As we sit and talk, Hart [therapy dog] sits close to her chair. At one point in our session, Sarah's reserve finally crumbles. Pushing up her left sleeve, she shows me her scars. As she lowers her arm, Sarah notices that Hart's eyes are fixed on that arm. At that moment, Hart lifts her gaze from the arm and connects with Sarah's eyes. Hart then looks over at me. With an expression on her face that I can only call puzzled, Hart looks back at Sarah, and then Hart lowers her head and begins to lick the scars. Sarah is startled for a moment but then sits quietly as Hart continues to lick the wounds. Finally, she bends over hart and holds her close.
A forgotten dragon and a magical girl set out to find Vienna’s missing dragons in this YA fantasy novel: “Extraordinary—not to be missed” (Kirkus Reviews, starred review). Grisha is a dragon in a world that’s forgotten how to see him. Maggie is an unusual child who thinks she’s perfectly ordinary. They’re an unlikely duo—but magic, like friendship, is funny. And it has chosen Grisha and Maggie to solve the darkest mystery in Vienna. Decades ago, when World War II broke out, someone decided that there were too many dragons for all of them to be free. As they investigate, Grisha and Maggie ask the questions everyone’s forgotten to ask: Where have the missing dragons gone? And is there a way to save them? At once richly magical and tragically historical, The Language of Spells is a novel full of adventure about remembering old stories, forging new ones, and the transformative power of friendship.
PJ the Leprechaun evolved from my love and respect for Saint Patrick. After attending fifty years of Holyoke's famous Saint Patrick's parades and witnessing many cultures celebrating March 17 throughout the world, I realized that only a select few know the divine significance of Saint Patrick's Day. Hence, PJ the Leprechaun. Through the eyes of a mischievous leprechaun, the reader will learn many facts of Patrick's life. PJ the Leprechaun will teach the reader the importance of following God's will, and he will share the journey of how Patrick overcame slavery by the grace of God. How Patrick became a saint and the divine significance of March 17 will be unveiled by the end of this fun, adventurous fictional story. Saint Patrick's Day will truly be celebrated in a Christian way. May PJ the Leprechaun guide us all along the way.
