Hopf Algebras and Tensor Categories by Nicolás Andruskiewitsch,Juan Cuadra,Blas Torrecillas Pdf

This volume contains the proceedings of the Conference on Hopf Algebras and Tensor Categories, held July 4-8, 2011, at the University of Almeria, Almeria, Spain. The articles in this volume cover a wide variety of topics related to the theory of Hopf algebras and its connections to other areas of mathematics. In particular, this volume contains a survey covering aspects of the classification of fusion categories using Morita equivalence methods, a long comprehensive introduction to Hopf algebras in the category of species, and a summary of the status to date of the classification of Hopf algebras of dimensions up to 100. Among other topics discussed in this volume are a study of normalized class sum and generalized character table for semisimple Hopf algebras, a contribution to the classification program of finite dimensional pointed Hopf algebras, relations to the conjecture of De Concini, Kac, and Procesi on representations of quantum groups at roots of unity, a categorical approach to the Drinfeld double of a braided Hopf algebra via Hopf monads, an overview of Hom-Hopf algebras, and several discussions on the crossed product construction in different settings.

Hopf Algebras and Generalizations by Louis H. Kauffman,David E. Radford,Fernando José Oliveira Souza Pdf

Hopf algebras have proved to be very interesting structures with deep connections to various areas of mathematics, particularly through quantum groups. Indeed, the study of Hopf algebras, their representations, their generalizations, and the categories related to all these objects has an interdisciplinary nature. It finds methods, relationships, motivations and applications throughout algebra, category theory, topology, geometry, quantum field theory, quantum gravity, and also combinatorics, logic, and theoretical computer science. This volume portrays the vitality of contemporary research in Hopf algebras. Altogether, the articles in the volume explore essential aspects of Hopf algebras and some of their best-known generalizations by means of a variety of approaches and perspectives. They make use of quite different techniques that are already consolidated in the area of quantum algebra. This volume demonstrates the diversity and richness of its subject. Most of its papers introduce the reader to their respective contexts and structures through very expository preliminary sections.

The 23 articles in this volume encompass the proceedings of the International Conference on Modules and Comodules held in Porto (Portugal) in 2006. The conference was dedicated to Robert Wisbauer on the occasion of his 65th birthday. These articles reflect Professor Wisbauer's wide interests and give an overview of different fields related to module theory. While some of these fields have a long tradition, others represented here have emerged in recent years.

Handbook of Algebra by M. Hazewinkel Pdf

Algebra, as we know it today, consists of many different ideas, concepts and results. A reasonable estimate of the number of these different items would be somewhere between 50,000 and 200,000. Many of these have been named and many more could (and perhaps should) have a name or a convenient designation. Even the nonspecialist is likely to encounter most of these, either somewhere in the literature, disguised as a definition or a theorem or to hear about them and feel the need for more information. If this happens, one should be able to find enough information in this Handbook to judge if it is worthwhile to pursue the quest. In addition to the primary information given in the Handbook, there are references to relevant articles, books or lecture notes to help the reader. An excellent index has been included which is extensive and not limited to definitions, theorems etc. The Handbook of Algebra will publish articles as they are received and thus the reader will find in this third volume articles from twelve different sections. The advantages of this scheme are two-fold: accepted articles will be published quickly and the outline of the Handbook can be allowed to evolve as the various volumes are published. A particularly important function of the Handbook is to provide professional mathematicians working in an area other than their own with sufficient information on the topic in question if and when it is needed. - Thorough and practical source of information - Provides in-depth coverage of new topics in algebra - Includes references to relevant articles, books and lecture notes

The Recognition Theorem for Graded Lie Algebras in Prime Characteristic by Georgia Benkart,Thomas Bradford Gregory,Alexander Premet Pdf

The ``Recognition Theorem'' for graded Lie algebras is an essential ingredient in the classification of finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>3$. The main goal of this monograph is to present the first complete proof of this fundamental result.

The Hilbert Function of a Level Algebra by A. V. Geramita,Tadahito Harima,Juan C. Migliore,Yong Su Shin Pdf

Let $R$ be a polynomial ring over an algebraically closed field and let $A$ be a standard graded Cohen-Macaulay quotient of $R$. The authors state that $A$ is a level algebra if the last module in the minimal free resolution of $A$ (as $R$-module) is of the form $R(-s)a$, where $s$ and $a$ are positive integers. When $a=1$ these are also known as Gorenstein algebras. The basic question addressed in this paper is: What can be the Hilbert Function of a level algebra? The authors consider the question in several particular cases, e.g., when $A$ is an Artinian algebra, or when $A$ is the homogeneous coordinate ring of a reduced set of points, or when $A$ satisfies the Weak Lefschetz Property. The authors give new methods for showing that certain functions are NOT possible as the Hilbert function of a level algebra and also give new methods to construct level algebras. In a (rather long) appendix, the authors apply their results to give complete lists of all possible Hilbert functions in the case that the codimension of $A = 3$, $s$ is small and $a$ takes on certain fixed values.
