Selected Values of Chemical Thermodynamic Properties by D. D. Wagman Pdf

Excerpt from Selected Values of Chemical Thermodynamic Properties: Compounds of Uranium, Protactinium, Thorium, Actinium, and the Alkali Metals The tables contain values where known of the enthalpy and Gibbs energy of formation, enthalpy, entropy and heat capacity at K [25 C], and the enthalpy of formation at 0 K, for all inorganic substances and organic molecules containing not more than two carbon atoms. In some instances such as for metal - organic compounds, data are given for substances in which each organic radical contains one or two carbon atoms. Handbook of Aqueous Electrolyte Thermodynamics by Joseph F. Zemaitis, Jr.,Diane M. Clark,Marshall Rafal,Noel C. Scrivner Pdf

Expertise in electrolyte systems has become increasingly important in traditional CPI operations, as well as in oil/gas exploration and production. This book is the source for predicting electrolyte systems behavior, an indispensable "do-it-yourself" guide, with a blueprint for formulating predictive mathematical electrolyte models, recommended tabular values to use in these models, and annotated bibliographies. The final chapter is a general recipe for formulating complete predictive models for electrolytes, along with a series of worked illustrative examples. It can serve as a useful research and application tool for the practicing process engineer, and as a textbook for the chemical engineering student.

Geochemistry by Harry Y. McSween,Steven M. Richardson,Maria Uhle Pdf

Written expressly for undergraduate and graduate geologists, this book focuses on how geochemical principles can be used to solve practical problems. The attention to problem-solving reflects the authors'belief that showing how theory is useful in solving real-life problems is vital for learning. The book gives students a thorough grasp of the basic principles of the subject, balancing the traditional equilibrium perspective and the kinetic viewpoint. The first half of the book considers processes in which temperature and pressure are nearly constant. After introductions to the laws of thermodynamics, to fundamental equations for flow and diffusion, and to solution chemistry, these principles are used to investigate diagenesis, weathering, and natural waters. The second half of the book applies thermodynamics and kinetics to systems undergoing changes in temperature and pressure during magmatism and metamorphism. This revised edition incorporates new geochemical discoveries as examples of processes and pathways, with new chapters on mineral structure and bonding and on organic matter and biomarkers. Each chapter has worked problems, and the authors assume that the student has had a year of college-level chemistry and a year of calculus. Praise for the first edition "A truly modern geochemistry book.... Very well written and quite enjoyable to read.... An excellent basic text for graduate level instruction in geochemistry." —Journal of Geological Education "An up-to-date, broadly conceived introduction to geochemistry.... Given the recent flowering of geochemistry as an interdisciplinary science, and given the extent to which it now draws upon the fundamentals of thermodynamics and kinetics to understand earth and planetary processes, this timely and rigorous [book] is welcome indeed." —Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta

U Uranium by Hans U. Borgstedt,Horst Wedemeyer Pdf

Alloys of Uranium with Alkali Metals, Alkaline Earths, and Elements of Main Groups III and IV. The description of uranium and its compounds, for which the Gmelin Institute has started a series of volumes supplementing the main volume of 1936, follows in its arrangement closely the order chosen for the transuranium volumes. Part A treats "The Element", Part B "The Metal and its Alloys", Part C "The Compounds", Part D "The Chemistry in Solution", and finally Part E "The Coordination Compounds". Part E, "The Coordination Compounds" comprises two volumes which already have been finished and are available - completely written in English. Series A comprises 7 volumes which are all available. Series C will comprise 14 volumes of which only volume 6 is missing. Series D consists of 4 volumes dealing with the chemistry in solution, which already have been finished and are available. The present volume describes the alloys and the intermetallic compounds with the metals of main groups I to IV - those systems with semimetals such as boron and germanium are to be found in corresponding volumes in Uranium C series. In the volume B 2 main emphasis is given to the binary systems. The most frequently investigated systems are uranium-beryllium and uranium-aluminium because of their special scientific (U-Be) and technological (U-Al) importance.
