Left Cross Right Cross by G. Chip Greene Pdf

Left Cross, Right Cross explores the early, teen, and adult life of Jesus as he grows up with childhood friends Cris and Daani. The author weaves these lives and families inexplicably together for eternity. The three form an inseparable bond and kinship born of the ages. Ultimately, they separate as teens as the plan of heaven begins to unfold. Jesus retreats to the wilderness and defines his godly heritage and ultimate mission. His friends stray from their traditions and teachings and find heartache, trouble, and strife in the dark Philistine city of Ashod. The providence of YHWH reunites the trio at the foot of Calvary's cross for an unforgettable day of human anguish and decision. ***** Couldn't put it down! Easy read. Fiction, but shows the true love of Jesus. Need to share this with anyone you love. What a blessing. -Al and Linda Maus This book was very moving and made Jesus's death more real to me. Anyone who believes should read this work. -Maureen Pfaff While fully divine, this book brings out Jesus's full humanity. Can't wait to read this author again. -Elmerine Vest I enjoyed this author's work! I was drawn to his use of sensory details and vivid imagery throughout! -Diane Adams G. Chip Greene has a very special gift for writing. No one knows what the early years of Jesus were really like; however, this is one great perspective! -David K. Hicks

Something Went Wrong? / Right! Real Studies of Leadership in Cross-Cultural Ministry by Alan Robert Pence Pdf

Something Went Wrong? / Right! Real Studies of Leadership in Cross-Cultural Ministry consists of 37 brief stories that originate from the cross-cultural development and leadership work of linguistic experts Alan Robert Pence and his wife, Patricia. After each story, discussion sections feature leadership issues and relevant scriptures. This is a comprehensive training resource for those going into leadership in cross-cultural ministry and in other nonprofit organizations. Alan Robert Pence and his wife began training and service with Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL International in 1956. Following their arrival in Papua, New Guinea in 1959, they worked with the Kunimaipa (Gajili) Language Group as linguists and translators. In their five-year assignment, Alan learned to speak Kunimaipa, analyzed the grammar, compiled a dictionary, researched and got approval for an alphabet, and translated an abridged form of the book of Genesis. If you believe that experience is the best teacher, Al Pence's collection of real situations over many years is a 'must read' for anyone involved in or interested in international mission work. His ability to link real world situations to biblical references for guidance is outstanding. - Gerald Van Eeckhout, Retired Executive and Professor, University of Shanghai

Right of Way by Angie Schmitt Pdf

The face of the pedestrian safety crisis looks a lot like Ignacio Duarte-Rodriguez. The 77-year old grandfather was struck in a hit-and-run crash while trying to cross a high-speed, six-lane road without crosswalks near his son’s home in Phoenix, Arizona. He was one of the more than 6,000 people killed while walking in America in 2018. In the last ten years, there has been a 50 percent increase in pedestrian deaths. The tragedy of traffic violence has barely registered with the media and wider culture. Disproportionately the victims are like Duarte-Rodriguez—immigrants, the poor, and people of color. They have largely been blamed and forgotten. In Right of Way, journalist Angie Schmitt shows us that deaths like Duarte-Rodriguez’s are not unavoidable “accidents.” They don’t happen because of jaywalking or distracted walking. They are predictable, occurring in stark geographic patterns that tell a story about systemic inequality. These deaths are the forgotten faces of an increasingly urgent public-health crisis that we have the tools, but not the will, to solve. Schmitt examines the possible causes of the increase in pedestrian deaths as well as programs and movements that are beginning to respond to the epidemic. Her investigation unveils why pedestrians are dying—and she demands action. Right of Way is a call to reframe the problem, acknowledge the role of racism and classism in the public response to these deaths, and energize advocacy around road safety. Ultimately, Schmitt argues that we need improvements in infrastructure and changes to policy to save lives. Right of Way unveils a crisis that is rooted in both inequality and the undeterred reign of the automobile in our cities. It challenges us to imagine and demand safer and more equitable cities, where no one is expendable.

Cross Purposes by Bob Welch Pdf

IN 2016, BOB WELCH--that rare combination of newspaper columnist and Christian--prayed a prayer that he believes changed his life. Over the next five years, he discovered he'd been quietly complicit in allowing the rage of far-right politics to distort the faith of evangelicals, including his own. During a 2020 sailboat trip to spread his mother's ashes, Welch commits to writing a book that he knows may rankle his fellow believers, but he can't stay silent. Amid hot-button issues such as Trump, COVID, and race, he dares to ply the shores of uncertainty in an attempt to answer a question theologian Henri Nouwen so eloquently asked: "To whom do I belong? To God or to the world?"
