Only Jesus of Nazareth Can Be the God of Israel's Righteous Servant by John P. McTernan Pdf

Using his skills developed as a federal investigator, plus spending thousands of hours debating both Judaism's counter-missionaries and Muslims, the author creates an airtight case that only Jesus of Nazareth can be Israel's King Messiah. All the thoughts of this book were developed through the fires of debate. The heart of this book is Isaiah 53 and Isaiah 9: 6,7. Rather than just examining Isaiah 53 separately, it is examined in the context of Isaiah's Four Servant Songs. This unique approach provides the reader with overwhelming scriptural evidence that Jesus of Nazareth is the God of Israel's Righteous Servant. Isaiah 9: 6,7 is also looked at in its context: the Day of the LORD, which is yet future. These two verses are prophetic being fulfilled at the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Isaiah 9: 6,7 is the national confession of Israel - that the Lord Jesus is their King Messiah. This book gives the reader overwhelming evidence to both defend and proclaim the faith. It provides wonderful material for Sunday school and sermons along with being a great witnessing tool. John McTernan is a lifetime student of the Bible, especially prophecy relating to the nation of Israel and the first and second coming of the Lord Jesus. He authored the acclaimed God's Final Warning to America and the best seller As America Has Done To Israel. During numerous appearances on television, radio, and in seminars he has defended Israel in light of Biblical prophecy. In 1974, John became involved with the Pro-Life Movement and is a Pro-Life leader in central Pennsylvania. He co-founded International Cops for Christ where he serves as an ordained chaplain. John was a US Treasury agent for 26 years until retiring in1998. He holds a B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is married and the father of four children.

Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews by Paula Fredriksen Pdf

Paula Fredriksen, renowned historian and author of From Christ to Jesus, begins this inquiry into the historic Jesus with a fact that may be the only undisputed thing we know about him: his crucifixion. Rome reserved this means of execution particularly for political insurrectionists; and the Roman charge posted at the head of the cross indicted Jesus for claiming to be King of the Jews. To reconstruct the Jesus who provoked this punishment, Fredriksen takes us into the religious worlds, Jewish and pagan, of Mediterranean antiquity, through the labyrinth of Galilean and Judean politics, and on into the ancient narratives of Paul's letters, the gospels, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and Josephus' histories. The result is a profound contribution both to our understanding of the social and religious contexts within which Jesus of Nazareth moved, and to our appreciation of the mission and message that ended in the proclamation of Jesus as Messiah.

Jesus Christ's Competitors by Charles River Charles River Editors Pdf

*Includes pictures *Includes ancient accounts *Includes online resources and a bibliography for further reading In the 1st century CE there lived a man named Jesus in Judea, a Roman province at the time. The humble peasant was considered by some to be a prophet, others saw him as a madman, and some considered him as a threat to the safety of the land. In his last days he preached in Jerusalem about the imminent destruction of the Holy City and its temple. He gained notoriety and his warning had an eerie feel about it. His prophecy included parabolic language. Jesus spoke, according to sources, about the wind that carried signs, possibly echoing the words of the prophet Isaiah, and enigmatic parables about the wedding groom and his bride. Some people found his words offensive, and had him arrested and flogged. Unsure what to do with him, the temple authorities handed him over to the Roman procurator. When Jesus was before him, Rome's governor questioned him and asked him what was all that he was prophesying about, but the prisoner did not utter a single word. The procurator had him whipped again, but Jesus did not complain or shed a tear. He did not curse the guards who made fun of him and beat his crushed body. Jesus lamented once again for the fate of the people of Jerusalem, and it was there, not far from the temple, that he was killed by a catapult. There are no other details about Jesus, the son of Ananias, or Jesus ben Ananias, who died near the temple of Jerusalem in 70 AD when a stone thrown by a Roman ballista hit him in the head, except that his last words were "Woe to me!." This doomed prophet was active four decades after a much more famous predecessor, Jesus of Nazareth, who was not knocked down by a stone near the temple but crucified outside the city around 30 AD. It's even possible that both individuals once crossed paths when the son of Ananias was a boy and the Nazarene was already an influential prophet. Maybe the latter was inspired by the Galilean. Historians will likely never know for sure because his disciples, if he had any, did not preserve his words or remember his deeds. Indeed, this Jesus may have been forgotten altogether if not for the Jewish historian Flavius Josephus recounting his strange story The Jewish Wars, written five years after the event. The former anecdote is, above all, great evidence that Jesus of Nazareth, the Christian messiah, was not the only charismatic prophet in Judea, not even in his native Galilee, which was populated by prophets and rebels. Jesus of Nazareth was not the only Jew of his time to be considered a son of God with power to perform miracles, and he was certainly not the only one to be called the messiah during the years of Roman occupation. Like him, other Galileans were executed by the imperial forces under charges of sedition ("This is the king of the Jews"). Indeed, the founder of Christianity lived in a province and a time where others like him blossomed, spiritual men who claimed to carry a divine message or mission from the heavenly Father for the redemption of his children, Israel. For the most part forgotten, they were "the other" prophets, miracle workers and messiahs - in some cases acclaimed as kings - and they were certainly contemporaries of Jesus of Nazareth. The New Testament does not deny the existence of such characters; in fact, it gives subtle but unequivocal clues to their presence. Like Jesus, other prophets, miracle-makers and aspiring messiahs were active in Judea under Herod and his sons, and then under Rome ́s prefects, like Pilate. They felt that the authority of the Highest was with them; they proclaimed that there was no other king but God, and they promised their followers they would see miraculous signs and God's deliverance if they only resisted just a little longer.

