He's been tasked to lead a new unit of the elite Night Stalkers, a unit that can outfly the rest of the pilots in SOAR (Special Operations Air Regiment), outshoot the best gunners in the SEALs or Deltas, and operate as indepdently as the most lawless gureillas. Sky Hunters: Anarchy's Reign by Jack Shane Pdf

Bobby Autry has always been a maverick. One of the best pilots in America's elite helicopter unit, nobody expected Autry to succeed when he was ordered to create a unit that could fly better than the Nightstalkers, shoot better than the SEALs, and think smarter than the CIA, but he delivered. He never cared about stepping on toes, only on getting results. But now Autry faces his biggest test. In the past, his strength as a soldier was in being able to operate independently, autonomously, without oversight. But now, he might have to take it one step further––he might actually have to break the law to get the job done. Autry has discovered a new threat to America, and it's coming from the inside. After intercepting a cache of weapons, he discovers that their destination is to be within one of America's biggest cities. A group of anarchists, hoping to fan of the flames of a politically–divided country, intends to transform the World Economic Summit into a war zone. With the time ticking down and government beuracracy slowing down the required response, Autry knows that the only way to defend his country is to break the law, arm his renegades, and pre–empt an insurrection on his own soil. If he isn't killed, he's almost certainly be court martialed, but caring about the rules was never Autry's style...

Beneath a Turkish Sky by Philip Lecane Pdf

It was the First World War's largest seaborne invasion and the Irish were at the forefront. Recruited in Ireland, the Royal Dublin Fusiliers were ordered to spearhead the invasion of Gallipoli in Turkey. Deadlocked in trench warfare on the Western Front, the British High Command hoped the assault would Germany's ally out of the war. Using letters and photographs, this book tells the story of the 'Dubs' officers and men called from an idyllic posting in India to be billeted on the civilian population in England. They then set off on what was presented as a great adventure to win glory and capture Constantinople. The book also gives the story of the Turkish defenders and the locality being invaded. Accompanied by the Royal Munster Fusiliers, packed aboard the SS River Clyde, the 'Dubs' landed from ships boats on the fiercely defended beach at Sedd-el-Bahr. The song The Foggy Dew says, "It were better to die beneath an Irish sky than at Suvla or Sedd-el-Bahr." This book tells the story of the forgotten Irishmen who died beneath a Turkish sky in what was Ireland's D-Day.

The American Cavalry in Vietnam by Jacques-François de Chaunac Pdf

Colonel Lyman C. Duryea (Retired) is a West Point graduate and former Commander of "C" Company of the 2d Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam in 1966. He served a second Vietnam tour as an advisor. In addition to various stateside assignments he served in Germany, France, the Congo, Panama, Haiti, and El Salvador. He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College and the Army War College. He holds Masters Degrees in Military Art and Science from the USAC & GSC, and French from Middlebury College. He has a Doctorate in Military History from Temple University. He has taught on the faculties of the Military Academy, the US Army School of the Americas, and the Army War College. His special interest is revolutionary theory. The action begins in October 1965 in the Vietnamese highlands. When the Green Berets and their allies, the Jarai montagnards are about to be submerged by North Vietnamese assaults, the Huey helicopters of the First Cav, as in Apocalypse Now, sow death in the communist ranks. From that moment on, there is no letup in the action. Ambushes, patrols, and large military operations follow one after the other. The author accompanies the infantrymen into the rice paddies, into the jungle, and on helicopters. He shares the life of the "sky soldiers." Documented using exclusively American sources, this book is also a work of military history. It traces the beginning of this unit, at once unique and autonomous, that has its own infantry, its own artillery, and its own airmobile logistical support system thanks to its five hundred helicopters. The First Cav, the most modern Division in the world created in Vietnam the Rambo myth. It is this same unit that, one hundred years earlier, was at the heart of the legends of the West fighting the Comanche and the Sioux. The Americans leave Vietnam in 1972 with the departure of the last brigade of the First Cav. In April of 1975 Saigon becomes Ho Chi Minh City. Who can say today who the real winner is? A planter in Vietnam in 1974 and 1975, Jacques-Francois de Chaunac lived through the end of the war in Long Thanh. With Francois d'Orcival he is the author of Marines a Khe Sanh (Presses de la Cite). Behind the Forgotten Front by Barbara Hawkins Pdf

75 years after WWII headlines of Pearl Harbor, Normandy and Hiroshima hit the press, the China-Burma-India Theater is brought to light in Behind the Forgotten Front. It's 1942, and Harry Flynn leaves behind the love of his life to journey into East Asia, a world of tigers, elephants and Himalayan Mountains. He enlists to fight, expecting to find the thrill of danger and honor of military service. Instead, Harry is ordered to the Forgotten Front in the Indian subcontinent as an ordinary supply officer. There, General Joseph 'Vinegar Joe' Stilwell is constructing a 'road to nowhere' through Japanese-occupied Burma—and he’s willing to complete it at any cost. In an exotic world with Naga headhunters, opium-smoking Kachin tribesmen, and marauders who scorn both life and death, Harry must entrust his life to others if he is to survive the war. During a time when boys are forced to come of age on the battlefield, and where death and insanity seem to be the only ways out, Harry must find what makes his life worth living. The lessons learned in WWII apply to all wars where men walk away carrying unspeakable memories about the lives that could have been. Behind the Forgotten Front takes you to the overlooked battles in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II and shows you that history is about facts driven by the passions and sometimes the mistakes of real people.
