Sea Birds at the Park by Larry Jaggard Pdf

When it comes to birds, there's probably no state with a greater disconnect between image and reality than New Jersey. Many people think of New Jersey as suburbs, factories, turnpikes, and seaside tourist towns like Atlantic City. It is true that it's the most densely populated state, but it's just as true that New Jersey encompasses a wide and rewarding array of habitats and natural areas. Sea Gulls are found from the oceans to the Great Plains to any parking lot. Gulls are typically scavengers, feeding upon whatever carrion and flotsam they can find. They are also not above stealing food from other birds. In this 48 page 8x10 full color photo book you will see the three most common birds found near lakes, parks and the seashore areas of southern New Jersey, Ducks, Geese and Seagulls. Over 40 full color photos taken in Atlantic County.

Tales from Concrete Jungles by David Lindo Pdf

Born and raised in London, David Lindo's passionate interest in the natural world, especially birds, began at an early age. His thriving curiosity opened a door for him into an unexplored world of urban birding. Years later he decided to champion the delights of birding in cities and reinvented himself as the Urban Birder. Using this illustrious alias David Lindo has brought urban birding back into the public consciousness, promoting its virtues at every opportunity and writing about it in the birding press. He urges people to look up when walking around in cities, or to stop and close your eyes in a busy street just to listen to the birds that may be singing. In his second book, David visits some of the world's most unnatural environments, revealing the astonishingly diverse range of wildlife that can be found when you take the time to look. Much more than a compendium of birding sites, each tale follows the Urban Birder in his enthralling pursuit of city birding. Accompanied by dedicated local conservationists and renowned birders, David gives a deeper insight into the true nature of each city. Featuring 70 locations to explore, Tales from Concrete Jungles is the perfect book to dip in to when on the move, or to hide away with on a rainy afternoon. Join David in his celebration of nature, pick up travel inspiration, and immerse yourself in his captivating quest for urban birding.

Use of Dredged Material Islands by Colonial Seabirds and Wading Birds in New Jersey by Francine G. Buckley,Cheryl A. McCaffrey Pdf

The use of dredged material islands by colonial nesting seabirds and wading birds in New Jersey was examined in five major phases. The first located dredged material islands from Manasquan to Cape May Inlets, NJ; the second recorded the past history of all colonial nesting seabirds and wading birds in New Jersey; the third recorded the vegetation patterns and succession on 21 dredged material islands selected for intensive study; the fourth recorded the distribution in 1977 of colonial seabirds and wading birds in the study area and their utilization of dredged material islands; and the fifth documented those factors influencing the use and selection of dredged material islands by birds in 1977. Nineteen management recommendations for dredged material islands are stated, including annual wildlife surveys, careful monitoring of contractor performance, attention to record keeping, preservation of alternative colony sites, rotational use and management of dredged material islands, proportional habitat creation and management, and protection of all islands with bird colonies.
