Planetary Powers by Patti Tobin Brittain Pdf

Planetary Powers is a comprehensive book on the Morin Method of Horoscope Interpretation. It begins with examples of the fundamental principles and steadily advances to the full techniques. Each principle and technique is illustrated with examples. Each of the book's sections focuses on a specific factor of horoscope interpretation. The Morin Method is a practical and useful set of rules that results in accurate chart interpretation. Familiarity with the Astrologia Gallica, the works of John-Baptiste Morin, although desirable, is unnecessary in order to use the Morin Method of Horoscope Interpretation. Section I covers planetary powers, including theory of determinations, houses, signs, planets, essential dignities and debilities, natural and acquired analogy, and analogy of the planets with the houses. Section II explains the cosmic state of the planets in relationship with the houses. Topics covered are benefic and malefic planets, dispositors, peregrine planets, determination through house position and rulership, cause and effect, conjunctions, and determining combination by analogy. Section III discusses the Morin Method regarding determination by actual location, empty house judgment, affairs signified by the houses, determination and evaluation of the effect of a planet in a house, the houses of life and death, and the power of aspects. The book concludes with numerous charts for study. "To my knowledge this book is the best available instruction manual for the Morin Method."-James Herschel Holden, translator of eleven books of the Astrologia Gallica series by John-Baptiste Morin

Zodiacal Symbology and Its Planetary Power by Isidore Kozminsky Pdf

After some years of careful study in the endeavour to fix the special planetary influence attached to each degree of the Zodiac, author Isidore Kozminsky is at length enabled to present the result of his researches in this direction for the consideration of the many sincere students who find in astrology a safe and sure foundation upon which to build the temple of world enlightenment, which the approaching true civilization will demand. From a close examination of thousands of nativities during the past, Kozminsky believes that the planets which will be found associated with the zodiacal degrees in this book are correct and important in every particular. He further believes this is the first attempt in this direction, and is certain that the reader will find it helpful in dealing with the many problems with which he or she has to grapple.

The Planetary Clock by Paul Giles Pdf

The theme of The Planetary Clock is the representation of time in postmodern culture and the way temporality as a global phenomenon manifests itself differently across an antipodean axis. To trace postmodernism in an expansive spatial and temporal arc, from its formal experimentation in the 1960s to environmental concerns in the twenty-first century, is to describe a richer and more complex version of this cultural phenomenon. Exploring different scales of time from a Southern Hemisphere perspective, with a special emphasis on issues of Indigeneity and the Anthropocene, The Planetary Clock offers a wide-ranging, revisionist account of postmodernism, reinterpreting literature, film, music, and visual art of the post-1960 period within a planetary framework. By bringing the culture of Australia and New Zealand into dialogue with other Western narratives, it suggests how an antipodean impulse, involving the transposition of the world into different spatial and temporal dimensions, has long been an integral (if generally occluded) aspect of postmodernism. Taking its title from a Florentine clock designed in 1510 to measure worldly time alongside the rotation of the planets, The Planetary Clock ranges across well-known American postmodernists (John Barth, Toni Morrison) to more recent science fiction writers (Octavia Butler, Richard Powers), while bringing the US tradition into juxtaposition with both its English (Philip Larkin, Ian McEwan) and Australian (Les Murray, Alexis Wright) counterparts. By aligning cultural postmodernism with music (Messiaen, Ligeti, Birtwistle), the visual arts (Hockney, Blackman, Fiona Hall), and cinema (Rohmer, Haneke, Tarantino), this volume enlarges our understanding of global postmodernism for the twenty-first century.

