Double Cross by Patrick Woodrow Pdf

When Ed Strachan's parents were killed in a horrific car crash eighteen years ago, they left their son a miserly inheritance: the memory of a mangled nursery rhyme and a cufflink inscribed with a single set of coordinates. But eighteen years later when a beautiful girl tries to poison Ed and steal the cufflink he guesses it may have greater significance than he had imagined. Christine Molyneux is just the first of many who will stop at nothing to get hold of it. Ed is soon prime suspect in a complicated homicide and immersed in a mystery that goes back way before his parent's death. It is a mystery that lies hidden off a coral island in the South China Sea; that has already cost thousands of lives and that will cost many more before it sees the light of day again. Fans of Clive Cussler will love Double Cross: a breathtaking mixture of mystery, action and undersea adventure.

Tactical Nuclear Weapons by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute Pdf

In the 1970s tactical nuclear warfare was a topical issue. The introduction of the new generation of tactical nuclear weapons into Europe could have had disastrous consequences. These new weapons had already been developed by nuclear-weapon laboratories and pressures were growing for their deployment. On first sight, smaller and more accurate nuclear weapons may seem more humane and militarily preferable to the relatively high-yield tactical nuclear weapons currently deployed. But some of these new types of weapons would blur the distinction between nuclear and conventional weapons and their use would make escalation to strategic nuclear war extremely likely. Indeed, the argument for these new weapons is that their use in wartime is more credible (and therefore ‘acceptable’) than current types of tactical nuclear weapons. This perception could easily lead to the exceedingly dangerous idea that some types of tactical nuclear war were ‘winnable’. The fact has to be faced that any use of nuclear weapons is almost certain to escalate until all available weapons are used. To believe otherwise is to believe that one side will surrender before it has used all the weapons in its arsenal. History shows that this is most unlikely to happen. Because of its importance, SIPRI organized a meeting to discuss the whole question. Originally published in 1978, this book is the outcome of that meeting.

Ghost Force by Patrick Robinson Pdf

The year is 2011. An oil-hungry world is starving . . . . . . and Argentina, with Russia's help, is determined to brutally wrest the petroleum-rich Falkland Islands from British hands. Enraged over this brazen act of international piracy, Great Britain dispatches a battle fleet to the islands for the second time in thirty years—unaware that Viper K-157, a lethal Russian Akula-class submarine, lies in wait, stuffed to the gunwales with ship-killingtorpedoes. America cannot sit idle as hell explodes in the South Atlantic and, under the stern eye of Admiral Arnold Morgan, the military's most powerful weapon is unleashed to hammer Argentina into submission: the U.S. Navy SEALs. The outcome of the unforeseen war that's igniting in America's backyard ultimately depends upon her awesome "ghost force” and their successful execution of two remarkable clandestine missions—while the consequences of failure may be too terrible to consider.
