Jesus v. Abortion by Charles K. Bellinger Pdf

There are three main positions that people adopt within the abortion debate: pro-life, muddled middle, and pro-choice. Jesus v. Abortion critiques the pro-choice and muddled middle positions, employing several unusual angles: (1) The question "What would Jesus say about abortion if he were here today?" is given very substantial treatment. (2) The abortion debate is usually conducted using moral and metaphysical arguments; this book adds in anthropological insights regarding the function of violence in human culture. (3) Rights language is employed by both sides of the debate, to opposite ends; this book leads the reader to ask deep questions about the concept of "rights." (4) The use of historical analogies in the abortion debate goes both directions, in the sense that both sides accuse the other of being similar to the defenders of slavery; this book contains what is probably the most sophisticated and sustained analysis of the meaning and legitimacy of such analogies. (5) Many important thinkers are brought into this conversation, such as Soren Kierkegaard, Eric Voegelin, Julien Benda, Simone Weil, Kenneth Burke, Richard Weaver, Rene Girard, Philip Rieff, Giorgio Agamben, Chantal Delsol, Paul Kahn, and David Bentley Hart.

The Anvil of Guilt and Shame by G. Spencer Schirs Pdf

History will show that one of the greatest lies ever told was that a baby is simply a choice! The second greatest lie ever told is that abortion is exclusively a woman's health issue. Lies are where Satan lives. Every abortion, is a victory for Satan. Every time a man is removed from the decision or refused the opportunity to create a family, it is a victory for Satan, and it brings darkness to the world. The abortion of my child was the worst choice of my life; the guilt and shame of that "choice" has negatively affected every aspect of my life. The weight of that abortion has hung over me like an anvil, crushing my spirit. Just as Satan fears the light of Christ and the truth in Jesus, the "prochoice crowd" fear men of God. Why? Because once a man surrenders to God's will, Satan has no power over them, and those men will lead their families as God intended. If I were wrong, then why is there so much effort to devalue the contributions of men and remove them from the discussion? Men need to realize that they have a voice in the abortion debate and need to be the men God has always intended them to be.

Jesus Was Also Pro-Choice? by Janus Rasmus Pdf

Jesus is portrayed in the Gospels not only as a defender of life but also as one not opposed to limited abortion in the sense that when we are given a choice of selecting only between two evils we must choose the lesser evil. There is evidence in both the Old Testament and the New Testament to provide justification for this view. Often we tend to take the following position of "either . . . or" attributed to Jesus by Matthew: " "He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters" (12:30). On the contrary, the Jesus of the Gospels is rather inclusive, according to Luke and Mark: "He who is not against you is for you" (Luke 9:50; Mark 9:40). That is, the basic pro-choice position is not diametrically opposed to the moderate pro-life position. Therefore, we can claim justifiably to be both pro life and pro choice, which phrases are not necessarily contradictory phrases but only contrary ones. In the words of the eminent scientist Neils Bohr, "Contraries are complementaries" ("Contraria sunt complementaria").

What's Really Going on with Pro-Roe V. Wade Catholic Politicians by Philip A. Rafferty Pdf

No committed Christian would support the proposition that a human being may be killed because he has yet to receive his future state of being (eternal life). Yet, the pro-Roe, Catholic politician supports the position that a human fetus may be killed because it cannot be certainly demonstrated that this fetus has received that state of being which makes him a human being. Suppose the fetus is not yet a human being, and is aborted. Is the pro-Roe, Catholic politician prepared to demonstrate that this fetus does not, hereby, lose his opportunity to receive eternal life? Is not this politician supporting the denial to another what he would not think of denying to himself: eternal life in Jesus Christ? Since Roe, fifty million human fetuses have been launched into eternity by pointy medical instruments. Roe and its progeny say that all of this killing is constitutionally permissible because, in keeping with the English common law, the human fetus does not qualify as a due process clause person. What if the Roe justices got this wrong—for lack of a 'working knowledge' of the status of the human fetus and abortion at the English common law? Philip Rafferty, through a working knowledge of abortion prosecution at the English common law, demonstrates that the Roe justices certainly got this wrong. So forget everything you think you know about the abortion controversy. It's time to knowWhat's Really Going On.The overruling of Roe v Wade is considered a dead issue. Rafferty has risen up this dead issue on Roe's own burial grounds. And he has done so with unparalleled, pointed legal scholarship. Ken R. Was Jesus Also Pro-Choice? by Zacharias P. Thundy Pdf

