Paper Kisses by N.J. Lysk Pdf
An alpha werewolf. A human. A whole week of St. Valentine's celebrations. Abel's life hasn't gone according to plan. When he was just out of school, he found an omega he loved and they had a child together. Only Tristan just got mated to someone else. He is determined to enjoy more time with their daughter and be happy for his ex, but he still has too much time in his hands so when Eve's school organizes a whole week of St. Valentine's celebrations, he confronts the teacher in charge. If there's one thing Deryn knew he wanted, it was teaching, but the actual work requires long hours and a lot of thinking on his feet. Plus, in his small Welsh hometown, there isn't much socializing for a gay man that doesn't want a quickly forgotten anonymous encounter. Meeting the man of his dreams in his very classroom seems too lucky to be true, so of course it turns out Abel is the parent of one of his students.

The Young Cook by American Antiquarian Cookbook Collection Pdf
Although the author of this collection is anonymous, her intention was clearly stated on the title page of the book—a thousand practical ways to make good cakes, pies, puddings, and more for the young, inexperienced cook. True to her word, the cookbook is extremely thorough, covering not only the following categories, but including dozens and dozens of recipes for all types of baked goods: cakes, pastry, buns, biscuits, custards, ice cream and ices, tarts, crumpets, puddings, muffins, candy, breads, and more. The back of the book contains advertisements from local merchants for dancing instruction, telegraph service, joke books, and a book titled The Little Flirt, with secrets of handkerchief, glove, fan, and parasol flirtations—a fascinating window on lifestyles of the day. This edition of The Young Cook was reproduced by permission from the volume in the collection of the American Antiquarian Society, Worcester, Massachusetts. Founded in 1812 by Isaiah Thomas, a Revolutionary War patriot and successful printer and publisher, the Society is a research library documenting the life of Americans from the colonial era through 1876. The Society collects, preserves, and makes available as complete a record as possible of the printed materials from the early American experience. The cookbook collection includes approximately 1,100 volumes.

Kafka's Travels by J. Zilcosky Pdf
In 1916, Kafka writes of The Sugar Baron , a dime-store colonial adventure novel, '[it] affects me so deeply that I feel it is about myself, or as if it were the book of rules for my life.' John Zilcosky reveals that this perhaps surprising statement - made by the Prague-bound poet of modern isolation - is part of a network of remarks that exemplify Kafka's ongoing preoccupation with popular travel writing, exoticism, and colonial fantasy. Taking this biographical peculiarity as a starting point, Kafka's Travels elegantly re-reads Kafka's major works ( Amerika , The Trial , The Castle ) through the lens of fin-de siecle travel culture. Making use of previously unexplored literary and cultural materials - travel diaries, train schedules, tour guides, adventure novels - Zilcosky argues that Kafka's uniquely modern metaphorics of alienation emerges out of the author's complex encounter with the utopian travel discourses of his day.

Tree of Life by A.M. Leibowitz Pdf
Luke works a job he hates and shares a dirty, small apartment with his roommate, barely making ends meet and envying the successes of his friends. When they all return for a wedding, Luke comes face to face with one of the people he left behind when he took off. Instead of the bitterness Luke expects, Connor invites him on a forty-day, cross-country trip. They travel the length of route I-90, following the last journey Connor’s father made from Boston to Seattle, recorded in a nearly incoherent memoir. The two of them meet hitchhikers, stowaways, and a collage of people all willing to help uncover the secrets of who Connor’s father was. Along the way, Luke’s hidden past catches up with him when it collides with Connor’s present. With the help of friends and strangers, both of them must learn what home and family mean before Luke runs away again.

Prairie Gold by Various Authors Pdf
THERE stands recorded in the Book of Time a fascinating legend of the Sun, whose golden throne allured but for the day; and when the day was ended in great glee he hurried forth beyond the broad horizon toward a secret trysting place. All his impassioned love, it is said, he poured upon the idol of his heart, the boundless plains. Long years were they alone, the Rolling Prairie and the Golden Sun, until at last they found themselves spied upon by curious Man, who, captivated by the beauty of the two, remained and blessed the tryst thereby. Here Sun and Soil and Man wrought out a work of art; and here Dame Nature smiled as was her wont, and brought rich gifts and blessings manifold. In sweet content Man's children toiled and wrought until upon the bosom of the sunlit plains there nestled close great fields and prosperous abodes. And since that time a ceaseless music steals throughout the land in wooing cadences, now crying out in weird and wandering tones, now softly soothing in sweet rhythmic chant. 'Tis the music of the wind within the corn—Iowa's Prairie Gold. It sang itself into the lonely heart of the pioneer with its promise of golden harvest; it became the cradle song of restless souls that even in their youth longed but to free themselves in verse and song; and down through all the prosperous years it steals like a sweet sustaining accompaniment to the countless activities which have builded a great commonwealth. He who has stood upon the hilltops in his youthful days and listened to the soft, alluring rustle of the wind-swayed leaves retains the music ever in his soul. It draws upon the heart-strings of the absent one, and like the constant singing of the sea insistent calls upon him to return. Today in spirit come we all to Time's sweet trysting place with story song and jest, to add sweet comfort to the braver ones whose paths lie wide before them, and whose return lies not within our willing. God grant that even in their pains their troubled souls may yet to music be attuned, may know again the solace of that sweetly floating song, the rustle of the wind within the corn.
