Randy, Beer and Rock 'n' Roses by Alfred Groff Pdf

This story touches all perspectives of a human being: socio-political, inner-psychological, transpersonal-spiritual. Randy's social worker finds him an apartment in a community, where topics such as democracy, regional money, the economy for the common good, permaculture,100% money and unconditional basic income are the order of the day. He works on an organic farm, jogs with a civil servant, gets a massage from a tantric woman, falls in love, escapes into the solitude of the forest, survives a death struggle and meets willing women in a cupboard. Finally, Randy travels and visits the communities in the Ecovillages Findhorn, Tamera, Sekem and Auroville. And then the telephone rings! Excerpt from one of the first feedbacks: "I came across this book by chance. The title caught my interest. But I feared a very complicated work; I like things to be simple, clear, and intuitively comprehensible. But my first glance at the book reassured me. It seemed to be written in a generally understandable way. This was confirmed as the book progressed. Technical terms were explained, and I could understand most of the theories on first reading. I found Kushala's first question to Randy rather unworldly if you know the 'normal world'. And yet Kushala is just like that. She belongs to an educated elite who don't really know how people out there think and speak. But that's exactly why they want the 'normal' Randy in the community. I really liked him right from the start. For a 'normal guy', as I have met many out there, he is surprisingly open-minded and open-hearted. He doesn't understand everything, but he gets involved. So much so that he quickly experiences the positive aspects of meditation and the other spiritual and physical benefits. I think that's great; he doesn't seem to have any deep resistance to these experiences, he really just seems to be inexperienced in this area. So, he is clearly a person who wants to develop in this positive direction, and then does so. The book captivated me. I started reading it in one evening, and one evening later I had already read the whole thing. Thank you for the great book and the great story. The message is great. The writing style is understandable. The story is exciting. This is a book I will recommend and give as a gift. This is also a good book as a basis for discussions and conversations in writing and reading groups."

Last of the Giants by Mick Wall Pdf

'Last Of the Giants is the mad, funny, dark and often painful story of a lost band from a now-distant time' CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE INCLUDES BRAND NEW CHAPTER COVERING GUNS N' ROSES EPIC WORLD TOUR 'Any story about Guns is worth reading. But when the author is Mick Wall it's absolutely essential' KERRANG Many millions of words have already been written about Guns N' Roses, the old line-up, the new line-up. But none of them have ever really gotten to the truth. Which is this: Guns N' Roses has always been a band out of time, the Last of the Giants. They are what every rock band since the Rolling Stones has tried and nearly always failed to be: dangerous. At a time when smiling, MTV-friendly, safe-sex, just-say-no Bon Jovi was the biggest band in the world, here was a band that seemed to have leapt straight out of the coke-smothered pages of the original, golden-age, late-sixties rock scene. 'Live like a suicide', the band used to say when they all lived together in the Hell House, their notorious LA home. And this is where Mick Wall first met them, and became part of their inner circle, before famously being denounced by name by Axl Rose in the song 'Get in the Ring'. But this book isn't about settling old scores. Written with the clear head that 25 years later brings you, this is a celebration of Guns N' Roses the band, and of Axl Rose the frontman who really is that thing we so desperately want him to be: the last of the truly extraordinary, all-time great, no apologies, no explanations, no giving-a-shit rock stars. The last of his kind.

Nöthin' But a Good Time by Tom Beaujour,Richard Bienstock Pdf

Soon to be a Paramount+ exclusive docuseries! The New York Times Bestseller The Explosive National Bestseller "A backstage pass to the wildest and loudest party in rock history—you'll feel like you were right there with us!" —Bret Michaels of Poison Nothin' But a Good Time is the definitive, no-holds-barred oral history of 1980s hard rock and hair metal, told by the musicians and industry insiders who lived it. Hard rock in the 1980s was a hedonistic and often intensely creative wellspring of escapism that perfectly encapsulated—and maybe even helped to define—a spectacularly over-the-top decade. Indeed, fist-pumping hits like Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” Mötley Crüe’s “Girls, Girls, Girls,” and Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” are as inextricably linked to the era as Reaganomics, PAC-MAN, and E.T. From the do-or-die early days of self-financed recordings and D.I.Y. concert productions that were as flashy as they were foolhardy, to the multi-Platinum, MTV-powered glory years of stadium-shaking anthems and chart-topping power ballads, to the ultimate crash when grunge bands like Nirvana forever altered the entire climate of the business, Tom Beaujour and Richard Bienstock's Nothin' But a Good Time captures the energy and excess of the hair metal years in the words of the musicians, managers, producers, engineers, label executives, publicists, stylists, costume designers, photographers, journalists, magazine publishers, video directors, club bookers, roadies, groupies, and hangers-on who lived it. Featuring an impassioned foreword by Slipknot and Stone Sour vocalist and avowed glam metal fanatic Corey Taylor, and drawn from over two hundred author interviews with members of Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, Poison, Guns N’ Roses, Skid Row, Bon Jovi, Ratt, Twisted Sister, Winger, Warrant, Cinderella, Quiet Riot and others, as well as Ozzy Osbourne, Lita Ford, and many more, this is the ultimate, uncensored, and often unhinged, chronicle of a time where excess and success walked hand in hand, told by the men and women who created a sound and style that came to define a musical era—one in which the bands and their fans went looking for nothin’ but a good time...and found it.

