This is followed by a review of the literature on mail-order brides & international marriages; information on the global & historical context for the arrival of Filipino mail-order brides in Canada, including the root causes of migration from the Philippines, immigration policies, and the growth of the Canadian Filipino community. Section 5 recounts six stories of Filipino mail-order brides and section 6 presents a profile of the 40 study participants.
