NHS Pay Review Body twenty-sixth report 2012 by NHS Pay Review Body Pdf

The Review Body's remit for 2012/13 continues to be constrained by the UK Government's and Devolved Administrations' public pay sector policies. The remit is narrowed to consideration of pay recommendations for NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) staff earning £21,000 or less and any cases presented regarding high cost area supplements (HCAS) and recruitment and retention premia (RRP). An uplift of £250 is recommended for AfC staff earning £21,000 or less. The Body also comments on general workforce issues in the NHS.

Market-facing Pay by NHS Pay Review Body Pdf

This report considers how to make pay more market-facing in local areas for NHS Agenda for Change (AfC) staff and recommends market-facing pay to support recruitment and staff retention. The AfC system is perceived as fair and objective by all parties, supports stable industrial relations, and is viewed as compliant with equal pay principles. Analysis does not provide firm evidence for further investment in additional market -facing pay in the NHS at this time and further development of AfC is needed to meet the challenges and cost pressures in the NHS. AfC is considered the appropriate vehicle through which to develop market-facing pay as it already has positive features for it. The Review Body therefore specifically recommends a fundamental review of high cost area supplements, appropriate use of local recruitment and retention premia, and regular review of AfC, including its flexibilities, with any necessary negotiations brought to a conclusion at a reasonable pace

Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration fortieth report 2012 by Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration Pdf

In the June 2010 Budget, the government announced a two year public sector pay freeze from 2011-12 for public sector workforces earning in excess of £21,000 per annum on a full-time equivalent basis. Due to the pay freeze, the Review Body is not required to make recommendations on the remuneration of doctors and dentists, including independent contractor general medical practitioners (GMPs) and general dental practitioners (GDPs), in the United Kingdom for 2012-13, as all doctors and dentists have full-time equivalent earnings of more than £21,000 per annum. In the context of this revised remit, the Review Body has continued to monitor recruitment, retention, motivation and other relevant matters, and those topics form the bulk of this report.

Report of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry by Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry,Robert Francis Pdf

This public inquiry report into serious failings in healthcare that took place at the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust builds on the first independent report published in February 2010 (ISBN 9780102964394). It further examines the suffering of patients caused by failures by the Trust: there was a failure to listen to its patients and staff or ensure correction of deficiencies. There was also a failure to tackle the insidious negative culture involving poor standards and a disengagement from managerial and leadership responsibilities. These failures are in part a consequence of allowing a focus on reaching national access targets, achieving financial balance and seeking foundation trust status at the cost of delivering acceptable care standards. Further, the checks and balances that operate within the NHS system should have prevented the serious systemic failure that developed at Mid Staffs. The system failed in its primary duty to protect patients and maintain confidence in the healthcare system. This report identifies numerous warning signs that could and should have alerted the system to problems developing at the Trust. It also sets out 290 recommendations grouped around: (i) putting the patient first; (ii) developing a set of fundamental standards, easily understood and accepted by patients; (iii) providing professionally endorsed and evidence-based means of compliance of standards that are understood and adopted by staff; (iv) ensuring openness, transparency and candour throughout system; (v) policing of these standards by the healthcare regulator; (vi) making all those who provide care for patients , properly accountable; (vii) enhancing recruitment, education, training and support of all key contributors to the provision of healthcare; (viii) developing and sharing ever improving means of measuring and understanding the performance of individual professionals, teams, units and provider organisations for the patients, the public, and other stakeholders.

Safeguarding Adults and the Law by Michael Mandelstam Pdf

The protection of vulnerable adults is an increasingly important issue right across health and social care. Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and the Law, now in its second edition, sets this complex area of work within a comprehensive legal framework and provides extensive guidance for practitioners and students. The book covers Department of Health guidelines, human rights, the regulation of health and social care providers, the barring of carers from working with vulnerable adults, care standards tribunal cases, mental capacity, undue influence, assault, battery, willful neglect, ill treatment, manslaughter, murder, theft, fraud, sexual offences, data protection and the sharing of information. It focuses on how these areas of law apply to vulnerable adults, and brings together an extensive body of case law to illustrate this. Also covered is how local authorities and the NHS may themselves be implicated in the harm - through abuse, neglect or omission - suffered by vulnerable adults. This fully-updated second edition comprehensively reflects recent changes to the law, and includes many new case studies. This book will be an invaluable resource for all those working in community care, adult social work, health care and housing. Those working for local authorities, the NHS, voluntary organizations and students will find it to be essential reading.

Review of Compensation Levels, Incentives and the Clinical Excellence and Distinction Award Schemes for NHS Consultants by Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration Pdf

The Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration is an independent body that makes recommendations to the Prime Minister, the Secretary of State for Health, and the appropriate Ministers and departments in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in respect of pay. The Review takes in account the following considerations: (i) The need to recruit, retain and motivate doctors and dentists; (ii) Regional/local variations in labour markets; (iii) The funds available to the Health Departments; (iv) The overall strategy of the NHS in respect of patient care. The consultant body is comprised of the most senior medical and dental staff in the NHS, who have expert knowledge in their specialities. The Review Body concludes that the overall compensation for consultants is appropriate, but has some reservations about existing schemes and believes that awards should not be a substitute for pay progression. The Review Body outlines a proposed integrated package and career structure for consultants.