The Gospels portray Jesus not only as a champion of non-violence but also as one not violently and unequivocally opposed to limited abortion in the sense that, when our choice is only between two evils, we must choose the lesser evil. Evidence from the Hebrew scriptures subscribed to Jesus and his contemporaries as well as evidence from the Gospels provides justification for this claim. In other words, there is no evidence in the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures to claim that every abortion, which naturally is in itself an intrinsically evil or immoral action, is by itself a mortal sin deserving of capital punishment and eternal damnation. Therefore, the opposition between the generally understood pro-life stance, which purportedly claims that the fetus from the moment of conception is endowed with a human soul and thus a fully fledged human person, and the moderate pro-choice position, which tolerates limited abortion, say, during the first trimester of pregnancy. The first part of this short study will explain Jesus' or the Gospels' rather tolerant or not openly condemnatory view of the basic pro-choice position that not all abortions are necessarily homicide. The second part will show that the basic pro-life position--human life is sacred at all its stages--and the basic pro-choice position are rather complementary. Therefore, we can justifiably be both pro-life and pro-choice, which positions are not at all contradictory but only contrary, as in the motto of the eminent scientist Neils Bohr, "Contraries are complementary" ("Contraria sunt complementaria").

Rusty gives an incredibly detailed history and present backdrop of abortion, clear direct vision, and detailed short- and long-term strategy going forward on how to explicitly, biblically, effectively, abolish abortion and why we should do so from God’s perspective and not men. This book bleeds from a very faithful man of God of great depth of wisdom and character, distilled from many years of deep trials, tribulations, tears, heartbreak, experience, study, and deep personal sacrifice in the battle to abolish abortion. He addresses how God sees the situation, what He expects of us, the church, and how to engage. He details out the surprising enemies of abolition. He addresses questions, objections, in almost every conceivable way and in relation to all arenas. Abortion V. God's Amazing Grace by Ada Love Pdf

Each one of us has made choices in our lives that we regret. Some of these choices have minimal consequences, while other choices we have made can cause devastating outcomes. In her book, Abortion v. God's Amazing Grace, the author shares just that sort of choice that can have lifelong effects. Her choice to have an abortion was made at a moment when all she could hear were lies. Then, after it was too late to undo what she had done, truth was heard, reality set in, and the pain and hopelessness became unbearable. Thankfully, God does not leave us without hope. Through the author's story, you will see how God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, takes our sin, pain, and destruction and brings forgiveness and hope to our lives. You will witness a God who takes our brokenness and over and over again demonstrates His powerful love, forgiveness, grace, and healing. The author will share that God is always there. He is always love, and He waits to make each one of us whole. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. - 1 Peter 2:24

The Rebel Christ by Michael Coren Pdf

Once the darling of conservative Catholicism and evangelicalism, the outspoken broadcaster and journalist Michael Coren had what he terms as a profound conversion and began embracing the issues he had previously judged. It cost him his lucrative broadcasting career and made him the target of vitriol, but he found freedom in the radical and progressive nature of the gospel and is today its champion. In The Rebel Christ he explores what Jesus said about the pressing issues of his and our day. Jesus may not have mentioned sexuality, but welcomed outsiders and the marginalized; he never spoke of social security systems, but did criticize the wealthy and complacent and called for the poor to be protected; he didn’t side with the powerful but did condemn those who judged and exploited others and turned their eyes away from those in need and from the cry for justice. This was Jesus the rebel, Christ the radical, who turned the world upside down and who today demands that his followers do the same.

Roe V. Wade: Unraveling the Fabric of America by Philip A. Rafferty Pdf

You don't need religion to kill Roe v Wade constitutionally, although some pro-Roe politicians use religion (in reverse) to shield Roe from being killed so. Side A argues that supporting abortion-access contradicts Jesus Christ, the giver of "abundant life". Side B argues that the fetus unquestionably qualifies as a 5th (14th) Amendment person. The two arguments are laid side by side so people will quit confusing them. Since Roe, more than fifty million human fetuses (or for all any person knows really: human beings in their fetal stages) have been launched into eternity by pointy medical instruments. Roe and its progeny say that all of this killing is constitutionally permissible because, in keeping with the English common law, the human fetus or "child unborn" does not qualify as a 5th (14th) Amendment due process clause person. What if the Roe justices got this wrong—for lack of a "working knowledge" of the status of the human fetus (or unborn child) and abortion at the English common law? Philip Rafferty, through a working knowledge of abortion prosecution at the English common law, demonstrates that the Roe justices certainly got this wrong. So forget everything you think you know about the abortion controversy. It's time to know What's Really Going On.

Abortion and the Christian Tradition by Margaret D. Kamitsuka Pdf

Abortion remains the most contested political issue in American life. Poll results have remained surprisingly constant over the years, with roughly equal numbers supporting and opposing it. A common perception is that abortion is contrary to Christian teaching and values. While some have challenged that perception, few have attempted a comprehensive critique and constructive counterargument on Christian ethical and theological grounds.Margaret Kamitsuka begins with a careful examination of the churchs biblical and historical record, refuting the assumption that Christianity has always condemned abortion or that it considered personhood as beginning at the moment of conception. She then offers carefully crafted ethical arguments about the pregnant womans authority to make reproductive decisions and builds a theological rationale for seeing abortion as something other than a sin.
