Philosophy of Osteopathy (Classic Reprint) by A. T. Still Pdf

Considered a groundbreaking medical discovery at the time Osteopathy is still a respected profession and is on the border between conventional and complementary medicine. In this book the founder of Osteopathy, Andrew Taylor Still, lays out the philosophies behind the art. Ahead of his time in such areas as belief in preventative care and disgust at the occasionally horrific side effects of the then-practices of conventional medicine AT Still decided (as in other areas of his life) to improve things rather than complain. Still was an interesting individual, prone to inventing his way around problems. He was also a doctor, author, surgeon, lawmaker and founder of a university. Philosophy of Osteopathy by Andrew T. Still Pdf

Andrew T. Still's thorough account of osteopathic medicine details the discoveries and cases which contributed to the development of osteopathy. Written and published at the end of the nineteenth century, Philosophy of Osteopathy is a manual which attempts to overview the major aspects of the osteopathic discipline. Although much of Still's understanding is outdated in comparison to modern medicine, his accessible descriptions made this book a valuable reference text for aspiring osteopaths and physiotherapists for many years following its original publication. Chapters generally concern distinct areas of the body, as well as some theoretical questions which - at the time - hadn't received an answer. Andrew T. Still regards good osteopathy as an art form, and thus does not shy away from a passionate tone during parts of the text. Unusual subjects, such as the uses of earwax and the possibility that man has undergone a slow decline in his bodily resilience, lend color to the book.

Principles of Osteopathy (Classic Reprint) by Charles Hazzard Pdf

Excerpt from Principles of Osteopathy Owing to the largely increasing interest in the science of Osteopathy, its great success as a healing art, the opening of many schools for the teaching of the science, and the flocking to these schools of scores and hundreds of young men and women, the two previous editions of this book - Principles of Osteopathy - have been quickly exhausted. Repeated orders for the book reaching the author have made this third edition imperative at this time. The revision of these lectures has been thorough; the lectures on the History of Medicine have been omitted, as not being considered germain to the subject, and an appendix containing observations and facts of interest and value to the profession has been added. Philosophy of Osteopathy by Andrew Taylor Pdf

Philosophy of Osteopathy by A. T. (Andrew Taylor) Still NOT A WORK OF COMPILATION. To readers of my book on the Philosophy of Osteopathy, I wish to say that I will not tire you with a book of compilations just to sell to the anxious reader. As I have spent thirty years of my life reading and following rules and remedies used for curing, and learned in sorrow it was useless to listen to their claims, for instead of getting good, I obtained much harm therefrom, I asked for, and obtained a mental divorce from them, and I want it to be understood that drugs and I are as far apart as the East is from the West; now, and forever. Henceforth I will follow the dictates of nature in all I say or write. AUTHORS QUOTED. I quote no authors but God and experience when I write, or lecture to the classes or the masses, because no book written by medical writers can be of much use to us, and it would be very foolish to look to them for advice and instruction on a science they know nothing of. They are illy able to advise for themselves, they have never been asked to advise us, and I am free to say but few persons who have been pupils of my school have tried to get wisdom from medical writers and apply it as worthy to be taught as any part of Osteopathy, philosophy or practice. Several books have been compiled, called "Principles of Osteopathy." They may sell but will fail to give the knowledge the student desires. We are delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive Classic Library collection. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. The aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature, and our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. The contents of the vast majority of titles in the Classic Library have been scanned from the original works. To ensure a high quality product, each title has been meticulously hand curated by our staff. Our philosophy has been guided by a desire to provide the reader with a book that is as close as possible to ownership of the original work. We hope that you will enjoy this wonderful classic work, and that for you it becomes an enriching experience.

Osteopathy Illustrated by A. P. Davis Pdf

Excerpt from Osteopathy Illustrated: A Drugless System of Healing It is not the design of this work to embrace all other sciences and specialties, in order to make a Show of wisdom our sole object being to present the reasons for the application of this science, and to demonstrate its place among other means of healing. If the reader will carefully survey the premises, investigate the philosophy and note the results, a just estimate of the value of the science may be placed on it, and its proper place assigned for it. Unobstructed circulation of fluids to and from the heart, in all parts of the body, and uniting the forces and removing the pressure, constitute the basic principles of this philosophy, and the means of promoting these ends is the only object of this book.
