Kilmartin by Raymond Walker Pdf

Finally A full compendium of my Kilmartin tales all consigned to the same volume. It is unlikely that I shall write of the place again. Not because I do not wish to nor because I feel that people are bored with those tales but rather just because I am growing older and have so much more to write about. I suspect I will get through only a fraction of the ideas that I have before I pop my clogs and so here you have all The three Kilmartin novels all together in one volume. I also have added, A long introduction to the stories for those that are interested and a new ""horror"" story as an introduction to them to tell (fictionally) how I came to Kilmartin in the fist place. Actually the rather long and rather dull Introduction tells the same tale with truth. Nestled in a quiet Glen on the west coast of Scotland lies the ancient village of Kilmartin.

Men's Violence Against Women by Christopher Kilmartin,Julie A. Allison Pdf

Men's Violence Against Womenoffers a balance of clinical and social psychological theory and research, as well as prevention and intervention techniques with the purpose of understanding and ultimately ending gender-based violence. The authors address several forms of violence, including rape, intimate partner violence, stalking, and sexual harassment in a contemporary linguistic style carefully crafted to avoid victim blaming. Although most men do not perpetrate violence against women, such violence is not a "women's" issue; it will take the strength and courage of both women and men to solve this human issue. This book moves full circle in its coverage of the topic as it explores the silent epidemic of men's violence against women, the grave consequences of this violence on both individuals and society, and the historical and current foundations that serve to both criminalize andtolerate men's violence against women. The authors describe a variety of efforts to treat both offenders and victims highlighting both their vital importance and their insufficiency in preventing violence. The final part of the book contains descriptions of model violence prevention approaches and techniques for implementing these programs. Readers are empowered as they discover how they can be part of the solution. Men's Violence Against Womenis intended as a text for courses in gender-based violence in a variety of disciplines including psychology, sociology, and women's, men's, and/or gender studies. The book is also a valuable resource for college and community gender-based violence prevention and intervention program providers.

Women in Prison by Barbara H. Zaitzow,Jim Thomas Pdf

It is old news that the conditions and policies of women's prisons are different from those for incarcerated men. Less evident, however, is how gender differences shape those policies, and how gender identity and roles shape women's adaptation and resistance to prison culture and control. The papers in this collection explore how the gender-based attitudes that women bring to prison frame how they respond to the prison environment -- and how gender stereotypes continue to affect the treatment and opportunities of incarcerated women today. It looks particularly at how the personal and social problems imported into the prison setting become part of the intricate web of prison culture and how extensively women's prison experience reflects the control and domination they experienced in the outside world.

Environmental Reconstruction in Headwater Areas by Martin F. Bach,Josef Krecek Pdf

These proceedings of a NATO Advanced Research Workshop on "Environmental Reconstruction in Headwater Areas" provide a landmark in the evolution of a distinctive movement, perhaps an emerging new philosophy, within the practice of headwater management. The Headwater Control movement traces its history back to the First International Conference on Headwater Control, Prague, 1989. Throughout this brief history, Headwater Control has remained a typical environment movement 'ad hocracy'. At its meetings, for every convert to the multidisciplinary, integrative, practical, interventionist, and above-all 'green' ideals of the group, there have been several delegates who have found the whole concept both new and slightly incomprehensible. One reason for this has been the Headwater Control practice of trying to bring together scientists, practitioners, policy-makers and non-government environmentalist organisations. The group's larger meetings have always been federal gatherings. Sponsorship has been shared with invited participation from associations representing hydrological science, soil conservation, erosion control, forestry, environmental activism and so forth. These delegations may have included fellow travellers in the work to protect headwater environments, but their main concerns have not necessarily coincided with the Headwater Control group's prescriptions for the environmental regeneration of headwater regions. The Liberec Workshop, whose proceedings are distilled into this volume, provided a first opportunity for the scattered supporters of Headwater Control to talk among themselves and fmd out to what degree there really is a shared vision of the way forward in headwater management, restoration and protection.

My Daring Duchess by Julie Johnstone Pdf

When a bluestocking bent on ruining rogues and a devilish duke set on revenge attempt to derail each other’s plans, passion erupts into a love for the ages. After being left brokenhearted by a duplicitous rake, Lady Anne Adair no longer desires a husband—she wants justice. She’s traded in her foolish dream of happily-ever-after for the much more sensible one of thwarting the blackhearted lords who prey on innocent debutantes. But her first mission proves rather complicated when the dashing Duke of Kilmartin comes to the aid of her target. Simon Sedgewick, the newly titled Duke of Kilmartin, never thought he would return to England, let alone attend a ball full of simpering lords. But when his oldest friend’s reputation is being smeared and Simon discovers that the perpetrator is none other than his enemy’s granddaughter, his long-festering desire for vengeance flares to life. The moment Simon spies Miss Anne Adair across the glittering ballroom, he knows that the ravishing beauty is the perfect instrument for the retribution he thought lost to him. He does not know, however, that Anne has devised a scheme of her own. And soon, these two wary hearts will discover that the best laid plans are no match for love.
