Nectar #29 by Babaji Bob Kindler,Swami Brahmeshananda,Annapurna Sarada,Lex Hixon,Rev Canon Charles P Gibbs,Nahid Angha,Shivakumar Viswanathan,Swami Aseshananda Pdf

With a reverence for the universality of all religions, SRV Associations, under the auspice of its Chosen Ideals, Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda, offers its 29th issue of Nectar of Nondual Truth into the world-wide community of truth seekers everywhere. The purpose is twofold: first, that religion aligned with philosophy get disseminated and become available to humanity in this trouble-prone day and age; second, that through this divine dispensation, the principle of Universality — the truth of all religions — gets propagated as well. For, as we often say in SRV Loka, “There is no such thing as a foreign religion; all religions are indigenous to your soul.” To this fine end, then, we are to laud and applaud all Nectar contributors towards this singular principle, writers and spiritual leaders from both different walks of life, and from various traditions as well. They are fine examples of the potential of a people united in a world of beings and societies who only grant lip-service to such high-minded causes, but seldom follow through in action and in realization. As Swami Vivekananda has pleaded, “When will man finally be friend to man?”

Nectar of Non-Dual Truth (and its dedicated staff) are both delighted and privileged to bring our revered readership a further offering of Nonduality and Universalism in the noble spirit of interreligious unity and harmony. This gift, a blessing from the Divine Mother of the Universe, presents ingenuous and inestimable installments of dharmic teachings from the sacred traditions of Buddhism, Jainism, Sufism, Taoism, and Vedanta, with additional articles, clips, and key quotes about other paths and ways of inner contemplation in accompaniment. Of the many and remarkable subjects, tenets, and axioms that grace the pages of this issue of Nectar, perhaps ahimsa, nonviolence, takes precedence, and vies for the lion’s share of our attentions and consideration. Another important philosophical facet, that of time, corresponds subsequentially, for humanity needs more of this graceful quality in order to work out its tendencies towards harmfulness and realize the utter and ultimate futility of all acts of aggression.

Nectar #33 by Swami Brahmeshananda,Annapurna Sarada,Rabbi Rami Shapiro,Swami Bhuteshananda,Babaji Bob Kindler,Lex Hixon,Llewellyn Vaughn-Lee,Swami Aseshananda Pdf

In an issue dedicated almost entirely to the spiritual artform of meditation, Nectar of Nondual Truth explores and presents this most needed and necessary facet of spiritual life through the lighted windows of various religious traditions in conscious operation in today’s world. Yogic-based eight-limbed meditation upon everything from objects in matter, to the realization of a yogi’s conscious Essence is taken up. Meditation on the timeless, beneficial utterance of divine names in a tradition that also favors Reality as nameless, is studied thoroughly by a Rabbi via the Jewish tradition. Then, even the very breath that utters the divine names is inspected in an article on meditation by a teacher in the Sufi tradition. The striking and sobering question asked in several traditions of India, that of “Who Am I,” is looked at first hand by an advanced meditator on personal retreat in the Ch’an Zen tradition, who then also takes his place as an interviewer to question a Japanese Roshi about meditation practice in the Soto Zen tradition. Three revered Swamis of the Ramakrishna Order offer up their insights into this superlative examination of meditation and meditator, from different perspectives. Specifically, the very purpose of sitting still and looking within to find the purpose of the entire practice is presented by a long-time practitioner, and finally, an article scrutinizing this most subtle of all yogas from the succinctly nondual position is pondered via the noble Advaita Vedanta perspective. Thus does this age-old and crucial principle of inmost practice — known in Raja Yoga as the singular doorway to Samadhi or Nirvana, — receive a thorough observation from all angles of sensitive, experienced, human awareness.

