Polymers as Aids in Organic Chemistry by N.K Mather Pdf

Polymers as Aids in Organic Chemistry covers the broad classifications and application of polymers in organic chemistry. This book is organized into 15 chapters that focus on the transformation of polymers and their role in other reagents that must be easily separated from their final product. After a brief introduction to polymer chemistry, the book presents a tabulation of the various types of polymers that have been used and the methods for their characterization. It then discusses the use of polymers as supports in peptide, oligonucleotide, and oligosaccharide chemistry; in peptide sequencing; in monofunctionalized difunctional compounds preparation, as aids in asymmetric syntheses; and as trapping agents in the determination of reaction intermediates. The subsequent chapters describe the use of polymers as catalysts, with particular emphasis on transition metals immobilized in the polymer matrix and used as catalysts. The concluding chapters examine polymer-immobilized compounds, enzymes, and whole cells that have been used to carry out a large number of reaction, most of which impinge on the area of organic chemistry. Polymer scientists and researchers and organic chemists will find this book invaluable.

Polymer Supported Chemical Reactions by P. Hodge Pdf

Polymer supported chemical reactions may include those using supported substrates, reagents and catalysts, and this report describes all three types. In all cases the most frequent reason for the use of a polymeric support will be the ease of separation of the supported and the low molecular c099 species. An additional indexed section containing several hundred abstracts from the Rapra Polymer Library database provides useful references for further reading.

Polymeric Materials in Organic Synthesis and Catalysis by Michael R. Buchmeiser Pdf

This is the first book to describe the synthesis and characterization of the materials used in polymer-supported synthesis. The authors cover not only the classical polymers and their use in homogeneous, heterogeneous and micellar catalysis, but also such new developments as "enzyme-labile linkers", illustrating how to simplify the purification process and avoid waste. The result is a wealth of useful information -- for beginners and experts alike - in one handy reference, removing the need for difficult and time-consuming research among the literature.

Supported Catalysts and Their Applications by David C Sherrington,A P Kybett Pdf

The need to improve both the efficiency and environmental acceptability of industrial processes is driving the development of heterogeneous catalysts across the chemical industry, including commodity, specialty and fine chemicals and in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Drawing on international research, Supported Catalysts and their Applications discusses aspects of the design, synthesis and application of solid supported reagents and catalysts, including supported reagents for multi-step organic synthesis; selectivity in oxidation catalysis; mesoporous molecular sieve catalysts; and the use of Zeolite Beta in organic reactions. In addition, the two discrete areas of heterogeneous catalysis (inorganic oxide materials and polymer-based catalysts) that were developing in parallel are now shown to be converging, which will be of great benefit to the whole field. Providing a snapshot of the state-of-the-art in this fast-moving field, this book will be welcomed by industrialists and researchers, particularly in the agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals industries.

Polymer Supported Organic Catalysts by Narendra Chauhan,Sapana Jadoun Pdf

Polymer-supported organic catalysts are largely insoluble in most reaction solvents, which allows for easy recovery and recycling of the catalysts. They are generally stable, readily available, and environmental friendly, so they have attracted the interest of many synthetic chemists in the industrial and academic fields. In this book, different types of polymer-supported catalysts based on peptides, polystyrene, polyethers, poly(acrylic acid), poly(ethylene imine), poly(2-oxazoline), poly(isobutylene), poly(norbornene), etc., as well as metals are included with their synthetic organic synthesis applications. It is believed that this work will be of interest to organic chemists, material scientists, chemical engineers, polymer scientists and technologists.

Principles of Polymer Chemistry by A. Ravve Pdf

This successful textbook undergoes a change of character in the third edition. Where earlier editions covered organic polymer chemistry, the third edition covers both physical and organic chemistry. Thus kinetics and thermodynamics of polymerization reactions are discussed. This edition is also distinct from all other polymer textbooks because of its coverage of such currently hot topics as photonic polymers, electricity conducting polymers, polymeric materials for immobilization of reagents and drug release, organic solar cells, organic light emitting diodes. This textbook contains review questions at the end of every chapter, references for further reading, and numerous examples of commercially important processes.

Metal-Containing Polymeric Systems by John E. Sheats,Charles E. Carraher Jr.,Charles U. Pittman Pdf

Research on metal-containing polymers began in the early 1960's when several workers found that vinyl ferrocene and other vinylic transition metal u -com plexes would undergo polymerization under the same conditions as conventional organic monomers to form high polymers which incorporated a potentially reactive metal as an integral part of the polymer structures. Some of these materials could act as semi-conducters and pos sessed one or two dimensional conductivity. Thus appli cations in electronics could be visualized immediately. Other workers found that reactions used to make simple metal chelates could be used to prepare polymers if the ligands were designed properly. As interest in homo geneous catalysts developed in the late 60's and early 70's, several investigators began binding homogeneous catalysts onto polymers, where the advantage of homo geneous catalysis - known reaction mechanisms and the advantage of heterogeneous catalysis - simplicity and ease of recovery of catalysts could both be obtained. Indeed the polymer matrix itself often enhanced the selectivity of the catalyst.

Preparative Chemistry Using Supported Reagents by Pierre Laszlo Pdf

Preparative Chemistry Using Supported Reagents explains a certain dimension in the methodology of organic reactions. This book discusses the physical methods for study that characterizes surfaces and their adsorbates and chemical reactivity at interfaces. The polymer-supported reagents, shape-selectivity within zeolites, and graphite intercalates are also described. Other topics include the metal oxides and their physico-chemical properties in catalysis and synthesis; photochemistry of adsorbed molecules; and magnetic spin resonance methods and applications to oxide surfaces. The physico-chemical characterization of supported reagents; polymer-supported oxidations; and alumina and alumina-supported reagents are likewise deliberated. This text also covers the novel aluminophosphate-based molecular sieves, clay-activated isomerization reactions, anionic activation, and cationic reactions. This publication is beneficial to chemists and researchers conducting work on supported reagents.