Guns N' Roses Trivia Book by Dale Raynes Pdf

A lot of rock bands are wild. Many of them cultivate that sex, drugs, and rock and roll image. But Guns N' Roses is the real thing, so hedonistic and haunted by demons that they are ready to spin off the tracks at any given minute, as we will see. They did so. Repeatedly. Many of the questions and facts here will deal with their outrageous lifestyles and seemingly endless capacity for petty and profound feuds. The stories are jaw-dropping, and hopefully, you will enjoy every salacious detail. But let's not forget why we care in the first place: the amazing music. Sure, everyone appreciates Appetite for Destruction for what it is, the perfect debut album. But returning to their music today gives us a remarkable (though all too sparse) body of work. Patience is far more interesting than it seemed at the time. Use Your Illusion is not the bloated mess that critics made it out to be. It is a masterpiece. Even the troubled Chinese Democracy is far superior to what we had a right to expect. Guns N' Roses is a phenomenal band first-debauched train wreck second. We are excited that the boys are back together. While we wait for their next album, let's take a trip down memory lane. Do you know rock's ultimate bad boys? Let's see.

Guns N' Roses' Use Your Illusion I and II by Eric Weisbard Pdf

It was the season of the blockbuster. Between August 12 and November 26 1991, a whole slew of acts released albums that were supposed to sell millions of copies in the run-up to Christmas. Metallica, Michael Jackson, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Garth Brooks, MC Hammer, and U2 - all were competing for the attention of the record-buying public at the same time. But perhaps the most attention-seeking act of all was Guns N Roses. Their albums Use Your Illusion 1 and 2, released on the same day, were both 75-minute sprawlers with practically the same cover design - an act of colossal arrogance. On one level, it worked. The albums claimed the top two chart positions, and ultimately sold 7 million copies each in the US alone. On another level, it was a disaster. This was an album that Axl Rose has been unable to follow up in fifteen years. It signaled the end of Guns N Roses, of heavy metal on the Sunset Strip, and the entire 1980s model of blockbuster pop/rock promotion. Use Your Illusion marked the end of rock as mass culture. In this book, Eric Weisbard shows how the album has matured into a work whose baroque excesses now have something to teach us about pop and the platforms it raises and lowers, about a man who suddenly found himself praised to the firmament for every character trait that had hitherto marked him as an irredeemable loser.

Goodbye, Guns N’ Roses by Art Tavana Pdf

Goodbye, Guns N’ Roses transports the reader into a mind-altering trip through the colors, scandals, nihilism, and mythology that make Guns N’ Roses so much more than another “hair metal” band. A valentine and a breakup letter to one of rock’s most controversial bands. Goodbye, Guns N’ Roses is a genre-rattling attempt to explain the appeal of America’s most divisive rock band. While it includes uncharted history and the self-lacerating connoisseurship of a Guns N’ Roses fetishist, it is not a recycled chronicle — this book is a deconstruction of myth, one that blends high and low art sketches to examine how Guns N’ Roses impacted popular culture. Unlike those who have penned other treatments of what might be considered a clichéd subject, Art Tavana is not writing as a GNR patriot or former employee. His book aims to provide an untethered exploration that machetes through the jungle of propaganda camouflaging GNR’s explosive appeal. After circling the band’s three-decade plundering of American culture, Goodbye, Guns N’ Roses uncovers a postmodern portrait that persuades its viewer to think differently about their symbolic importance. This is not a rock bio but a biography of taste that treats a former “hair metal” band like a decomposing masterpiece. This is the first Guns N’ Roses book written for everyone; from the Sunset Strip to a hyper-digital generation’s connection to “Woke Axl,” it is a pop investigation that dodges no bullets.
