Sri Aurobindo by Roshen Dalal Pdf

An illuminating exploration of the life and philosophy of an uncommon visionary. Widely revered as a preeminent philosopher and spiritual leader, Sri Aurobindo’s teachings and legacy inspire millions across the globe. Yet, the true essence of his wisdom remains an enigma, intensified further by the mystique surrounding his life. In this comprehensive new biography, veteran historian Roshen Dalal sets out to demystify Aurobindo’s unique journey. From his early years and education in England to his consequential return to India during its embryonic freedom movement, his arrest in the infamous Alipore Bomb Case and subsequent spiritual awakening and ascetic life at his ashram in Pondicherry, she unravels the intricate events and relationships that shaped his thinking – particularly his collaborations with his spiritual partner, the Mother. Through meticulous analysis of his writings, she sheds light on Aurobindo’s radical path for the future – towards a harmonious world order and the awakening of a divine consciousness, culminating in the ultimate transformation of humanity. Drawing from over three decades of research, Dalal presents here the most accessible, lucid and insightful portrait of Sri Aurobindo to date. She underscores the pioneering ideas of a visionary thinker and the enduring power of his legacy.

Mystic Fire by Atulindra Nath Chaturvedi Pdf

Sri Aurobindo was one of the most extraordinary figures to appear on the historical stage in the early twentieth century. He is remembered today primarily as a revolutionary and a yogi, but Aurobindo Ghose refused to be circumscribed by such boundaries. Aurobindo was taken at an early age to England. Completely cut off from all things Indian, he received the perfect English education at St. Paul's School and Cambridge University. Destined for a career in the Indian Civil Service, he cracked the entrance examination but declined to join. Returning home after a 14-year absence, while working for the Maharaja of Baroda, Aurobindo embarked on a covert parallel career-organizing revolutionary groups and writing anti-British propaganda. At the same time, he delved deep into India's past and scriptures, and became a poet, dramatist, philosopher and Sanskritist. Later, he became one of India's foremost social, political and cultural theorists. After a whirlwind political career of three years in Bengal-one of them as a guest of the Raj-Aurobindo stunned everyone, when, at the height of his political eminence, he withdrew to Pondicherry. Here, as Sri Aurobindo, he crafted Integral Yoga and created a rich legacy from which India can still learn. Mystic Fire is the first biography of Sri Aurobindo to have drawn upon the wealth of new information and documentation on his life and works that has become available over the last few years. This includes the previously unpublished writings of Sri Aurobindo himself, including his remarkable record of yoga.

The Future Evolution of Man by Sri Aurobindo Pdf

The modern world's structures are changing rapidly as new problems arise from advances in science and technology. Man's mind is unable to keep pace with the movement he has himself set in motion and the unsolvable problems that confront him, yet he aspires to self-mastery, perfection, peace, beauty, and love. What is the meaning of terrestrial life and the present evolutionary crisis? This anthology compiled from Sri Aurobindo's The Life Divine, The Synthesis of Yoga, and The Human Cycle deals with this crucial question, tracing the past and pointing to the future of human evolution, both individual and social.

The Lives of Sri Aurobindo by Peter Heehs Pdf

Since his death in 1950, Sri Aurobindo Ghose has been known primarily as a yogi and a philosopher of spiritual evolution who was nominated for the Nobel Prize in peace and literature. But the years Aurobindo spent in yogic retirement were preceded by nearly four decades of rich public and intellectual work. Biographers usually focus solely on Aurobindo's life as a politician or sage, but he was also a scholar, a revolutionary, a poet, a philosopher, a social and cultural theorist, and the inspiration for an experiment in communal living. Peter Heehs, one of the founders of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Archives, is the first to relate all the aspects of Aurobindo's life in its entirety. Consulting rare primary sources, Heehs describes the leader's role in the freedom movement and in the framing of modern Indian spirituality. He examines the thinker's literary, cultural, and sociological writings and the Sanskrit, Bengali, English, and French literature that influenced them, and he finds the foundations of Aurobindo's yoga practice in his diaries and unpublished letters. Heehs's biography is a sensitive, honest portrait of a life that also provides surprising insights into twentieth-century Indian history.

Crafting A Legacy: The Incredible Lives Of Asian-pacific Hand Surgery Pioneers by Dawn Chia,Sandeep Sebastin,Raja Sabapathy Pdf

This book is a compilation of the remarkable journeys of 48 hand surgery pioneers from the Asian-Pacific region. They came from diverse backgrounds — one being the 21st generation doctor in the family to another being the first ever orthopaedic surgeon of a major university. While some pioneers delved deep in the lab to push the boundaries of surgical care, others strived to make high quality hand surgery available to the masses. However, what united them all was an unwavering commitment to their patients' well-being and a willingness to go above and beyond to attain their objectives. The International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand (IFSSH) celebrates the spirit of enthusiasm, sacrifice and commitment to the cause of hand surgery by recognising these pioneers during the triennial IFSSH congress. Each biographical article in this anthology was written by someone who has closely known or collaborated with the featured pioneer. Each of these trailblazers has a story that will stir emotions and inspire others. We believe it's important to share these narratives to motivate the younger generation. By doing so, we hope to inspire them to follow in their footsteps, provide exceptional care to their patients and collectively create a better world to live in.

THE SCIENCE OF YOGA by Pankaj Singh,Dr. Ravi Prakash Singh,Dr. Awadhesh Kumar Singh,Anita Pharswan Pdf

The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from Sanskrit root yuj which means ‘join’ or ‘unite’. This may be taken as the union of body, mind and soul, and is used in the literature both as an end as well as means. As an end, yoga signifies ‘integration of personality’ at the highest level. As means, yoga includes various practices and techniques which are employed to achieve the development of such integration. These practices and techniques are means in the yogic literature and are also referred collectively as ‘Yoga’.

The Essential Aurobindo by Sri Aurobindo Pdf

Who wrote the Gospel of John? The author identifies himself only as "the disciple whom Jesus loved," and Christian tradition tells us that this disciple was the apostle John. However, during the past century, scholars have increasingly come to doubt that attribution. In 1902, Rudolf Steiner wrote that the author of the Gospel of John was in fact Lazarus. Steiner's position stemmed from his insight that Lazarus's encounter with death involved far more than people realized--an initiation into higher spiritual realities that uniquely qualified him to write this gospel. Edward Smith takes up this argument and shows that subsequent research has tended to favor Lazarus for reasons grounded in John's Gospel itself. More important, Smith shows that subsequent discoveries at Nag Hammadi and Mar Saba corroborate Steiner's reasoning about the nature of the raising of Lazarus, pointing to Lazarus as "the rich young ruler" of Mark's Gospel.
