Neighbors did all they could, holding fundraisers and offering shoulders to cry on, but no matter how many doctors, tests, or surgeries, no one could figure out what was wrong with her. Turns out her mom, Patty Watts, was just a really good liar. After serving five years in prison, Patty gets out with nowhere to go and begs her daughter to take her in. The entire community is shocked when Rose Gold says yes. Patty insists all she wants is to reconcile their differences. She says she’s forgiven Rose Gold for turning her in and testifying against her. But Rose Gold knows her mother. Patty Watts always settles a score. Swansea, South Wales, was largely destroyed during the bombings of World War II. But life went on as the city filled with British, Canadian, and then American soldiers. Dances were held at Mumbles Pier and the Brangwyn Hall. Friendships and romances began and ended. The letters written by Mary to her American soldier give the reader a glimpse into the life of a young woman in love with a stranger during wartime. Although intended only for her soldier, through her letters we get to know a family with sons away at war and children still in school. We learn of engagements and weddings. We're treated to delicious neighborhood gossip. We learn of relatives and friends who come and go to the house in Manselton Road. Mary also shares the songs she loves and the films she sees with her friends and her mother. And of course, we are witnesses to the love affair between Mary and her soldier, a relationship challenged not only by war. These letters express the intimate hopes of a young woman and the enduring life of a city. Through these letters we are able to appreciate a generation of young people establishing relationships and their own identities in a time of war.
When the young psychiatrist, Dr. Aaron Dispenmore, during his evening walk with his daughter, Laurie, helped a stranger girl on the street to find a bus stop, he couldn't have known that this ordinary event would turn his life upside down, and lead him to the a scientific discovery worthy of a Nobel Prize. But, this discovery could end up potentially deathly ... Which way had Fate chosen for him then – triumph or death? Or maybe both? Clay Mask is a deeply psychological story of love, and the tragedy of mental illness; the story that is searching for the meaning and goals of humans' existence, but is also full of dangerous adventure. It's a novel. However, it is based on a true research study of the secrets of a human brain - its connections to the holographic universe, three-dimensional time, and the endless, mysterious, unbelievable possibilities hidden in 90 percent of its unopened part.
To tell this story I have to start somewhere. These letters (and there are almost 300 of them) have been in three boxes, all tied together with a double wrap of cord. They have been tied up in those boxes for over fi fty years; a few of the early letters are fi fty-nine years old. One box was a four-pound, heart shaped Fanny Farmer candy box. One of the white gift shirt boxes contained a white satin night gown, a blue print rayon dress which I had made, and a small knitted, very dainty looking blue baby sweater, which I also had made. Once I tied them together I never looked at them again until now, and I really regret that I did not do it sooner. There are so many questions I would ask, but now it is too late.

Henry George by Henry George,Kenneth C. Wenzer Pdf
More than a century after his death in 1897, Henry George remains one of the most original and influential economic thinkers in American history. His revolutionary theory on land taxation gained a tremendous following, reshaped the nation's political and economic debate, and continues today to be a widely discussed and controversial subject throughout the world. George's seminal work was Progress and Poverty (1879), but as a reformer, economist, journalist, and political candidate he wrote scores of articles on a vast array of topics, including political thought, election reform, immigration, labor, Lincoln, presidential campaigns, private property, socialism, industrialization, Ireland, Australia, the Chinese in California, and his race for mayor of New York City. His writing shaped a generation of statesmen and intellectuals, including Winston Churchill, Robert La Follette, Clarence Darrow, George Bernard Shaw, and Milton Friedman. Despite his profound influence on economic thought and American reform, he remains understudied, in part because many of his writings appeared in obscure journals, long-defunct daily newspapers, and long out-of-print collections. This four-volume set rectifies this problem by gathering all of George's hard-to-find articles and essays in one comprehensive edition. It also includes the first biographical sketch of him, written in 1884 and never before republished, as well as numerous articles he wrote during his tour of Australia in 1890. Edited by noted George scholar Kenneth C. Wenzer, each article is reprinted in its original form with annotations. There is a general introduction to each volume. A timeline of George's activities and travels is also included.
