3D Robotic Mapping by Andreas Nüchter Pdf

Focuses on acquiring spatial models of physical environments through mobile robots The robotic mapping problem is commonly referred to as SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping). 3D maps are necessary to avoid collisions with complex obstacles and to self-localize in six degrees of freedom (x-, y-, z-position, roll, yaw and pitch angle) New solutions to the 6D SLAM problem for 3D laser scans are proposed and a wide variety of applications are presented

Computer Analysis of Images and Patterns by Franc Solina,Ales Leonardis Pdf

This volume presents the articles accepted for the 8th International Conference on Computer Analysis of Images and Patterns (CAIP’99), held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, 1{3 September 1999. The CAIP series of conferences started 14 years ago in Berlin. The series served initially as a forum for meetings between sci- tists from Western and Eastern-bloc countries. Political circumstances have changed dramatically since the inception of the conference and such contacts are fortunately no longer subject to abstrade. While CAIP conferences are still rooted in Central Europe, they now attract participants from all over the world. We received 120 submissions, which went through a thorough double blind review process by the program committee members who, had the option of - signing additional reviewers. The nal program consists of 47 oral and 27 poster presentations, with authors from 25 di erent countries. The proceedings also include 2 of the 5 invited lectures given at the conference. In the name of the steering committee we would like to thank the program committee members and the additional reviewers for their time and e orts. Our thanks also go to the authors for their cooperation and meeting of all deadlines.

Point-Based Graphics by Markus Gross,Hanspeter Pfister Pdf

The polygon-mesh approach to 3D modeling was a huge advance, but today its limitations are clear. Longer render times for increasingly complex images effectively cap image complexity, or else stretch budgets and schedules to the breaking point. Comprised of contributions from leaders in the development and application of this technology, Point-Based Graphics examines it from all angles, beginning with the way in which the latest photographic and scanning devices have enabled modeling based on true geometry, rather than appearance. From there, it’s on to the methods themselves. Even though point-based graphics is in its infancy, practitioners have already established many effective, economical techniques for achieving all the major effects associated with traditional 3D Modeling and rendering. You’ll learn to apply these techniques, and you’ll also learn how to create your own. The final chapter demonstrates how to do this using Pointshop3D, an open-source tool for developing new point-based algorithms. The first book on a major development in computer graphics by the pioneers in the field Shows how 3D images can be manipulated as easily as 2D images are with Photoshop

Anthropometry, Apparel Sizing and Design by Norsaadah Zakaria,Deepti Gupta Pdf

Anthropometry, Apparel Sizing and Design, Second Edition, reviews techniques in anthropometry, sizing system developments, and their applications to clothing design. The book addresses the need for the improved characterization of population size, weights and the shapes of consumers. This new edition presents the very latest advances, and is expanded to include in-depth coverage of sizing and fit for specific groups and applications. Sections cover the development of sizing systems, classification and body types, the use of anthropometric data, body measurement devices and techniques, including 3D scanners for the full body and for particular body parts, 4D scanning technology and motion analysis. Additional sections cover testing and the evaluation of fit and anthropometric sizing systems for particular functions, thus reflecting the increasing need for apparel to meet specific needs, such as in swimwear, protective clothing, mobility, intimate apparel, footwear and compression garments. This book will be an essential reference source for apparel designers, manufacturers, retailers and merchandisers. Its detailed information and data will also be of great interest to researchers and postgraduate students across clothing technology, product design, fashion and textiles. Reviews methods and techniques in anthropometry, sizing system development, and applications in clothing design Enables users to understand and utilize detailed anthropometric data Covers sizing and fit for particular uses, including protective clothing, compression garments, intimate apparel and footwear

Modified Mass-spring System for Physically Based Deformation Modeling by Oussama Jarrousse Pdf

Mass-spring systems are considered the simplest and most intuitive of all deformable models. They are computationally efficient, and can handle large deformations with ease. But they suffer several intrinsic limitations. In this book a modified mass-spring system for physically based deformation modeling that addresses the limitations and solves them elegantly is presented. Several implementations in modeling breast mechanics, heart mechanics and for elastic images registration are presented.

Artificial Intelligence Research and Development by D. Riaño,E. Onaindia,M. Cazorla Pdf

One hundred years after the birth of Alan Turing, the great pioneer of computer science, artificial intelligence has become so much a part of everyday life that it is hard to imagine the world without it. This book contains papers from the 15th International Conference of the Catalan Association of Artificial Intelligence (CCIA 2012), held at the Universitat d’Alicant, Spain, in October 2012. Since 1994 the Catalan Association of Artificial Intelligence (ACIA) has fostered cooperation between researchers in artificial intelligence within the Catalan speaking community. The annual CCIA is its international conference, a platform where not only researchers from Catalan speaking countries, but also those working in artificial intelligence worldwide, have found a place to show, discuss and publish the results of their researches and developments. The 23 papers presented here, which include contributions from the AI community all over the world, cover topics such as KDD, DM and machine learning; natural language processing and recommenders; computer vision; robotics; AI for optimization problems and AI applications in the real world. The book also includes the contributions of the two invited keynote speakers at the conference - Oscar Cordón and Eduardo Nebot - which respectively address the subjects of real-world applications of soft artificial intelligence, and challenges of automation and safety in field robotics.