Postcolonial Astrology by Alice Sparkly Kat Pdf

Tapping into the political power of magic and astrology for social, community, and personal transformation. In a cross-cultural approach to understanding astrology as a magical language, Alice Sparkly Kat unmasks the political power of astrology, showing how it can be channeled as a force for collective healing and liberation. Too often, magic and astrology are divorced from their potency and cultural contexts: co-opted by neoliberalism, used as a force of oppression, or distilled beyond recognition into applications that belie their individual and collective power. By looking at the symbolic and etymological histories of the sun, moon, Saturn, Venus, Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter, we can trace and understand the politics of magic--and challenge our own practices, interrogate our truths, and reshape our institutions to build better frameworks for communities of care. Fearless, radical, and fresh, Sparkly Kat's Postcolonial Astrology ushers in a new wave of astrology revival, refusing to apologize for its magickism and connecting its power to the spirituality and politics we need now. Intersectional, inclusive, and geared towards queer and POC communities, it uses our historical and collective constructs of the planets, sun, and moon to re-chart our subconscious history, redefine the body in the world, and assert our politics of the personal, in astrology and all things.

Your Hidden Powers by Joanne Wickenburg Pdf

Both retrograde planets and intercepted signs are included in this well-written, in-depth volume. Joanne defines how they differ and what they indicate in the chart. She also introduces new ideas about retrograde planets and intercepted signs, offering fresh insights for interpretation in these sometimes overlooked areas. Retrograde planets and intercepted signs make the chart unique, and each describes the powers and potentials waiting to be unleashed in your life. In some way you will stand apart from the crowd with an exceptional life that is outside the norm and as unique to you as your birth chart. Not everyone is born with such an outstanding opportunity to realize their individual potential. Included is extensive delineation of intercepted signs in the houses, the six sign polarities, the elements, duplicated signs, phases and planetary pairs. Chapters are also devoted to relocation charts, transits in intercepted signs, the importance of environment vs. destiny and various house systems. In addition to a thorough explanation of how planets retrograde, Joanne gives detailed interpretation of the meaning of retrograde planets in the natal chart and their position in the context of the eight stages of cyclic unfoldment, six of which fall into the retrograde zone. This placement specifically defines how a retrograde planet operates in your life. Also thoroughly explained is the meaning of retrograde planets in their transit cycle, and the significance of a retrograde progressed planet.

The Atlas of AI by Kate Crawford Pdf

The hidden costs of artificial intelligence, from natural resources and labor to privacy and freedom What happens when artificial intelligence saturates political life and depletes the planet? How is AI shaping our understanding of ourselves and our societies? In this book Kate Crawford reveals how this planetary network is fueling a shift toward undemocratic governance and increased inequality. Drawing on more than a decade of research, award-winning science, and technology, Crawford reveals how AI is a technology of extraction: from the energy and minerals needed to build and sustain its infrastructure, to the exploited workers behind "automated" services, to the data AI collects from us. Rather than taking a narrow focus on code and algorithms, Crawford offers us a political and a material perspective on what it takes to make artificial intelligence and where it goes wrong. While technical systems present a veneer of objectivity, they are always systems of power. This is an urgent account of what is at stake as technology companies use artificial intelligence to reshape the world.

The Stability of Planetary Systems by R.L. Duncombe,Rudolf Dvorak,P.J. Message Pdf

The Alexander von Humboldt Colloquium on Celestial Mechanics (sub titled "The Stability of Planetary Systems") was held in Ramsau, Styria, in the Austrian Alps, from March the 25th to the 31st, 1984. The dedication of the meeting to Alexander von Humboldt presented partici pants with the challenge that the discussions during the week should reflect the spirit of that great scientist of the last century, that the very many interesting ideas presented and developed during the sessions should be interpreted in the light of a broad v~ew of astron omy and astrophysics. The topics of the meeting ranged from astrometric questions relating to the specification of inertial reference systems, motion of planets (including minor planets) and satellites, with the recurring topic of the search for criteria of stability of the systems, resonances, periodic orbits, and to the origin of the systems. Each session began with one or more invited review papers, followed by offered contributions and discussion. Three evening discussions were held, devoted respectively to inertial systems, to numerical integration techniques, and to cosmogonic problems and ring systems. On the evening of Wednesday, March 28th, a recital of chamber mus~c was given by Bernhard Piberauer, on the violin, and Meinhard Prinz, on the piano.
