Just My Style by J.M. Snyder Pdf

When hair stylist Jai Hathaway decided to open his own salon, he knew he would sacrifice some of his personal time to run the business. But long hours working late have him feeling lonely, and he just doesn't seem to connect with the few men he dates. His business partner Kiki suggests what he needs is to find a different type of guy, someone who isn't in the salon business, but not only does Jai not know how to find a guy like that, he isn't even sure where to look. On a particularly cold morning in January, the salon's hot water goes out and Jai scrambles to find a plumber on short notice. Enter Duane Schneider, sexy and confident, and interested in getting more than just Jai's hot water boiling. But he's so outside Jai's comfort zone that, at first, the stylist isn't sure how to react. When it becomes obvious Duane wants to continue things outside of business hours, though, Jai agrees to a date, if only to see where the evening might lead. Is Kiki right when she said Jai needed to find someone different? Or will Duane turn out to be just his style after all?

Just My Style by Jessica Alexander & Diane Z. Shore Pdf

Anna needs a haircut. But what style will she get? And who will she be? Anna's imagination takes over as her walk to the hair salon turns into a delightful tale of self-discovery, as each style she imagines copying--from a military crew cut to a glamorous movie star style and even being bald--plays out to an often-hilarious effect. Finally, she decides that being herself is the best choices. Playfully portrayed in rhyme by Diane Z. Shore and Jessica Alexander, and captured in rich colors by Kelly Canby's quirky art style, the easily readable text encourages readers to imagine their own-self identity. A touch of pink foil on the cover completes the package.

The Winemaker's Dinner: RSVP by Ivan Rusilko Pdf

Meet Dr. Ivan Rusilko: He's a doctor at a world-class medical facility in Miami, he's got a killer apartment on Miami Beach that overlooks Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline, and he's got a great group of friends and quite the social schedule. It's a pretty damned charmed life, but something's missing. He'd love a special someone to share it with--someone to laugh with, share his dreams with, and someone to just plain tickle his fancy. After a string of utterly forgettable blind dates and with no real prospects on the horizon, it's time to take action. On the long drive from Miami Beach to Sarasota, Florida, for the annual Winemaker's Dinner, Ivan makes a decision. He's taking charge of his love life--and his fate. RSVP is a short-story prequel to the highly anticipated erotic romance The Winemaker's Dinner: Appetizers by co-authors Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond. RSVP is an introduction to the romantic hero and real-life author Dr. Ivan Rusilko, and it marks the good doctor's solo writing debut.

The Letters of William Gaddis by William Gaddis Pdf

A revelatory collection of correspondence by the lauded author of titanic American classics such as The Recognitions and J R, shedding light on his staunchly private life. UPDATED WITH OVER TWO DOZEN NEW LETTERS AND PHOTOGRAPHS Now recognized as one of the giants of postwar American fiction, William Gaddis shunned the spotlight during his life, which makes this collection of his letters a revelation. Beginning in 1930 when Gaddis was at boarding school and ending in September 1998, a few months before his death, these letters function as a kind of autobiography, and also reveal the extent to which he drew upon events in his life for his fiction. Here we see him forging his first novel, The Recognitions (1955), while living in Mexico, fighting in a revolution in Costa Rica, and working in Spain, France, and North Africa. Over the next twenty years he struggles to find time to write the National Book Award–winning J R (1975) amid the complications of work and family; deals with divorce and disillusionment before reviving his career with Carpenter’s Gothic (1985); then teaches himself enough about the law to produce A Frolic of His Own (1994). Resuming his lifelong obsession with mechanization and the arts, he finishes a last novel, Agapē Agape (published in 2002), as he lies dying. This newly revised edition includes clarifying notes by Gaddis scholar Steven Moore, as well as an afterword by the author’s daughter, Sarah Gaddis.

Superstar in a Masquerade by William Sargent Pdf

Superstar in a Masquerade tells the story about Leon Russell, an award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, who was born with cerebral palsy, and learned to master the piano. He became an in-demand session man in Hollywood, contributing to thousands of songs by hundreds of artists, during his seven-decade career. He was called the "Rainbow Minister & Ringleader" for the Hippie Generation, and although most people can say they never heard of him, few can say they've never heard him. After reading this book, you can play "Three Degrees of Leon," just like the game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon," linking him to anyone, from B.B. King to ZZ Top. As an emigre from Oklahoma to California, he invited David Gates and J. J. Cale to join him in the music mecca known as Tinseltown, where the Tulsa Trio made untold contributions to America's popular music. Read about over five hundred artists, and their songs that Leon, David, and J. J. helped create, as well as... When seventeen-year-old Leon replaced Jerry Lee Lewis on stage in 1959. How Frank Sinatra caused Leon to let his hair grow. How J. J. Cale played a role in the formation of the band Bread. How Leon saved Joe Cocker's career and created Willie Nelson's famous image. When Elton John was Leon's opening act on tour. Why DC Comics sued Leon's record label for $2 million. When David Gates's band backed Chuck Berry on stage in 1961. When Leon brazenly threw the "F-bomb" at Phil Spector. When Leon called organized Christianity the single most harmful force in history. What Broadway song Leon borrowed from for "This Masquerade."

Reciprocal Ethnography and the Power of Women's Narratives by Elaine J Lawless Pdf

Folklorist Elaine J. Lawless has devoted her career to ethnographic research with underserved groups in the American Midwest, including charismatic Pentecostals, clergywomen, victims of domestic violence, and displaced African Americans. She has consistently focused her research on women’s speech in these contexts and has developed a new approach to ethnographic research which she calls "reciprocal ethnography," while growing a detailed corpus of work on women’s narrative style and expressive speech. Reciprocal ethnography is a feminist and collaborative ethnographic approach that Lawless developed as a challenge to the reflexive turn in anthropological fieldwork and research in the 1970s, which was often male-centric, ignoring the contributions by and study of women’s culture. Collected here for the first time are Lawless’s key articles on the topics of reciprocal ethnography and women’s narrative which influenced not only folklore, but also the allied fields of anthropology, sociology, performance studies, and women’s and gender studies. Lawless’s methods and research continue to be critically relevant in today’s global struggle for gender equality.
