This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Applications of Graph Transformations with Industrial Relevance, AGTIVE 2003, held in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA in September/October 2003. The 27 revised full papers and 11 revised demo papers presented together with 2 invited papers and 5 workshop reports were carefully selected during iterated rounds of reviewing and revision. Graphs constitute well-known, well-understood, and frequently used means to depict networks of related items in different application domains. Various types of graph transformation approaches - also called graph grammars or graph rewriting systems - have been proposed to specify, recognize, inspect, modify, and display certain classes of graphs representing structures of different domains. Research activities based on Graph Transformations (GT for short) constitute a well-established scientific discipline within Computer Science. The proceedings of these events give a good documentation about research in the GT field. These activities (1) bring together the international community in a viable scientific discussion, (2) integrate different approaches, and (3) build a bridge between theory and practice.

Graph Transformations by Hartmut Ehrig,Gregor Engels,Francesco Parisi-Presicce,Grzegorz Rozenberg Pdf

ICGT 2004 was the 2nd International Conference on Graph Transformation, following the first one in Barcelona (2002), and a series of six international workshops on graph grammars with applications in computer science between 1978 and 1998. ICGT 2004 was held in Rome (Italy), Sept. 29-Oct. 1, 2004 under the auspices of the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS), the European Association of Software Science and Technology (EASST), and the IFIP WG 1.3, Foundations of Systems Specification. The scope of the conference concerned graphical structures of various kinds (like graphs, diagrams, visual sentences and others) that are useful when describing complex structures and systems in a direct and intuitive way. These structures are often augmented with formalisms that add to the static description a further dimension, allowing for the modelling of the evolution of systems via all kinds of transformations of such graphical structures. The field of graph transformation is concerned with the theory, applications, and implementation issues of such formalisms. The theory is strongly related to areas such as graph theory and graph algorithms, formal language and parsing theory, the theory of concurrent and distributed systems, formal specification and verification, logic, and semantics. The application areas include all those fields of computer science, information processing, engineering, and the natural sciences where static and dynamic m- elling using graphical structures and graph transformations, respectively, play important roles. In many of these areas tools based on graph transformation technology have been implemented and used

Model Driven Architecture - Foundations and Applications by Richard F. Paige,Alan Hartman,Arend Rensink Pdf

The ?fth edition of the European Conference on Model-Driven Architecture Foundations and Applications (ECMDA-FA 2009) was dedicated to furthering the state of knowledge and fostering the industrialization of Model-Driven - chitecture (MDA) and Model-Driven Engineering (MDE). MDA is an initiative proposed by the Object Management Group for platform-generic systems - velopment; MDA is one of a class of approaches under the umbrella of MDE. MDE and MDA promote the use of models in the speci?cation, design, analysis, synthesis, deployment, and evolution of complex software systems. It is a pleasure to be able to introduce the proceedings of ECMDA-FA 2009. ECMDA-FA 2009 addressed various MDA areas including model transfor- tions, modelling language issues, modelling of behavior and time, traceability and scalability, model-basedembedded systems engineering, and the application of model-driven development to IT and networking systems. ECMDA-FA 2009 focused on engaging key European and international - searchers and practitioners in a dialogue which will result in a stronger, more e?cientindustry,producingmorereliablesoftwareonthebasisofstate-of-the-art research results. ECMDA-FA is a forum for exchanging information, discussing the latest results and arguing about future developments of MDA and MDE. Particularly, it is one of the few venues that engages both leading academic researchers and industry practitioners, with the intent of creating synergies.
