The Photochemistry of Atmospheres by Joel Levine Pdf
The Photochemistry of Atmospheres: Earth, the Other Planets, and Comets discusses the photochemical and chemical processes in atmospheres This book focuses on the earth’s atmosphere in the past, present, and future, atmospheres of other planets and their satellites, and comets. General topics in atmospheric photochemistry, such as composition and structure, transfer of incoming solar radiation, and principles governing the rates of photochemical and chemical processes are also elaborated. This text also covers the role of eddy and molecular transport and continuity-transport equation used in theoretical numerical modeling studies. This publication is recommended for advanced-level courses in the atmospheric and planetary sciences, as well as reference for those interested in learning about atmospheric/climatic environmental problems, their causes and consequences, and discoveries concerning the atmospheres of neighboring worlds.
Photochemistry of Planetary Atmospheres by Yuk Ling Yung,William B. DeMore Pdf
This valuable reference presents detailed studies of eleven planetary atmospheres: four for the giant planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune), four for the small bodies (Io, Titan, Triton, and Pluto), and three for the terrestrial planets (Mars, Venus, and Earth). Also, using the database provided by recent space missions supplemented by Earth-based observations, the authors offer an extensive survey of the principal chemical cycles that control the present composition and past history of planetary atmospheres.
Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer of Planetary Atmospheres by Kelly Chance,Randall V. Martin Pdf
Spectroscopy and radiative transfer are rapidly growing fields within atmospheric and planetary science with implications for weather, climate, biogeochemical cycles, air quality on Earth, as well as the physics and evolution of planetary atmospheres in our solar system and beyond. Remote sensing and modeling atmospheric composition of the Earth, of other planets in our solar system, or of planets orbiting other stars require detailed knowledge of how radiation and matter interact in planetary atmospheres. This includes knowledge of how stellar or thermal radiation propagates through atmospheres, how that propagation affects radiative forcing of climate, how atmospheric pollutants and greenhouse gases produce unique spectroscopic signatures, how the properties of atmospheres may be quantitatively measured, and how those measurements relate to physical properties. This book provides this fundamental knowledge to a depth that will leave a student with the background to become capable of performing quantitative research on atmospheres. The book is intended for graduate students or for advanced undergraduates. It spans across principles through applications, with sufficient background for students without prior experience in either spectroscopy or radiative transfer. Courses based on this book are intended to be accompanied by the development of increasing sophisticated atmospheric and spectroscopic modeling capability (ideally, the student develops a computer model for simulation of atmospheric spectra from microwave through ultraviolet).
Our subject is, of course, nothing more than applied physics and chemistry. But in addition to those basic sciences the student of planetary atmospheres needs an overview of atmospheric structure and physical processes as presently understood. This book is intended to help fill that need for both graduate students and research scientists. Although the approach is mainly theoretical, very little basic physics is developed here. Material that is standard fare in third- and fourth-year physics courses is simply absorbed where needed.
Physics of Planetary Ionospheres by S. J. Bauer Pdf
Although there are, in addition to the classic but somewhat dated books'l-, some excellent recent books on ionospheric physics and aeronomy'l-... , their scope is quite different from that of the present monograph. This monograph concentrates on the fundamental physical and chemical processes in an idealized planetary ionosphere as a general abstraction, with actual planetary ionospheres representing special cases. Such an approach appears most appropriate for a concise in troduction to the field, at a time when increasing experimental in formation on the ionospheres of other planets can be anticipated. The main purpose of this monograph, in line with that of the whole series, is to appraise where we stand, what we know and what we still need to know. It is mainly addressed to graduate students and researchers who are in the process of getting acquainted with the field. Within the scope of this monograph it would be impossible to do justice to all relevant publications. Hence, references are somewhat selective and largely limited to the more recent original papers and to authoritative reviews, the latter generally providing also detailed references regarding the historical development of the particular topic. Cgs (gaussian) units are generally used in this book, except where practical units are more appropriate. This book has evolved from a graduate course of the same title which I gave at the Catholic University of America, Washington, D. C.

Atmospheric and Space Sciences: Ionospheres and Plasma Environments by Erdal Yiğit Pdf
The SpringerBriefs on Atmospheric and Space Sciences in two volumes presents a concise and interdisciplinary introduction to the basic theory, observation & modeling of atmospheric and ionospheric coupling processes on Earth. The goal is to contribute toward bridging the gap between meteorology, aeronomy, and planetary science. In addition recent progress in several related research topics, such atmospheric wave coupling and variability, is discussed. Volume 1 will focus on the atmosphere, while Volume 2 will present the ionospheres and the plasma environments. Volume 2 is aimed primarily at (research) students and young researchers that would like to gain quick insight into the basics of space sciences and current research. In combination with the first volume, it also is a useful tool for professors who would like to develop a course in atmospheric and space physics.
