Knowing Creation by Zondervan, Pdf

It is hard to think of an area of Christian theology that provides more scope for interdisciplinary conversation than the doctrine of creation. This doctrine not only invites reflection on an intellectual concept: it calls for contemplation of the endlessly complex, dynamic, and fascinating world that human being inhabit. But the possibilities for wide-ranging discussion are such that scholars sometimes end up talking past one another. Productive conversation requires mutual understanding of insights across disciplinary boundaries. Knowing Creation offers an essential resource for helping scholars from a range of fields to appreciate one another's concerns and perspectives. In so doing, it offers an important step forward in establishing a mutually-enriching dialogue that addresses, amongst others, the following key questions: Who is the God who creates? Why does God create? What is "creation"? What does it mean to recognize that a theology of creation speaks of a natural world that is subject to the observation of the natural sciences? What does it mean to talk about both a "natural" order and a "created" order? What are the major tensions that have arisen between the natural sciences and Christian thinking historically, and why? How can we move beyond such tensions to a positive and constructive conversation, while also avoiding facile notions such as a "god of the gaps"? Is it feasible for a natural scientist to maintain a belief in God's continuing creative activity? In what ways might a naturalistic understanding of the natural world be said to be limited? How can biblical studies, theology, philosophy, history, and science talk better together about these questions? At a time when the doctrine of creation - and even a mention of "creation" - has been disparaged due to its supposed associations with anti-scientific dogma, and theological offerings sometimes risk appearing a little more than reactionary exercises in naive apologetics, ill-informed by science or distinctly wary of engagement with it, it is more important than ever to offer a cross-disciplinary resource that can voice a positive account of a Christian theology of creation, and do so as a genuinely broad-ranging conversation about science and faith. Contributors to Knowing Creation include Marilyn McCord Adams, Denis Alexander, Susan Eastman, C. Stephen Evans, Peter van Inwagen, Christoph Schwobel, John H. Walton, Francis Watson, and more. X

Conceptions of Knowledge Creation, Knowledge and Knowing by Yuh Huann Tan,Seng Chee Tan Pdf

This book responds to calls for further advancing knowledge creation in schools. It examines sixteen Chinese Language teachers from Singapore, since language teachers are primarily responsible for the basic literacy that is the foundation of students’ lifelong learning. Positing that people’s cultural beliefs and the language(s) they use are inseparable, the book argues that Chinese language teachers possess a unique understanding of the various phenomena that reflect the influences of Chinese culture by virtue of the language they speak and teach. For the purposes of the investigation, it employs phenomenography — a methodology aimed at finding and systematising how people interpret the world around them — to determine and describe Chinese language teachers’ conceptions of these phenomena.

Knowing the Truth About Creation by Norman L. Geisler Pdf

Are human beings a mere product of the cosmos with no future in eternity? Or are we infinitely more valuable than any other creatures on earth? Can we put a price tag on human life? How should we treat marginal members of society: those whiling away empty days in nursing homes, the terminally ill, the unborn child? Norman Geisler believes that many of us have become confused about these vital issues. In 'Knowing the Truth about Creation', he delves into the biblical, philosophical, and scientific case for the Christian view of creation. The result is a fascinating look at creation and the Creator.

On Creation, Science, Disenchantment and the Contours of Being and Knowing by Matthew W. Knotts Pdf

For Augustine the world is replete with meaning; it represents not merely a collection of facts to be catalogued but a repository of truths to be discovered and discerned, a view which contrasts with the one we have inherited as a result of the thought of figures such as Descartes, Newton, and Kant. What difference would it make to see the world as created? Matthew W. Knotts explores this question in close conversation with Augustine, according to whom our nature as God's creatures determines fundamental aspects of our identity and our knowledge. In a postmodern context informed by a renewed appreciation of the limitations of human nature and reason, Augustine once again emerges as an insightful and compelling source for further reflection.

Knowing the Infinite Creator by Angel V. Ornedo Jr. Pdf

If you live as a purpose, objective driven person, a human being of persistence and substance, you will find this book very informative, a perspective of how to be successful in any of your positive endeavours, spiritual in objectivity, scientific in perspective and written with a real eye for service to other people. If your desires are only material in nature, this may not fit your profile as this book is a combination of success of spiritually and scientifically driven people, materially and spiritually with a major touch of helping other people as this is the real intention of the writer, learning and knowing how to serve others as service to others is service to the CREATOR. Abundance is a positive way of helping people and the Universe supplies everyone this wealth continuously, endlessly and without exhaustion!! Chapters I, II and III are devoted to our Maker, the Infinite Creator, Infinity, the Source Energy and names he is often called ALL THERE IS/ALL THAT IS. God gave us free will and no one, not even the Angels and the Higher Beings, RA, Christ or other Icons can violate this, otherwise they will come back to the Wisdom vibration and density of soul development. We have guardians, confederates and spiritual guides who are always there to guide us but they can never violate this rule, FREE WILL is given to us humans and all the entities of creation be they at the 4th or the seventh density of existence. Human beings have a penchant for discovery of things that have been discovered in the past. We always say we discovered, innovated or created when in fact as you read from artifacts of yore or the libraries of Nineveh discovered in Southern Iraq or Mesopotamia, almost everything we have today have been discovered or are in use during those times including lap tops, geodetic laser measuring devices, jet planes, helicopters, airplanes even tractors. Tractors are described as roaring machines that cultivates the soil in Africa. Take it from author Zechariah Sitchin and you will wonder. Thus the human being is a Creator itself created by the Maker to create beautiful things so Infinity can experience it thru us. We even duplicated and know and applied in our power systems the basic creation of God, Fusion. The olden civilizations, that in Egypt, and the Americas are filled with facts that detail achievements of the human race and teachings that are truth but today have been adulterated to appear as possible witchcraft when in fact are real descriptions of the Law of One taught by the golden people of Venus, that of RA social memory complex and the higher beings of nearby stars which can be seen at our dark night stars of Arcturus and Sirius. The Orion star are of the negative origin and their teachings are yes, negatives like that one we call Yahweh who masquerade teaching positive but in the real sense negative. Again these are the teachings of Thou Shalt Not as it gives to you the negatives. Why would you teach thou shalt not kill! You can simply say Though shall love thy neighbour as you love thyself! This is the positive way, never an inkling of bad that will definitely sink in our one year old brain, always a year old so says the adept. Our world has been a belligerent, troubled civilization as far as my memories can remember, World War I, II and the Cold War, from my childhood to the present. Biblical Knowing by Dru Johnson Pdf

