Handbook of Neural Computing Applications by Alianna J. Maren,Craig T. Harston,Robert M. Pap Pdf

Handbook of Neural Computing Applications is a collection of articles that deals with neural networks. Some papers review the biology of neural networks, their type and function (structure, dynamics, and learning) and compare a back-propagating perceptron with a Boltzmann machine, or a Hopfield network with a Brain-State-in-a-Box network. Other papers deal with specific neural network types, and also on selecting, configuring, and implementing neural networks. Other papers address specific applications including neurocontrol for the benefit of control engineers and for neural networks researchers. Other applications involve signal processing, spatio-temporal pattern recognition, medical diagnoses, fault diagnoses, robotics, business, data communications, data compression, and adaptive man-machine systems. One paper describes data compression and dimensionality reduction methods that have characteristics, such as high compression ratios to facilitate data storage, strong discrimination of novel data from baseline, rapid operation for software and hardware, as well as the ability to recognized loss of data during compression or reconstruction. The collection can prove helpful for programmers, computer engineers, computer technicians, and computer instructors dealing with many aspects of computers related to programming, hardware interface, networking, engineering or design.

Photorealistic Rendering Techniques by Georgios Sakas,Peter Shirley,Stefan Müller Pdf

This book contains the final versions of the proceedings of the fifth EUROGRA PHICS Workshop on Rendering held in Darmstadt, Germany, between 13-15 June 1994. With around 80 participants and 30 papers, the event continued the successful tradition of the previous ones establishing the event as the most im portant meeting for persons working on this area world-wide. After more than 20 years of research, rendering remains an partially unsolved, interesting, and challenging topic. This year 71 (!) papers have been submitted from Europe, North America, and Asia. The average quality in terms of technical merit was impressive, showing that substantial work is achieved on this topic from several groups around the world. In general we all gained the impression that in the mean time the technical quality of the contributions is comparable to that of a specialised high-end, full scale conference. All papers have been reviewed from at least three members of the program committee. In addition, several colleagues helped us in managing the reviewing process in time either by supporting additional reviews, or by assisting the members of the committee. We have been very happy to welcome eminent invited speakers. Holly Rush meier is internationally well known for her excellent work in all areas of rendering and gave us a review of modelling and rendering participating media with em phasis on scientific visualization. In addition, Peter Shirley presented a survey about future rends in rendering techniques.

RF Circuit Design by Richard C. Li Pdf

Summarizes the schemes and technologies in RF circuit design, describes the basic parameters of an RF system and the fundamentals of RF system design, and presents an introduction of the individual RF circuit block design. Forming the backbone of today's mobile and satellite communications networks, radio frequency (RF) components and circuits are incorporated into everything that transmits or receives a radio wave, such as mobile phones, radio, WiFi, and walkie talkies. RF Circuit Design, Second Edition immerses practicing and aspiring industry professionals in the complex world of RF design. Completely restructured and reorganized with new content, end-of-chapter exercises, illustrations, and an appendix, the book presents integral information in three complete sections: Part One explains the different methodologies between RF and digital circuit design and covers voltage and power transportation, impedance matching in narrow-band case and wide-band case, gain of a raw device, measurement, and grounding. It also goes over equipotentiality and current coupling on ground surface, as well as layout and packaging, manufacturability of product design, and radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC). Part Two includes content on the main parameters and system analysis in RF circuit design, the fundamentals of differential pair and common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR), Balun, and system-on-a-chip (SOC). Part Three covers low-noise amplifier (LNA), power amplifier (PA), voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), mixers, and tunable filters. RF Circuit Design, Second Edition is an ideal book for engineers and managers who work in RF circuit design and for courses in electrical or electronic engineering.

Field Robotics - Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Climbing and Walking Robots and the Support Technologies for Mobile Machines by Philippe Bidaud Pdf

This book provides state of the art scientific and engineering research findings and developments in the area of mobile robotics and associated support technologies. The book contains peer reviewed articles presented at the CLAWAR 2011 conference. A great deal of interest is vested in the use of robots outside the factory environment. The CLAWAR conference series, established as a high profile international event, acts as a platform for dissemination of research and development findings and supports the trend to address current interest in mobile robotics to meet the needs of mankind in various segments of the society. Field robotics aims to bring technologies that allow autonomous systems to assist and/or replace humans performing tasks that are difficult, repetitive, unpleasant, or take place in hazardous environments. These robotic systems will bring sociological and economic benefits through improved human safety, increased equipment utilisation, reduced maintenance costs and increased production.

Intelligent Modeling, Diagnosis And Control Of Manufacturing Processes by B-t Chu,Su-shing Chen Pdf

This volume demonstrates that the key to the modeling, diagnosis and control of the next generation manufacturing processes is to integrate knowledge-based systems with traditional techniques. An up-to-date study is given here of this relatively recent development. The book is for those working primarily with traditional techniques and those working in the knowledge-based systems field. Both sets of readers will find it to be a source of many specific ideas about the integration of knowledge-based systems with traditional techniques, and carrying a wealth of useful references.

Human Interaction with Complex Systems by Celestine A. Ntuen,Eui H. Park Pdf

Human-System interaction has been and will continue to be of interest to many researchers of various disciplines: engineers, computer scientists, psychologists, and social scientists. The research in Human-System Interaction (HSI) has progressed from the era of using anthropomorphic data to design workspace to the current period which utilizes human and artificial sensors to design sensory-based cooperative workspace. In either of these developments, HSI has been known to be complex. In 1994, we initiated a series of symposiums on Human Interaction with Complex Systems. It was then that various ideas surrounding HSI for today and tomorrow were discussed by many scientists in the related disciplines. As a follow-up, in 1995 the Second Symposium was organized. The objective of this symposium was to attempt to defme a framework, principles, and theories for HSI research. This book is the result of that symposium. The 1995 symposium brought together a number of experts in the area of HSI. The symposium was more focused on expert opinions and testimonies than traditional meetings for technical papers. There were three reasons for that approach.
