Overview of Hydrogen Related Laws and Regulations in Korea by Chungkeun Chae,Youngtaeg Hur,Duklim Jee,Cheongha Oh,Yonggyu Kim,Sungjun Bae,Gyoungmin Noh Pdf

This book mainly focuses on the hydrogen-related laws. Chapter 1 deals with the introduction of hydrogen, which is the basis for understanding hydrogen-related laws. The properties of hydrogen, hydrogen-related policies, hydrogen economy, hydrogen and environmental problems, hydrogen distribution, hydrogen safety, and hydrogen- related legal systems are outlined. Chapter 2 deals with the contents of the Hydrogen Act. For each legal provision, the contents of laws, enforcement decree, and enforcement rule are clearly organized in a single table. Chapter 3 deals with the High-pressure Gas Act. Basically, low-pressure hydrogen is regulated by the Hydrogen Act, and high-pressure hydrogen (liquefied gas is 0.2 MPa, compressed gas is 1MPa or above) is regulated by the High-pressure Gas Act. However, it is still challenging to accurately understand the regulations only with the sentences of the law, because of various exceptions. For example, the Hydrogen Act regulates hydrogen products even at high pressure, while the High-pressure Gas Act regulates hydrogen manufacturing facilities even at low pressure. Chapter 4 deals with the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Since hydrogen is an explosive gas with a high risk, it is subject to a considerable number of provisions in this Act. This chapter deals with provisions on safety and health education and measures to prevent harm and danger. Chapter 5 summarizes and explains the regulations for each subject of regulation for the convenience of the readers. This chapter summarizes and organizes the regulatory content that hydrogen manufacturers, chargers, storage and users, and hydrogen transporters should know. I

Fire Retardancy of Polymeric Materials, Second Edition by Charles A. Wilkie,Alexander B. Morgan Pdf

When dealing with challenges such as providing fire protection while considering cost, mechanical and thermal performance and simultaneously addressing increasing regulations that deal with composition of matter and life cycle issues, there are no quick, one-size-fits-all answers. Packed with comprehensive coverage, scientific approach, step-by-step directions, and a distillation of technical knowledge, the first edition of Fire Retardancy of Polymeric Materials broke new ground. It supplied a one-stop resource for the development of new fire safe materials. The editors have expanded the second edition to echo the multidisciplinary approach inherent in current flame retardancy technology and put it in a revised, more user-friendly format. More than just an update of previously covered topics, this edition discusses: additional fire retardant chemistry developments in regulations and standards new flame retardant approaches fire safety engineering modeling and fire growth phenomena The book introduces flame retardants polymer-by-polymer, supplemented by a brief overview of mode of action and interaction, and all the other ancillary issues involved in this applied field of materials science. The book delineates what, why, and how to do it, covering the fundamentals of polymer burning/combustion and how to apply these systems and chemistries to specific materials classes. It also provides suggested formulations, discusses why certain materials are preferred for particular uses or applications, and offers a starting point from which to develop fire-safe materials.

Safety in the Handling of Cryogenic Fluids by Frederick J. Edeskuty,Walter F. Stewart Pdf

The importance of safety in any scientific endeavor is never in question. However, when cryogenic temperatures are involved, safety is especially important. In addition to observing the normal precautions, one must also take into account the variations of physical properties that occur at low temperatures. At these tempera tures, some properties not only exhibit large differences from their normal values but also can vary widely over a small temperature range. Before any cryogenic project is started, a thorough knowledge of the possible hazards is necessary. Only in this way can the safest operation be attained. Over the hundred-year history of cryogenic research, this has been shown to be the case. Keeping this requirement in mind is an essential ingredient in the quest for accident-free work. The past four or five decades have seen a great expansion of cryogenic technology. Cryogenic liquids, such as oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and helium, have become commonly used in a number of different applications and are easily available in any part of the United States and, indeed, almost anywhere in the world. Not only are these liquids available, they have become less expensive and also available in ever larger quantities. As quantities increase, so also do the conse quences of mishaps. The future seems to hold promise of ever larger and more widespread use of the common cryogens. Thus, the importance of safety also increases as time progresses.