The importance of human knowledge and the consequences of error are constantly stressed within Scripture, which emphasizes the knowledge of good and evil: knowing that YHWH IS your God; knowing that Jesus is the Christ; and the goal of developing Israel into a 'wise and discerning people'. We, too, long for confidence in our understanding - the assurance that our most basic knowledge is not ultimately incorrect. Biblical Knowing assesses what Israel knew, but more importantly, how she was meant to know - introducing a comprehensive scriptural epistemology, firmly rooted in the Scripture's own presentation of important epistemological events in the story of Israel. Because modern philosophy has also made authoritative claims about knowledge, Biblical Knowing engages contemporary academic views of knowledge (e.g., Reformed Epistemology, scientific epistemology, Virtue Epistemology, etc) and recent philosophical method (e.g., Analytic Theology), assessing them for points of congruence ordeparture from Scripture's own epistemology. Additionally, Biblical Knowing explores what proper knowing looks like in the task of theology itself, in the teaching and preaching of the church, and in the context of counseling.

The Dash-The Other Side of Absolute Knowing by Rebecca Comay,Frank Ruda Pdf

An argument that what is usually dismissed as the “mystical shell” of Hegel's thought—the concept of absolute knowledge—is actually its most “rational kernel.” This book sets out from a counterintuitive premise: the “mystical shell” of Hegel's system proves to be its most “rational kernel.” Hegel's radicalism is located precisely at the point where his thought seems to regress most. Most current readings try to update Hegel's thought by pruning back his grandiose claims to “absolute knowing.” Comay and Ruda invert this deflationary gesture by inflating what seems to be most trivial: the absolute is grasped only in the minutiae of its most mundane appearances. Reading Hegel without presupposition, without eliminating anything in advance or making any decision about what is essential and what is inessential, what is living and what is dead, they explore his presentation of the absolute to the letter. The Dash is organized around a pair of seemingly innocuous details. Hegel punctuates strangely. He ends the Phenomenology of Spirit with a dash, and he begins the Science of Logic with a dash. This distinctive punctuation reveals an ambiguity at the heart of absolute knowing. The dash combines hesitation and acceleration. Its orientation is simultaneously retrospective and prospective. It both holds back and propels. It severs and connects. It demurs and insists. It interrupts and prolongs. It generates nonsequiturs and produces explanations. It leads in all directions: continuation, deviation, meaningless termination. This challenges every cliché about the Hegelian dialectic as a machine of uninterrupted teleological progress. The dialectical movement is, rather, structured by intermittency, interruption, hesitation, blockage, abruption, and random, unpredictable change—a rhythm that displays all the vicissitudes of the Freudian drive.

Being and Knowing by Frederick D. Wilhelmsen Pdf

Frederick D. Wilhelmsen’s Being and Knowing, rooted in the philosophy of St. Thomas Aquinas, rests on two basic assertions: first, metaphysics is the science of being in its first and ultimate act, existence (the act by which all things manifest themselves); second, that existence is known not through observing objects, but in affirming through judgments that these objects are subjects of existence. The chapters of this book explore these Thomistic doctrines. Some explain St. Thomas Aquinas’s philosophy of being. Others probe his epistemology. The complexity and density of Aquinas’s theory of judgment (that truth is realized in the judgment of man), emphasized throughout most of the book, point not only to a deeper understanding of the nature of metaphysics, but they open doors to the clarification of philosophical issues germane to contemporary thought. This work addresses a number of metaphysical philosophical paradoxes. Wilhelmsen’s exploration of them demonstrates why he was the preeminent American scholar of the Thomistic tradition. This volume is part of Transaction’s series, the Library of Conservative Thought.

Knowing Our Triune God by Richard W. Gilbert Pdf

God made and placed man on the earth so that man would not only have a cognitive, “head,” knowledge of Him but also a “heart” relationship with him. He wanted man to know him objectively and intimately and has given mankind everything needed for that to be a reality. God wants us to not only know that he loves us, but he wants us to love him back! The more that we know about him, the more we will love him! An essential part of that knowledge of God is that He is the Triune God: the Trinity. How well do we understand this truth? How do the three persons of the Godhead interrelate to one another? What does each do in our lives that only He can do? In this deductive study of God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) we look first at those truths that belong corporately to each Person of the Godhead. Then, we individually look at those characteristics, qualities, attributes, and works that are specific to each one. Throughout we will progressively see who this One is; who is our Father, our Savior, our Comforter and the depth of the relationship we are to have with Him.
