Compared to adults, children and adolescents suffer from different diseases and require different treatments. The same is true where imaging is concerned. The diagnostic strategies are different. The care prior to, during, and following the examination also differs from that of adults. This CME accredited Manual provides a comprehensive overview on the field of paediatric radiology and suggests imaging strategies for the most common clinical indications in children and adolescents.

Diagnostic Paediatric Imaging by Christine M. Hall,Sundara Lingam Pdf

The last decade has seen a rapid expansion in the range and sophistication of diagnostic imaging modalities which are available to clinicians. Our objective has been to produce a manual on paediatric radiology which will prove of value to those clinicians and radiologists in training who are preparing for the Fellowship, Membership and Diploma examinations of various colleges. This teaching manual presents radiographs and examples of other imaging modalities from 100 paediatric patients. The material was taken from a radiological teaching collection obtained from patients at The Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, over a lO-year period by one of the authors (C.M.H.). With each case a short clinical history is given and a series of questions posed, similar to those encountered in various postgraduate medical examinations. Sample answers with com ments and more illustrations are presented on the following page. It has been impossible to achieve comprehensive coverage of the subject in a book of this size, but we have tried to select examples of those cases which illustrate the range of imaging modalities currently available and which may be encountered both in clinical practice and in examinations. We acknowledge with gratitude the kind assistance of Miss Sugarhood in the preparation of the manuscript.

Who Manual of Diagnostic Imaging by World Health Organization Pdf

This book, a further volume in the ongoing series WHO Manuals of Diagnostic Imaging, is intended to help radiologists and clinicians who do not have access to expert opinion undertake their own interpretation of radiological images. The focus is on plain X-ray films and ultrasound, the most widely used imaging techniques, rather than on more sophisticated methods such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. It provides an exhaustive description of radiographic normal anatomy as well as the most common pathological changes that are specific to infants and young children, including trauma, tumors and congenital and developmental disorders. With its many high-quality radiographs, this manual is essential reading for general practitioners, medical specialists, radiographers and radiologists, particularly those who work in small and mid-size hospitals.

Paediatric Radiography by Maryann Hardy,Stephen Boynes Pdf

Radiography is an integral part of paediatric health care. It is frequently requested to assist in the diagnosis, management and treatment of childhood disease and illness. Accurate interpretation of paediatric radiographs can depend entirely on the quality of images produced by the radiographer, yet there are few books available on this crucial aspect of radiographic practice. Paediatric Radiography fills a gap. It explores radiographic practice within the context of the modern health service and focuses on how our knowledge and understanding of paediatric growth, development and illness can inform and influence radiographic procedures. It includes detailed coverage of specific paediatric techniques and good practice models, including the role of multi-modality imaging, and looks specifically at radiation protection, the chest and upper airways, the abdomen, neonatal radiography, trauma, orthopaedics, and non-accidental injury.
