Thus too in ev'ry conflict, ev'ry strife, Distress of nations, and alarms of war, In all the varied ills of human life, We look to Thee, our bright and morning star. They who by faith the promises receive, Are cheer'd and guided in the darkest hour; While all things else may fail us or deceive, With Thee abide unchanging love and power. All earthly kingdoms fall, their crowns decay, The links of earthly greatness time will sever; Their fading glory but proclaims the day When Thou shalt claim the throne, and reign for ever.
