Rudolf Hess' Mission by David Green Pdf

In 1941 Rudolf Hess, Deputy Fuhrer of the Nazi Third Reich, flew a Messerschmitt 110 from Germany to Scotland in a desperate but vain attempt to seek a peaceful settlement of the hostilities between Germany and Great Britain. The British promptly imprisoned him, Hitler disavowed himself of any knowledge about the flight, and the Anglo-German war continued. This alternative view of history - a work of fiction based on actual events -- considers different potential outcomes and possible consequences."

Rudolf Hess by John Harris,Richard Wilbourn Pdf

On 10 May 1941, on a whim, Hitler's deputy Rudolf Hess flew a Messerschmitt Bf 110 to Scotland in a bizarre effort to make peace with Britain; Göring sent fighters to stop him but he was long gone. Imprisoned and tried at Nuremberg, he would die by his own hand in 1987, aged 93. That's the accepted explanation. Ever since, conspiracy theories have swirled around the famous mission. How strong were Hess's connections with the British establishment, including royalty? Was the death of the king's brother, the Duke of Kent, associated with the Hess overture for peace? In the many books written about Hess, one obvious line of enquiry has been overlooked, until now: an analysis of the flight itself – the flight plan, equipment, data sheets, navigation system. Through their long investigation, authors John Harris and Richard Wilbourn have come to a startling conclusion: whilst the flight itself has been well recorded, the target destination has remained hidden. The implications are far reaching and lend credence to the theory that the British establishment has hidden the truth of the full extent of British/Nazi communications, in part to spare the reputations of senior members of the Royal Family. Using original photography, documentation and diagrams, Rudolf Hess sheds light on one of the most intriguing stories of the Second World War.

Flight From Reality by David Stafford Pdf

Shortly after 11 pm on 10 May 1941, a Scottish ploughman spotted a parachutist floating to the ground in a field at Floors Farm, a dozen miles south of Glasgow. He ran out to find a burning twin-engine Messerschmitt Bf 110 bomber and an injured officer wearing the uniform of a captain of the German air force. The aviator identified himself as Captain Albert Horn and asked to be taken to see the Duke of Hamilton for whom, he claimed, he was carrying an important message. In reality, 'Captain Horn' was none other than Rudolf Hess, Deputy Führer and right-hand man of Adolf Hitler. Arrested and interrogated by various government officials, it soon emerged that Hess was seeking to negotiate a peace deal between Britain and Germany. Held as a prisoner of war for the next four years, he was convicted of conspiracy and crimes against peace at the Nuremberg Trials and sentenced to life imprisonment. Hess's flight to Britain has remained one of the most bizarre and mysterious chapters in the history of the Second World War and has created a multitude of colourful conspiracy theories. Some have claimed that Hess came as an emissary of Hitler or that his mission was engineered by British Intelligence; others that Hitler's deputy had died in a plane crash while flying with the Duke of Kent in 1942 and that a double went to trial in Nuremberg. In Flight from Reality, editor David Stafford has assembled an international team of experts on this episode, including Hugh Trevor-Roper, John Erickson, Warren Kimball and Len Deighton. The result is the definitive account of Hess's mission that separates fact from fiction and sheds new light on its significance in the history of the Second World War. Praise for Flight from Reality: 'Fascinating ... far more intriguing than the wildest conspiracy theory' - Scotland on Sunday David Stafford is the author or editor of several books on intelligence history, including Britain and European Resistance, Churchill and Secret Service, Roosevelt and Churchill: Men of Secrets and Secret Agent: The True Story of the Special Operations Executive. He is Project Director at the Centre for Second World War Studies in the Department of History at the University of Edinburgh.

Hess, Hitler and Churchill by Peter Padfield Pdf

When Hitler's deputy Rudolf Hess set off for Britain on a peace mission in May 1941, he launched one of the great mysteries of the Second World War. Had he really acted alone, without Hitler's knowledge? Who were the British he had come to see? Was British intelligence involved? Award-winning historian Peter Padfield presents striking new evidence that demands the wholesale reappraisal of the episode. For, allied to a powerful argument that Hess must have had both Hitler's backing and considerable encouragement from Britain, Padfield demonstrates that he also brought with him a draft peace treaty committing Hitler to the evacuation of occupied European countries. Made public, this would have destroyed Churchill's campaign to bring the United States into the war. Expertly woven into a compelling narrative that touches on Lord (Victor) Rothschild and the Cambridge spy ring, possible British foreknowledge of Operation Barbarossa and the 'final solution', MI6's use of Hess to prevent the bombing of London and the mysterious circumstances of his death in Spandau prison – including the previously unseen witness accounts from that day – Hess, Hitler and Churchill is among the most important history books of recent years.

Rudolf Hess by John Harris,Richard Wilbourn Pdf

The latest book from John Harris and Richard Wilbourn continues to build on their longstanding research into the Hess mystery over 25 years. Slowly, the fog that has descended over the Hess case is beginning to clear and Harris and Wilbourn expand here on the implications of their recent findings. There is now little doubt that MI6 were heavily involved in the Hess affair and this involvement is clearly described and explained. What is not so clear is whether MI6 was acting alone, outside of the incumbent Churchill government, in an attempt to be able to offer a viable peace between Nazi Germany and factions within Great Britain. These factions would much rather have preferred a negotiated settlement to a bloody invasion attempt in the summer of 1941. In order to enter into such negotiations MI6 recruited a Finnish Art historian, Tancred Borenius and sent him to Switzerland in January 1941. Additionally the role of the Polish government in exile is closely examined and in particular the role of Josef Retinger, the arch federalist. The evidence would now suggest that a separate peace was being negotiated, outside of governmental channels. That is why Hess flew to Scotland.
