Stabilization, Safety, and Security of Distributed Systems by Sandeep Kulkarni,Andre Schiper Pdf

This volume contains the proceedings of the 10th International Symposium on Stabilization, Safety, and Security of Distributed Systems (SSS), held November 21–23, 2008 in Detroit, Michigan USA. SSS started as the Workshop on Self-Stabilizing Systems (WSS), which was ?rst held at Austin in 1989. From the second WSS in Las Vegas in 1995, the - rum was held biennially, at Santa Barbara(1997),Austin (1999), Lisbon (2001), San Francisco (2003) and Barcelona (2005). The title of the forum changed to the Symposium on Self-Stabilizing Systems (SSS) in 2003. Since 2005, SSS was run annually, and in 2006 (Dallas) the scope of the conference was extended to cover all safety and security-related aspects of self-* systems. This extension followed the demand for self-stabilization in various areas of distributed c- puting including peer-to-peer networks, wireless sensor networks, mobile ad-hoc networks, robotic networks. To re?ect this change, the name of the symposium changed to the International Symposium on Stabilization, Safety, and Security of Distributed Systems (SSS). This year we received 43 submissions from 13 countries. Most submissions were from the USA and France. Each submission was carefully reviewed by three to six Program Committee members with the help of external reviewers. For the ?rst time a rebuttal phase allowed the authors to react to the reviews beforethediscussionofthepaperswithintheProgramCommittee. SDL 2009: Design for Motes and Mobiles by Rick Reed,Attila Bilgic,Reinhard Gotzhein Pdf

This volume contains the papers presented at the 14th SDL Forum, Bochum, Germany entitled Design for Motes and Mobiles. The SDL Forum has been held every two years for the last three decades and is one of the most important open events in the calendar for anyone from academia or industry involved in System DesignLanguagesandmodelling technologies. It is a primary conference event for discussion of the evolution and use of these languages. The most recent innovations, trends, experiences, and concerns in the ?eld are discussed and presented. The SDL Forum series addresses issues related to the modelling and analysis of reactive systems, distributed systems, and real-time and complex systems such as telecommunications, automotive, and aerospace applications. The intended audience of the series includes users of modelling techniques in industrial, research, and standardization contexts, as well as tool vendors and language researchers. Of course, during the last three decades languages, associated methods, and tools have evolved and new ones have been developed. The application domain haschangedalmostbeyondrecognition. Threedecadesagothemobiletechnology of today was science ?ction, whereas now we ?nd software systems embedded in inexpensive childrens’ toys. More recently multi-core processors have become common technology for consumer computers, and are beginning to be applied in smalldevices. Eveninsmallco-operating,independently poweredremotedevices (such as motes and mobile phones), there is enough memory and processing power to support quite sophisticated operating systems and applications.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the Third International Symposium on Applications of Graph Transformations, AGTIVE 2007, held in Kassel, Germany, in October 2007. The 30 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited papers were carefully selected from numerous submissions during two rounds of reviewing and improvement. The papers are organized in topical sections on graph transformation applications, meta-modeling and domain-specific language, new graph transformation approaches, program transformation applications, dynamic system modeling, model driven software development applications, queries, views, and model transformations, as well as new pattern matching and rewriting concepts. The volume moreover contains 4 papers resulting from the adjacent graph transformation tool contest and concludes with 9 papers summarizing the state of the art of today's available graph transformation environments.

Stabilization, Safety, and Security of Distributed Systems by Shlomi Dolev,Jorge Cobb,Michael Fischer,Moti Yung Pdf

The papers in this volume were presented at the 12th International Sym- sium on Stabilization, Safety, and Security of Distributed Systems (SSS), held September 20–22, 2010 at Columbia University, NYC, USA. The SSS symposium is an international forum for researchersand practiti- ers in the design and development of distributed systems with self-* properties: (theclassical)self-stabilizing,self-con?guring,self-organizing,self-managing,se- repairing,self-healing,self-optimizing,self-adaptive,andself-protecting. Research in distributed systems is now at a crucial point in its evolution, marked by the importance of dynamic systems such as peer-to-peer networks, large-scale wi- lesssensornetworks, mobileadhocnetworks, cloudcomputing, roboticnetworks, etc. Moreover, new applications such as grid and web services, banking and- commerce, e-health and robotics, aerospaceand avionics, automotive, industrial process control, etc. , have joined the traditional applications of distributed s- tems. SSS started as the Workshop on Self-Stabilizing Systems (WSS), the ?rst two of which were held in Austin in 1989 and in Las Vegas in 1995. Starting in 1995, the workshop began to be held biennially; it was held in Santa Barbara (1997), Austin (1999), and Lisbon (2001). As interest grew and the community expanded, the title of the forum was changed in 2003 to the Symposium on Self- Stabilizing Systems (SSS). SSS was organized in San Francisco in 2003 and in Barcelona in 2005. As SSS broadened its scope and attracted researchers from other communities, a couple of changes were made in 2006. It became an - nual event, and the name of the conference was changed to the International Symposium on Stabilization, Safety, and Security of Distributed Systems (SSS).
