Slipping the Line by Amelia Curran Pdf

This book brings a new spatial analysis to gang territories through the concept of the gang assemblage- the variety of actors, contexts, and practices that create and maintain these spaces. This conceptualization helps overcome the tendency of gang literature to succumb to the gang territorial trap, the tendency to assume gang territories are fixed and static containers of gang life. Drawing on multi-sited qualitative fieldwork in central Canada, interviews with gang and non-gang-affiliated residents, police, and administrators show gang territories being made material through a wide variety of daily embodied practices. Recognizing the role of multiple actors encourages a relational ethics of accountability between bodies, practices, and place that challenges the often-naturalized connections between race, space, and crime. Understanding gang space as enacted through embodied material practices provides an alternative way to think through, trace, and disrupt these associations.

Plane-Strain Slip-Line Fields for Metal-Deformation Processes by W. Johnson,R. Sowerby,R. D. Venter Pdf

Plane-Strain Slip-Line Fields for Metal-Deformation Processes: A Source Book and Bibliography provides information pertinent to the theory and application of plain-train slip fields to metal-working problems. This book discusses the industrial importance of axial symmetry. Organized into seven chapters, this book begins with an overview of the oldest processes of metal forming, including forging, coining, hammering, drifting, cutting, or parting. This text then examines the basic aspects of the basic theory of classical plasticity. Other chapters consider the governing equations of the plane plastic flow of a rigid-perfectly plastic solid. This book discusses as well the methods for the solution of problems of plane plastic flow of a rigid-perfectly plastic solid. The final chapter deals with the application of the theory of plasticity to the quasi-static plane-strain deformation of an isotropic rigid-perfectly plastic, rate insensitive material. This book is a valuable resource for mechanical engineers, materials scientists, teachers, and research workers.

High Geologic Slip Rates Since Early Pleistocene Initiation of the San Jacinto and San Felipe Fault Zones in the San Andreas Fault System, Southern California, USA by Anonim Pdf

"The San Jacinto right-lateral strike-slip fault zone is crucial for understanding plate-boundary dynamics, regional slip partitioning, and seismic hazards within the San Andreas fault system of southern California, yet its age of initiation and long-term average slip rate are controversial. This synthesis of prior and new detailed studies in the western Salton Trough documents initiation of structural segments of the San Jacinto fault zone at or slightly before the 1.07 Ma base of the Jaramillo subchron. In Special Paper 475, five new estimates of displacement are developed using offset successions of crystalline rocks; distinctive marker beds in the late Cenozoic basin fill; analysis of strike-slip-related fault-bend folds; quantification of strain in folds at the tips of dextral faults; and gravity, magnetic, and geomorphic data sets."--Publisher's website.

Fundamentals of Engineering Plasticity by William F. Hosford Pdf

William Hosford's book is ideal for those involved in designing sheet metal forming processes. Knowledge of plasticity is essential for the computer simulation of metal forming processes and understanding the advances in plasticity theory is key to formulating sound analyses. The author makes the subject simple by avoiding notations used by specialists in mechanics. R. Hill's authoritative book, Mathematical Theory of Plasticity (1950), presented a comprehensive treatment of continuum plasticity theory up to that time; much of the treatment in this book covers the same ground, but focuses on more practical topics. Hosford has included recent developments in continuum theory, including a newer treatment of anisotropy that has resulted from calculations of yielding based on crystallography, analysis of the role of defects, and forming limit diagrams. A much greater emphasis is placed on deformation mechanisms and the book also includes chapters on slip and dislocation theory and twinning.