Nectar #31 by Lex Hixon,Babaji Bob Kindler,Swami Brahmeshananda,Annapurna Sarada,Rabbi Rami Shapiro,Father Bruno Barnhart,John Dobson,Swami Aseshananda Pdf

It remains somewhat of a mystery, even after all the advantages of contemporary times have been lavishly bestowed upon present day humanity, that the ills of pervasive suffering still persist on the world scene. Of course, we know from the Buddha’s declaration of His Four Noble Truths, that suffering here on Earth will never go away entirely. Still, unnecessary suffering, a type of misery that has viable solutions, also remains constant — despite the fact that humanity has had plenty of time to apply these readily available stopgaps. When looking at this perplexing situation, the conscious observer cannot but notice, often painfully so, that narrowness of mind lies at the root of both the problem of suffering itself, and its tardy removal. In view of all this, when one considers ultimate solutions, there is nothing that compares with that of Universality. Universal religious outlook, universal philosophical perspective, universal compassion, universal service of mankind, a more universal mindset — even a more universally-based business and politics — all would be welcome alternatives to the ponderous and ineffective arsenal of methodical weapons that nations and peoples are presently utilizing to try to stem the tide of pervasive human suffering. True, religion nowadays has become an obvious caricature of itself, and philosophy has turned into a job and a career instead of a means for the revelation of truth. Even altruistic service, after the many attempts it has made towards drying up the ocean of human misery, has shown us its limitations and its downside.

Nectar Gaze and Poison Breath by Aditya Malik Pdf

This book offers a detailed study of the oral narrative of Shri Devnarayan along with the first English translation of this popular Rajasthani folk narrative. The narrative extolling the deeds of Lord Devnarayan is performed by itinerant singers during all night vigils in front of a 9-meter long, elaborately painted cloth scroll that depicts scenes and characters from the story. Aditya Malik uses the narrative to explore and ask a range of innovative questions relevant to the study of Indian folk culture and Hinduism as a whole: How is orality conceptualized and practiced? What is the relationship between spoken and visual signs? How do Devnarayan's devotees create multiple discourses concerning religion, community, and history within and though the medium of the narrative? Malik's analysis suggests that the narrative provides a framework for establishing linkages between different communities, past and present, spoken word and visual image, as well as contending religious ideologies. His interpretation is interspersed with excerpts from interviews with devotees and singers, other tales and texts, and observations from his field research that together invoke the worlds created by the narrative.

Nectar #21 by Babaji Bob Kindler,Swami Aseshananda,Michelle Levey,Joel Levey,Lex Hixon,Rabbi Rami Shapiro Pdf

The profound and revered religious and spiritual pathways of Judaism, Buddhism, Tantra, and Vedanta all grace the pages of this issue of Nectar of Nondual Truth with their simultaneously sententious yet congenial teachings, revealing anew and for our highest benefit the time-honored principle of Universalism. As my own guru has stated via powerful discourse, also contained within these pages: “The harmony of religions cannot be preached by any teacher who is exclusive, who is dualistic in frame of mind and in philosophy of life.” Therefore, with the advent of Advaita Vedanta in the West, mainly due to the work and presence of beings like Swami Vivekananda, it is time for the message of Universalism to be proposed, accepted, practiced, and realized on a wider scale so that true Peace will descend and enter the hearts and minds of living beings. Solace and Samadhi will be the welcome outcomes. Nectar of Nondual Truth leans decidedly towards a religious pluralism free of both the hypocritical sense of superiority and the problem of a complacent religious discernment. That is, equality based upon nonduality, combined with a tenacious scrutiny and inspection of all wisdom teachings, will ensure the vision and purity of the allimportant spiritual realm. Thus, the peoples of the world will forthwith be able to steer clear of the mistakes of the past springing from a lack of, distortion of, or misunderstanding of essential and eternal spiritual principles.

To know Religion is to know Truth, for that is its basis. And who knows the Truth? Those who have realized It through the unique and specific ways and means leading to It. The enlightened souls and the honest oral and written records they left behind should become the recourse of the wise seeker. Such a seeker hears the Truth contained within the nondual revealed scriptures, then gets the transmission of Truth directly from a realized soul, then practices intensely with dedication and perseverence to realize that Truth. This triple combination produces sages and seers. Reading a few books; giving a few talks; leading a few classes on relationships; fasting, dieting, breathing, and posturing the body; fascination with occult powers; indulging all the many modes of pretended spirituality; intellectual study devoid of any direct experience — when did any of these ever produce an authentic luminary?
