Stories to Tell the Littlest Ones (Classic Reprint) by Sara Cone Bryant Pdf

Excerpt from Stories to Tell the Littlest Ones Gradually other loves have taken their place in the home-story world, and I have told my boy and girl many tales of many kinds, true, fairy, and foolish, as they call humorous stories, but they still love the one that begins with Peter Rabbit. Once in a while, in the long series Of days, some happy inspiration has given me a better thought than usual, and a real story has popped out of my mouth in place of the mediocre inventions of habit. These few real stories have been retold by request of the original audience, and told again to larger audiences many times. It has seemed to me that the best of them might prove of value to other teach ers and mothers of very, little children, for the demand is continuous, and the sup ply of material suitable for such tiny hearers is exceedingly small. More Classic Stories for the Little Ones (Classic Reprint) by Mrs. Lida Brown McMurry Pdf

Excerpt from More Classic Stories for the Little Ones The woods are full of fairies! The trees are all alive The river overflows with them, See how they dip and dive! What funny little fellows! What dainty little dears! They dance and leap, and prance and peep, And utter fairy cheers! I'd like to tame a fairy, To keep it on a shelf, To see it wash its little face, And dress its little self. I'd teach it pretty manners, It always should say Please And then you know I'd make it sew. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Little Known Tales and Treasured Classics by Hans Christian Andersen Pdf

Rediscover your childhood's favourite fairy tales or introduce a young reader to the magical world of one of the greatest storytellers, Hans Christian Andersen. Nearly two centuries after they were first published, Andersen's fairy tales remain as tales of good and evil, love and loss, and loyalty in the face of great hardships. They are readily accessible to children, but present lessons of virtue for mature readers as well, as they express themes that transcend age and nationality. Andersen's fairy tales have been translated into more than 125 languages and have become culturally embedded in our collective consciousness. In this volume, you will find a wide selection of both well-known and less well-known stories. Enjoy and let them carry you away into a magical world... "Little Known Tales and Treasured Classics" includes 171 tales. Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a Danish author, poet and artist. Celebrated for children’s literature, his most cherished fairy tales include "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Little Mermaid", "The Nightingale", "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", "The Snow Queen", "The Ugly Duckling" and "The Little Match Girl". His books have been translated into every living language, and today there is no child or adult that has not met Andersen's whimsical characters. His fairy tales have been adapted to stage and screen countless times, most notably by Disney with the animated films "The Little Mermaid" in 1989 and "Frozen", which is loosely based on "The Snow Queen", in 2013. Thanks to Andersen's contribution to children's literature, his birth date, April 2, is celebrated as International Children's Book Day.

The Play-Day Book by Fanny Fern Pdf

Excerpt from The Play-Day Book: New Stories for Little Folks Since "Little Ferns was published, I have had many letters, and messages, from little children all over the country, asking me "to write them soon another little book of stories." Here is one that I have prepared for you and them: I hope you will like it; for some of you, it will be too young a book; for some of you, too old; those for whom it is too young, will perhaps read it to little brothers and sisters; those for whom it is too old now, can look at the pictures and learn to read, little by little, by spelling out the words in the stories. Little Women (includes Good Wives) + Little Men + Jo's Boys (3 Unabridged Classics with over 200 original illustrations) by Louisa May Alcott Pdf

This carefully crafted ebook: "Little Women (includes Good Wives) + Little Men + Jo's Boys (3 Unabridged Classics with over 200 original illustrations)" is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. This ebook contains 3 unabridged classic books with over 200 original illustrations by Frank T. Merrill and Reginald B. Birch in one ebook. Louisa May Alcott (1832 – 1888) was an American novelist best known as author of the novel Little Women and its sequels Little Men and Jo's Boys. Little Women and Good Wives, published in 1868 and 1869 respectively, is a story following the four March sisters and their friend Theodore "Laurie" Lawrence in Massachusetts in the 1800's. The four girls each exhibit individual flaws and much of the plot is concerned with their journey to correct themselves, always supporting each other in the end despite their numerous squabbles. Margaret "Meg" March is the eldest sister and at the beginning of the tale is very preoccupied with materialistic possessions, Josephine "Jo" March is a tomboy with a fiery temper, Elizabeth "Beth" March is shy and gentle and Amy, being the youngest March sister, is spoilt and therefore prone to temper tantrums. Little Women follows the sisters for about a year, but Good Wives skips forward in time regularly so that by the end they are all of adult age. Little Men, or Life at Plumfield with Jo's Boys is a novel by American author Louisa May Alcott, first published in 1871. Little Men follows the adventures of Jo March and her husband Professor Bhaer as they try to make their school for boys a happy, comfortable, and stimulating place. Jo's Boys was first published in 1886. The novel is the final book in the unofficial Little Women series. In it, Jo's "children," now grown, are caught up in real world troubles.

Classical Mythology (Little Books About Big Things) by Bob Bailey Mucker Pdf

If you think the legendary gods and goddesses of classical mythology are ancient history, think again. This little book focuses on a variety of those fascinating gods and goddesses and some of the lessons they’ve been teaching people since long ago—with a few wild and crazy tales to boot. Here are just a few of the interesting facts you’ll find in Classical Mythology: • Head of a crocodile, body of a lioness, rear of a hippopotamus, Ammut was a female demon who took the last measure of a person’s deeds. If he’d been wicked, Ammut would eat his soul and he’d spend eternity in torment. • The most famous “miracle birth” in Greek mythology is that of Athena, goddess of wisdom, who sprang fully formed from the head of Zeus. • Cronus ate five of his kids on purpose. • The Nereids were patron spirits of sailors, who whispered kind, loving words about them to ensure they would stay safe at sea. • In Egyptian mythology, the Phoenix was a magical firebird, associated with the sun. It lived for hundreds of years, and when it died it was reborn from its own ashes. • You might say that Atlas is all over the map. The Titan who holds up the heavens gave his name to the Atlantic Ocean, the Atlas Mountains in northern Africa, and the mythical lost continent of Atlantis. And of course a bound collection of maps is also called an atlas. Ever what was in Pandora’s box? Or how Achilles came to have a weak spot? You’ll find the answers inside.
