Little Bits of Joy by Dena Plotner Mumm Pdf

Little Bits of Joy& wisdom from a very good dog is a book for anyone who has ever loved a dog with all their heart, and especially for those who have had the privilege of being the beloved companion to a dog who has the ability to teach them to truly appreciate the innate wonder of life. Brinkley was such a dog. From the moment he joined our family he began to instruct us, beginning with a valuable lesson on starting over and learning to love again after the devastating loss of our previous dog. Over the years he would also lend his wisdom to me as I suffered the loss of the job I was planning to retire from and where all of my closest friends still worked, navigated various health challenges with aging family members, and just generally helped me learn to roll with the changes that had become the new norm for my once very stable life. I have always felt that our dogs model some of Gods finest characteristics, such as selflessness and humility, better than many humans, and Brinkley certainly taught me a lot about these traits. And yet, he also had a wonderful sense of humor and the ability to lighten our moods, even in the tough times. Finally, he was even able to teach me how to say goodbye with grace, and to embrace the circle of life as he departed to make his journey to Rainbow Bridge and a new puppy joined us to complete our little family once again. Little Bits of Joy is a glimpse into just how rewarding life can be when it is shared with a cherished companion, one who ultimately helps us realize our best selves through our selfless love for others.

Everything Is (Not) Fine by Katie Schnack Pdf

Sometimes the world knocks us flat on our butt. We feel stretched further than we ever thought physically, emotionally, or spiritually possible. And though we are torn up inside, we feel like we need to keep our chin up and put a good face on things. So we pretend that everything is fine, even though it's not. Even in the hardest times, strength from God rises from deep in our soul to keep us going. In this honest, inspirational, and humorous book, Katie Schnack goes deep into the hard stuff of life with no sugar coating or toxic positivity to find sustenance she could not imagine. Faced with a child's medical challenges in the midst of a global pandemic, having strength to get up in the morning and actually enjoy the day was so unlikely that she knew it had to come from God. Schnack's plucky authenticity shows us how when life is complicated, self-compassion and humor can bring healing and life. Everything Is (Not) Fine looks at the hard realities of life, but also gently reminds us of the good. Even in dark times, we can get glimpses of light.

'Twill Be All Right Come Mornin', Luv by Irene Hope-Hedrick Pdf

Irene Hope Hedrick has returned with Volume 2 of her memoir. A gifted writer and storyteller, she can still recite from Robert Louis Stevenson's poem From A Railway Carriage. Irene's father read William Blake to her as a child, called her by her nickname, "Our I." She learned early that "Infinity is in the here and now," and that "Eternity demands, is relentless." Her father also told her: "If you grow up with a kind heart and a sense of love, you'll live to be a hundred." Irene intends to, even as she invites you to listen to her stories from the depression, World War II in England, marriage to a Yankee soldier and immigration to the United States. If, as it is said, "Charity can be given with an empty hand, with a kind word" Irene has been charitable in the gift of these hopeful tales. She includes quotes by thinkers as diverse as Plato, Herodotus, song lyrics, and wisdom-bearing language. Read and be nourished. Ann Staley, teacher, poet & essayist, author of Primary Sources

Know God, Pursue Happiness by Jeffrey Dutton Pdf

Secular America tells us that God does not exist. We live in a time when a large part of our government, the media, much of academia, and a secular culture are doing everything they can to deny us our God. They have given us many "false gods", seeking to both deny God and provide a replacement ideology. The government, especially, has for decades sought to deny the import of God in our lives at every turn, while enacting laws, policies, and regulations that make it easier for citizens to turn to it for safety, security and even survival. The God that is available to us for the asking wants to help us identify our life's purpose, and to guide us on our life's path to achieve that purpose. I believe that He also wants us to understand Him, and some day come to be with Him. It is our divine duty to know God personally, to understand Him, and to allow Him to help us achieve our life's purpose.

Beyond Productivity by Kim Hensley Owens,Derek Van Ittersum Pdf

In Beyond Productivity, a wide range of contributors share honest narratives of the sometimes-impossible conditions that scholars face when completing writing projects. The essays provide backstage views of the authors' varying approaches to moving forward when the desire to produce wanes, when deciding a project is not working, when working within and around and redefining academic productivity expectations, and when writing with ever-changing bodies that do not always function as expected. This collection positions scholarly writers' ways of writing as a form of flexible, evolving knowledge. By exhibiting what is lost and gained through successive rounds of transformation and adaptation over time, the contributors offer a sustainable understanding and practice of process—one that looks beyond productivity as the primary measure of success. Each presents a fluid understanding of the writing process, illustrating its deeply personal nature and revealing how fragmented and disjointed methods and experiences can highlight what is precious about writing. Beyond Productivity determines anew the use and value of scholarly writing and the processes that produce it, both within and beyond the context of the losses, constraints, and adaptations associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
