Reruns on File by Donald G. Godfrey Pdf

For more than half a century, broadcast recordings have reflected an important aspect of our culture and history. An increasing number of archivists and private collectors have restored and exchanged radio and television materials. However, despite the awareness of these primary resource materials, there is still some reluctance to utilize this aural and visual history resource. A part of this reluctance is due to the fact that little is known about the existence of many collections throughout the nation. This volume provides a comprehensive directory of electronic media archives in the United States and Canada. It describes each collection, focusing on its speciality, providing the serious researcher with ready access information to these electronic media program resources. Focusing on both private and institutional collections, it is organized by state and city with indexes to provide the scholar with subject and location of specific topics of interest.

Practical Data Science with Python by Nathan George Pdf

Learn to effectively manage data and execute data science projects from start to finish using Python Key FeaturesUnderstand and utilize data science tools in Python, such as specialized machine learning algorithms and statistical modelingBuild a strong data science foundation with the best data science tools available in PythonAdd value to yourself, your organization, and society by extracting actionable insights from raw dataBook Description Practical Data Science with Python teaches you core data science concepts, with real-world and realistic examples, and strengthens your grip on the basic as well as advanced principles of data preparation and storage, statistics, probability theory, machine learning, and Python programming, helping you build a solid foundation to gain proficiency in data science. The book starts with an overview of basic Python skills and then introduces foundational data science techniques, followed by a thorough explanation of the Python code needed to execute the techniques. You'll understand the code by working through the examples. The code has been broken down into small chunks (a few lines or a function at a time) to enable thorough discussion. As you progress, you will learn how to perform data analysis while exploring the functionalities of key data science Python packages, including pandas, SciPy, and scikit-learn. Finally, the book covers ethics and privacy concerns in data science and suggests resources for improving data science skills, as well as ways to stay up to date on new data science developments. By the end of the book, you should be able to comfortably use Python for basic data science projects and should have the skills to execute the data science process on any data source. What you will learnUse Python data science packages effectivelyClean and prepare data for data science work, including feature engineering and feature selectionData modeling, including classic statistical models (such as t-tests), and essential machine learning algorithms, such as random forests and boosted modelsEvaluate model performanceCompare and understand different machine learning methodsInteract with Excel spreadsheets through PythonCreate automated data science reports through PythonGet to grips with text analytics techniquesWho this book is for The book is intended for beginners, including students starting or about to start a data science, analytics, or related program (e.g. Bachelor’s, Master’s, bootcamp, online courses), recent college graduates who want to learn new skills to set them apart in the job market, professionals who want to learn hands-on data science techniques in Python, and those who want to shift their career to data science. Mechanism Design by Kevin Russell,Qiong Shen,Raj S. Sodhi Pdf

In the field of mechanism design, kinematic synthesis is a creative means to produce mechanism solutions. Combined with the emergence of powerful personal computers, mathematical analysis software and the development of quantitative methods for kinematic synthesis, there is an endless variety of possible mechanism solutions that users are free to explore, realize, and evaluate for any given problem in an efficient and practical manner. Mechanism Design: Visual and Programmable Approaches provides a broad introduction to kinematic synthesis, presenting and applying motion, path, and function generation methodologies for some of the most basic planar and spatial single and multi-loop linkage systems. This work provides numerous in-chapter synthesis examples and end-of-chapter synthesis problems. Users can also invent their own specialized synthesis problems according to their particular interests. The commercial mathematical software package MATLAB® and its mechanical system modeling and simulation module SimMechanics® are thoroughly integrated in this textbook for mechanism synthesis and analysis. The reader is therefore enabled to readily apply the design approaches presented in this textbook to synthesize mechanism systems and visualize their results. With this knowledge of both kinematic synthesis theory and computer-based application, readers will be well-equipped to invent novel mechanical system designs for a wide range of applications.

On Systems Analysis and Simulation of Ecological Processes with Examples in CSMP and FORTRAN by P.A. Leffelaar Pdf

A system may be studied by distinguishing its major components, characterizing the changes in them by differential equations that form their simplified representa tions, and then interconnecting these representations to obtain a model of the original system. Developing the model is the systems synthesis phase. The behaviour of the model may now be studied and compared with experimental results obtained from the system. This research method is called systems analysis and simulation. Systems analysis and simulation can serve to make predictions, to improve the insight in systems, and to test knowledge on consistency and completeness. Predictive models are rare in ecology, simply because the underlying processes which form the basis of the models are seldom well known. A successful example of a predictive model was the work of van Keulen (1975). He showed that under semi arid conditions, where water is the main factor controlling primary production, the simulation technique could predict the production of natural grasslands. Fair predicti ons could also be made for the Sahelian pastures (Penning de Vries & Djiteye, 1982). Predictive models of populations of different pest and disease organisms are being used in biological control systems (Zadoks et aI., 1984).

Writing GNU Emacs Extensions by Bob Glickstein Pdf

Yes, it is possible to be all things to all people, if you're talking about the Emacs editor. As a user, you can make any kind of customization you want, from choosing the keystrokes that invoke your favorite commands to creating a whole new work environment that looks like nothing ever developed before. It's all in Emacs Lisp -- and in this short but fast-paced book.GNU Emacs is more than an editor; it's a programming environment, a communications package, and many other things. To provide such a broad range of functions, it offers a full version of the Lisp programming language -- something much more powerful than the little macro languages provided in other editors (including older versions of Emacs). GNU Emacs is a framework in which you can create whole new kinds of editors or just alter aspects of the many functions it already provides. In this book, Bob Glickstein delves deep into the features that permit far-reaching Emacs customizations. He teaches you the Lisp language and discusses Emacs topics (such as syntax tables and macro templates) in easy-to-digest portions. Examples progress in complexity from simple customizations to extensive major modes. You will learn how to write interactive commands, use hooks and advice, perform error recovery, manipulate windows, buffers, and keymaps, exploit and alter Emacs's main loop, and more. Each topic is explored through realistic examples and a series of successive refinements that illustrate not only the Emacs Lisp language, but the development process as well, making learning pleasant and natural.
