1 AMAZON BESTSELLER No American leader has accomplished more for his state than Governor Ron DeSantis. Now he reveals how he did it. He played baseball for Yale, graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, and served in Iraq and in the halls of Congress. But in all these places, Ron DeSantis learned the same lesson: He didn’t want to be part of the leftist elite. His heart was always for the people of Florida, one of the most diverse and culturally rich states in the union. Since becoming governor of the Sunshine State, he has fought—and won—battle after battle, defeating not just opposition from the political left, but a barrage of hostile media coverage proclaiming the end of the world. When he implemented COVID-19 policies based on evidence and focused on freedoms, the press launched a smear campaign against him, yet Florida’s economy thrived, its education system outperformed the nation, and Florida’s COVID mortality rate for seniors was lower than that in thirty-eight states. When he enacted policies to keep leftist political concepts like critical race theory and woke gender ideology out of Florida’s classrooms, the media demagogued his actions, but parents across Florida rallied to his cause. Dishonest attacks from the media don’t deter him. In fact, DeSantis keeps racking up wins for Floridians. In 2022, the governor delivered a historic, record-setting victory, winning by nearly 20 points and more than 1.5 million votes. A firsthand account from the blue-collar boy who grew up to take on Disney and Dr. Fauci, The Courage to Be Free delivers something rare from an elected leader: stories of victory. This book is a winning blueprint for patriots across the country. And it is a rallying cry for every American who wishes to preserve our liberties.

Summary of The Courage to be Free by Ron DeSantis:Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival by thomas francis Pdf

The Courage to be Free "The Courage to Be Free" by Ron DeSantis, published by HarperCollins in 2023, offers an in-depth look into the Florida governor's political ideology, executive decisions, and personal philosophy. The book positions DeSantis as a champion of conservative values, highlighting his battles against what he perceives as overreach by the federal government, the influence of "woke" culture, and his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in Florida. DeSantis advocates for a more assertive executive power, contrasting his previous stance on small government as a member of the Freedom Caucus. He justifies the use of executive power to regulate private institutions, drawing on his experiences to argue for the necessity of strong leadership in combating external pressures on American society and governance. The book also delves into DeSantis's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, where he adopted a stance favoring minimal restrictions on businesses and schools, aiming to balance public health concerns with economic and educational considerations. He criticizes the federal government's handling of the pandemic, particularly targeting figures like Dr. Anthony Fauci for their approach to lockdowns and school closures.

Standing His Ground by Richard Corcoran Pdf

Contrary to what the mainstream media has claimed, Florida under Ron DeSantis has become the home for freedom and individual liberty. At the onset of the pandemic, political leaders throughout the country were forced to quickly make significant decisions about how they would govern under extraordinary circumstances. A number of these decisions simply required instinct—they just had to come from the gut. There was little, if any, precedent to examine, and hardly any time for the usual gambits to test potential solutions. One person became a household name and a national hero for having made what proved to be the best decisions over and over: Ron DeSantis, the 46th governor of Florida. However, not surprisingly, his success also begot wrath. A patriot to millions of everyday Americans is often a “tyrant” to progressive elites. Other than perhaps former President Donald Trump, DeSantis was and remains the most vilified elected official in media, politics, entertainment, academia, and now the corporate world. Conservatives know full well this means he hit the bullseye. Now that more than two years have passed, the American people are able to clearly see whose decisions struck the proper balance between liberty and safety. There’s no denying that DeSantis’s influence soared as the world watched him successfully steer his state step by step through one of the greatest periods of turmoil and uncertainty in modern history. While many other states floundered, Florida didn’t just survive—it flourished.

The Challenges of Minoritized Contingent Faculty in Higher Education by Edna Chun,Alvin Evans Pdf

The Challenges of Minoritized Contingent Faculty in Higher Education offers a probing and unvarnished look at the employment challenges of these faculty members in four-year institutions. With dramatic shifts in the faculty workforce and nearly three-quarters of instructional positions in United States institutions now off the tenure track, contingent faculty have become the essential, frontline workers of higher education. Remarkably little research attention has focused on the experiences of minoritized contingent faculty in this new academic underclass. Based on in-depth interviews coupled with extensive research, the book highlights the double marginalization that can occur due to secondary employment status in the academic hierarchy, and the exclusion resulting from the intersectionality of nondominant social identities including race and ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability. As the first-person narratives reveal, these faculty often struggle for acceptance, recognition, and rewards in the day-to-day academic environment, and they can face devaluation of their contributions. As a pragmatic and concrete resource, this book offers proactive workforce strategies and key structural and policy recommendations that will assist academic and administrative leaders, including presidents, provosts, department chairs, and chief diversity officers, in building more inclusive working conditions for contingent faculty.