Jesus: Is He the Messiah of Israel? by Magnus N. Keehus Pdf

Jesus: Is He Israel's Messiah? Indeed he is! This book seeks to give evidence for Jesus being the Messiah of Israel and the world by drawing on various sources ranging from certain ideas observed in the Dead Sea Scrolls produced by the Qumran community, including illuminating certain writings concerning Messiah generated by ancient rabbis. The author also seeks to establish many prophecies fulfilled by Christ as spoken of in the Tanakh (Old Testament) and gives a strong case for miracles and the resurrection of Jesus. An exposition of selected parables taught by Jesus at the end of this book will reveal that the very claims he made about himself came from no other than Messiah-authenticated by his own ministry of miracles, fulfilled prophesy, performing resurrections including his own literal and physical rising from the dead.

The Wrong Messiah by Nick Page Pdf

He came from the wrong social class, the wrong place and the wrong profession. He ate with the wrong people, championed the wrong causes and attracted the wrong kind of supporters. He even spoke with the wrong accent. In fact everything about Jesus of Nazareth was wrong. How could this odd-job man be God's Messiah? To the authorities he was a dangerous rebel; to the pious he was scandalously unorthodox. Even his family thought he was mad. But somehow this builder from 'up north' - this outrageous, unorthodox, rebellious teacher and miracle worker - changed the world. In this illuminating new biography, Nick Page strips away centuries of misrepresentation and myth to reveal the real personality portrayed in the gospels. Drawing on a wealth of historical and archaeological research, the result is a startling and vivid new portrait of Yeshua ben Yosef - Jesus of Nazareth. Challenging and thought-provoking, THE WRONG MESSIAH will change the way you view Jesus: the man who in so many ways seemed utterly wrong, but who history has proved triumphantly to be right.

Jesus Christ: The Real Story by United Church of God Pdf

The story of Jesus Christ goes much deeper than His crucifixion and resurrection. Few will dispute that a man named Jesus Christ lived 2,000 years ago and that He was a great teacher who impacted the world. Christ made a controversial claim—that He was the very Son of God, the long-prophesied Messiah—causing religious authorities in Jerusalem to reject Him, hate Him and eventually succeeded in having Him put to death. Likewise, the local Roman civil authorities also saw Him as a threat and became complicit in His execution. The religions of His day, both Judaism and paganism, opposed the growth of His teachings and used unlawful and violent means to try to destroy the Church He founded. The government of Rome also came to vigorously persecute the followers of this Jewish teacher from Galilee. Today, there is much confusion and questions concerning this controversial figure. Where can you go for the answers? The Bible. This Bible Study aid booklet, "Jesus Christ: The Real Story" will help explain what is written in the Bible about Jesus Christ. Inside this Bible Study Aid ebook: "Perhaps the boldest claim Jesus made about His identity was the statement, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM” (John:8:58)...What was going on here? Jesus was revealing His identity as the actual One whom the Jews knew as God in the Old Testament." "The New Testament writers cite messianic prophecies from the Old Testament more than 130 times. By some estimates the Old Testament contains 300 prophetic passages that describe who the Messiah is and what He will do. Of these, 60 are major prophecies. What are the chances of these prophecies being fulfilled in one person?" "A careful analysis of Scripture, however, clearly indicates that December 25 is an unlikely date for Christ’s birth. Here are two primary reasons..." "How can we fit “three days and three nights” between a Friday-afternoon crucifixion and a Sunday-morning resurrection?"

