Thailand attracts a large number of migrants, particularly from its neighbouring countries namely Cambodia, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Myanmar, due to both push and pull factors. In order to extend its successful universal health coverage (UHC) system to migrant populations in Thailand and to accumulate and contribute important lessons and knowledge to the global community, the Thailand Ministry of Public Health accepted WHOs invitation to pilot the Refugee and Migrant Health Country Assessment Tool to collaboratively review progress and challenges in advancing UHC for migrants in Thailand. Refugee and migrant health system review: challenges and opportunities for long-term health system strengthening in Czechia by World Health Organization Pdf
Following the Russian Federation's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Czechia encountered an unprecedented arrival of refugees from Ukraine, mainly women and children. This situation posed a new set of challenges. As of July 2023, 65% of these refugees have chosen to stay in Czechia, primarily in Prague and the Central Bohemian Region. Integrating refugees into the education and health systems, already strained by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, is crucial. Those with protection status face challenges such as income poverty, employment, language barriers and housing issues. Czechia has a legislative structure for migrants and asylum seekers. In response to the Temporary Protection Directive from the European Commission, Czechia activated three acts in what is known as the Lex Ukraine and established temporary protection status primarily for foreign nationals fleeing the Russian invasion. This move offered full public health insurance coverage at no initial cost. World Health Organization (WHO) and the Czech Ministry of Health (Ministerstvo zdravotnictví) conducted a joint review mission to provide a comprehensive overview of the health system's response, with the aim of understanding service delivery challenges and identifying opportunities to further support Czechia in strengthening health system capacity and ensuring continued access to health services for refugees and host communities.

Investing to Overcome the Global Impact of Neglected Tropical Diseases by World Health Organization Pdf
"The presence, or absence, of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) can be seen as a proxy for poverty and for the success of interventions aimed at reducing poverty. Today, coverage of the public-health interventions recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) against NTDs may be interpreted as a proxy for universal health coverage and shared prosperity - in short, a proxy for coverage against neglect. As the world's focus shifts from development to sustainable development, from poverty eradication to shared prosperity, and from disease-specific goals to universal health coverage, control of NTDs will assume an important role towards the target of achieving universal health coverage, including individual financial risk protection. Success in overcoming NTDs is a "litmus test" for universal health coverage against NTDs in endemic countries. The first WHO report on NTDs (2010) set the scene by presenting the evidence for how these interventions had produced results. The second report (2013) assessed the progress made in deploying them and detailed the obstacles to their implementation. This third report analyses for the first time the investments needed to achieve the scale up of implementation required to achieve the targets of the WHO Roadmap on NTDs and universal coverage against NTDs. INVESTING TO OVERCOME THE GLOBAL IMPACT OF NEGLECTED TROPICAL DISEASES presents an investment strategy for NTDs and analyses the specific investment case for prevention, control, elimination and eradication of 12 of the 17 NTDs. Such an analysis is justified following the adoption by the Sixty-sixth World Health Assembly in 2013 of resolution WHA6612 on neglected tropical diseases, which called for sufficient and predictable funding to achieve the Roadmap's targets and sustain control efforts. The report cautions, however, that it is wise investment and not investment alone that will yield success. The report registers progress and challenges and signals those that lie ahead. Climate change is expected to increase the spread of several vector-borne NTDs, notably dengue, transmission of which is directly influenced by temperature, rainfall, relative humidity and climate variability primarily through their effects on the vector. Investments in vector-borne diseases will avoid the potentially catastrophic expenditures associated with their control. The presence of NTDs will thereby signal an early warning system for climate-sensitive diseases. In 2004 the Indonesian government made a commitment to provide its entire population with health insurance coverage through a mandatory public health insurance scheme. It has moved boldly already provides coverage to an estimated 76.4 million poor and near poor, funded through the public budget. Nevertheless, over half the population still lacks health insurance coverage, and the full fiscal impacts of the government's program for the poor have not been fully assessed or felt. In addition, significant deficiencies in the efficiency and equity of the current health system, unless addressed will exacerbate cost pressures and could preclude the effective implementation of universal coverage (Ue and the desired result of improvements in population health outcomes and financial protection. For Indonesia to achieve UC, systems' performance must be improved and key policy choices with respect to the configuration of the health financing system must be made. Indonesia's health system performs well with respect to some health outcomes and financial protection, but there is potential for significant improvement. High-level political decisions are necessary on key elements of the health financing reform package. The key transitional questions to get there include: [ the benefits that can be afforded and their impacts on health outcomes and financial protection; [ how the more than 50 percent of those currently without coverage will be insured; [ how to pay medical care providers to assure access, efficiency, and quality; [ developing a streamlined and efficient administrative structure; [ how to address the current supply constraints to assure availability of promised services; [ how to raise revenues to finance the system, including the program for the poor as well as currently uninsured groups that may require government subsidization such as the more than 60 million informal sector workers, the 85 percent of workers in firms of less than five employees, and the 70 percent of the population living in rural areas.