Jesus the Messiah, Biography of the Word by John R. Mitchell Pdf

PREMISE One worships God by recognizing that we cannot recognize God. We can only recognize what He does for us. We can recognize how He exists in the beauty of our world, how He opens our hearts with love for our fellow man, how He opens our minds to learn of Him and by His power we find meaning in our devotion to His will and purpose. ENDORSEMENT "As a professional educator in the field of religious studies, I have spent my life, both as a teacher and as a student, reading books about the Bible and the history of Christianity. I have already read a plethora of books about the historical Jesus and his life. The search for the historical Jesus has been a task taken up by many scholars during the last two thousand years and there is no sign that interest in this particular area of Biblical research is likely to wane anytime soon. The difficulty I have found is that professional Biblical scholars and theologians usually, consciously or unconsciously, have an agenda that they wish to promote. These items of agenda are fairly transparent and are easily recognizable. One can often guess the conclusions of their research long before reaching the end of the book. More often than not, these texts are really only revisions of similar books written not all that long ago. "It was with more than a fair amount of skepticism that I agreed to read John Mitchell ́s manuscript, "Jesus the Messiah, Biography of the Word". I had only recently become acquainted with John when he informed me that he had been working on a book about the life of Jesus. Expecting little more than an amateur exegete ́s attempt to employ some kind of simplistic critical approach to the character of Jesus as found in the New Testament, I was overwhelmed by the expertise demonstrated by his writing. A layman, with a background in mathematics and engineering, John ́s approach to the task of describing the life of Jesus is as refreshing as it is comprehensive. I was challenged by his attention to detail and his exhaustive search for an accurate account of Jesus ́ life and ministry. His precision humbled this professional scholar and college professor. I could not help but remember that God ́s greatest revelation did not come as a priest, or scribe, but as a carpenter ́s son from Galilee. Similarly, the first accounts of Jesus ́ life came not from the established clergy, but from the laity. It is, therefore, well worth while, whether you are a professional scholar or just a curious Christian, to read my friend, John R. Mitchell ́s, "Jesus the Messiah, Biography of the Word."" --Jon Carlock, Professor of Religion and Philosophy, Bethel College, McKenzie, Tennessee SUMMATION POINTS “Jesus the Messiah, Biography of the Word” is a simple, straightforward adaptation and correlation of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and other referencing material for research. An examination of the first three, known as the Synoptic Gospels, agrees mostly to content and order but follow a generalized chronology. The chronology for events in the creation of the “Biography” has been rendered to be a smooth flow between gospels. Events have been added or expanded to provide the detail that must surely have taken place over the span of Jesus’ life. The “Gospel of John” seems to have been written independently of the other three although John as an eyewitness filled in the details that were needed for several events. Mark was not known to be a follower of Jesus during his ministry. And of course Luke never saw Jesus as he was a physician in a distant city and who became a follower of Paul. Paul, of course, was not a disciple of Jesus and it is not known if he ever saw Jesus. As Jesus ́ life and ministry of events were in a chronological order, the “Biography” brings together the four gospels into one cohesive and suggested chronology of events. Some events have

The Story of the Messiah by Wayne L. Ney Pdf

The Story of the Messiah exposes a host of Jewish customs, attitudes, political sects, and institutions during the time of Christ and chronicles the events of His life in Hebrew fashion while harmonizing the accounts of the four Gospel writers. Surely the setting, characters, and plot of this two-thousand-year-old narrative are not unfamiliar, but while snippets of Jesus’ life have warmed the hearts of countless readers and listeners, a complete story of our beloved Savior is rarely gleaned. To remedy this vacuum, the author has embellished a chronicle of the life of Jesus by: • shining a light on first-century Judaism • providing historical and factual information pertaining to the Jews in a Greco-Roman world • including numerous tidbits—both credible and incredible—that were pertinent to the various characters and episodes • highlighting solutions to the apparent discrepancies proffered by the original authors Beginning with God’s covenant with Abraham and a brief history of Israel, this rendition of Jesus’ story gathers truth from the prophets of the old standard as well as meaning from Paul and other writers of the New Testament. The final curtain closes on the Day of Pentecost, when God fulfilled His promise of the Holy Spirit.
